Wanted to give you that feedback as you wished :). It was about the comparison between Mounted edbashers and wasteland knights. The wasteland knights doesnt have frenzy (to gain this they need to purchase a standardbearer and Banner of Fury =45pts) They have 2 attacks in their profile, Base S4 so S6 when charging, Same movement speed, the horse isnt charge dependant to get S4, and costs 350pts for 5 395 if with frenzy.
Compare that to the cost of mounted feral Eadbashers. 160pts give you a 5+ 6++ (not good) Same amount of attacks as the frenzy version of wasteland warriors, same charge strenght, same grind strenght and at 160pts cost. The fully upgraded version with PW is 200. So they are at half the price of wasteland warriors.
I agree with you that they are not that scary but for what you pay they are quite good. I would argue that they need to be better but more expensive.

I agree that the point cost is extreme on the other end of the spectrum, but with their current rule set I bring out 5 of them, or 3 units of 5 of them for 600 pts and I'm giving you 600 pts. Not a single person is playing them

Yeah I agree that they are problematical, this was never something I disagreed with :). But a problem I see with the approach of giving the boars 2 S5 attacks and the riders 3 S5 attacks is that this would result in an immense damage output on such a small frontage. Basicly 5 Eadbashes would give out 25 S5 attacks at Init 3. What would the cost be for this unit then? They would almost rival that of large horde units.
If compared against a unit which I am familiar with (Slaughterers) a maxed out horde of them would cist 710 points and dish out 30 S5 attacks on a Move 5 unit with a much larger frontage.
That is one of the problems, the other is if faced against an enemy with unsufficient amount of shooting they would be able to cause extreme mayhem. And the ability to rank them up with monstous support with 15 guys could lead to extreme cases where an untouched unit could do up to 55 S5 attacks. That is extreme.

Instead of creating these swingy and hard to balance options which either gets easily destroyed by enemies or simply wins matches by themselfs why not try to mimmick what works for other armies cavs (better saves, being more charge dependant) or give them something flavourful, mini waaghs, special deployment options to enable them to get into the right combats?

I have done 64 Str 5 swings once into combat against kingsgaurd. Using a horde of savage orcs, got devastating charge off with idol and have killed 9..... yup 9......

    • Warboss Tooth -

I agree, that better saves would help out in the end. I really just wanted to toss out some ideas

Well as to the 64 STR5 swings that is still at a larger footprint than the mounted eadbasher. half the width and with an idol to support that attack amount. It is far more point and takes more strategic play to pull of :).
Lemme guess at the opposition, Kingsguards with shield and the distracting waggon behind..? Hate that setup myself. but 9 is still statistic there believe it or not =(?
And I welcome the ideas, just wanted to be someone with maybe not an O&G background to play ball with.
What if the orcs were something closer to (Mounted feral eadbashers) Maye choose one of two Shield or PW.
The boar ha S4 base without thunderous charge but with 2A. Give the Boars Move 8 but barding, Mounts protection 4+, change the points to be appropriate. This way they would have 3+ AS 6++ with PW or 2+ AS with 6++ and Light lance shield.
Change the common version to only have light armour 2+ AS base with option for shield.
Give both Mounted eadbashers an vanguard option to purchase for smaller unit sizes to enable more agressive play styles with them.
They would still have synergies with the Idol, would open up for them to be better character delivery systems. Wont fall over from a stiff breeze. What do you think? Vanguarding heavy cav would be unique for O&G and go well with agressive playstyles. OFC points needs to be different
