Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age

This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse this site, you are agreeing to our Cookie Policy.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is an independent table top miniature wargame set in a fantasy world, in which players take control of armies and set them upon one another in conflicts ranging from minor skirmishes to mighty battles with hundreds of models.

The game and all of its rules are completely free to download and use, and consist of a main rulebook and over fifteen army documents, ranging from stoic men and noble elves to the feral orcs and dread worshipers of the dark gods. You can easily assemble your own army using appropriate 28mm miniatures from any manufacturer.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age has been created by a group of experienced wargamers, a large supportive staff and continuous input from the wargaming community. We aim to provide a competitive, balanced and fun game, with updates and new rules to be released regularly.

We’ve created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by models from any 28mm model company. People said it was impossible, but we have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don’t believe us? Try it for yourselves.

Happy wargaming.

Shieldbreaker, what the feck does ", and can never wound on to-wound rolls better than 3+" mean?

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt

I've thought about it probably too much, and got all twisted around in my head

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt

that even if you have Str 8 and your opponent has Res 2, you still wound on 3+, not the usual 2+

(that's how i read it, at least)

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt

You can never wound better than on 3+, not even through spells.

    or other special affects/abilities/w/e

Cheers guys. I thought it could mean that if the Str/Res difference meant I was rolling on a 2+ that I just couldn't wound them at all

My foster mum is refusing to buy me the new Seraphon Battleforce ... is there any way I can waiver my adoption?

  • wcf.user.avatar.alt

come on, lad, don't be daft. you'll need a more pressing reason to waive your adoption than a *Battleforce*. ask her if she'll buy you at least a *Squad*. if she refuses that one too, then alright - we'll take action.

Perhaps I am alone, but I think dwarfs (and this includes my lists) already have to much access to flying avoidance shooting. Having up to 3 units of copters (be it bomber or single/pairs of copters) and up to 2 busters feels a bit over to much. In…

I absolutely loved it. I thought the dantes inferno style was perfect, it gave very interesting insight into the types of daemons/themes we'll be coming to call our own, and it did some pretty cool lore building! No spoilers, but the reveal of who the…
