Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age

This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse this site, you are agreeing to our Cookie Policy.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is an independent table top miniature wargame set in a fantasy world, in which players take control of armies and set them upon one another in conflicts ranging from minor skirmishes to mighty battles with hundreds of models.

The game and all of its rules are completely free to download and use, and consist of a main rulebook and over fifteen army documents, ranging from stoic men and noble elves to the feral orcs and dread worshipers of the dark gods. You can easily assemble your own army using appropriate 28mm miniatures from any manufacturer.

Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age has been created by a group of experienced wargamers, a large supportive staff and continuous input from the wargaming community. We aim to provide a competitive, balanced and fun game, with updates and new rules to be released regularly.

We’ve created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by models from any 28mm model company. People said it was impossible, but we have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don’t believe us? Try it for yourselves.

Happy wargaming.

So I found some older photos I took when I was first doing the Nighthaunt models. These show the Hexwraith Flame technical wash over a white undercoat. These work very similarly to how the new Contrast paints work. You can see here that if all you did…

...and this isn't really anything brand new with GW. Last year they released two new technical shades which I think went largely unnoticed by a huge chunk of the wargaming community. When they released AOS 2.0 and the "Soul Wars" starter set they also…

I've watched about half a dozen or so Youtube demo videos of various painters using the Contrast paints, as well as several more videos discussing them from a philosophical standpoint. I think some people are kind of missing the point of why GW is…

(Hidden Content) Here is my finished hellmaw. I decided to use this model, as it has obvious toxic interference, and it's really cannot fight, same as our Hellmaw. Just distracting things that can't do a heck, lol 70% of model painted is a drybrush,…

Dear designers: the DL book is currently at a very low powerlevel, in terms of competitiveness, IMO. We cannot pay around 950 points for a flying giant vith agi 0. We cannot pay 114 points for equiping 19 succubi with a conditional halberd that doesn't…
