  • Quote from matrim: “I don't think there needs to be a separate scale for elite vs core units. At the end of the day if the designers don't wish 50 strong tower guard they could either limit the unit size through starting numbers and max numbers also they'll cost more. MSU infantry <16 MSU cav < 6 15<Mmu inf <26 5<Mmu cav<11 25<big inf unit 10<big cav unit ” I disagree. It is a combination of points, models stats, footprint, unit role, and maneuverability in order to determine between MSU/MMU/MBU…

  • I don't really get the fluff reason or the balance reason for the grail vow being 0-1. There obviously isn't a balance reason since no one takes it anyway. Fluff wise: When you got 9 models in a grail knight unit with 2 units of them, I don't' see why there can be only 1 character with the grail vow. Characters are more in their own fluffy thing covered by the character cap anyway. Example: King Authur is the Duke with grail vow. Lancelot is the Paladin with grail vow. the unit of grail knights …

  • Quote from Ozzy666: “How about this: Orc-made heavy armour is of low quality -> it's really heavy -> orcs who wear it need to be stronger than average orc -> few orcs actually wear it Meanwhile: Elf-made heavy armour is of high quality -> it's quite light -> elves who wear it can be of average strength for an elf -> many elves actually wear it And than actually checks out, heavy (and plate) armour is used by more DE units than OnG units Also - even if there is no difference in rules, it still ma…

  • Quality of troops and starting size matter alot with regards to being MSU/MMU/MBU. And the amount of ranks that can be formed is a factor. Inf: I separated core because there are big differences between them. Core Legionaries starting at 15 models MSU: 15-19 MMU: 20-30 MBU: 31+ Core Corsairs and Blades MSU: 10-14 MMU: 15-24 MBU: 25+ Core Repeaters: MSU: 10-12 MMU: 13-16 MBU: 16+ Units whose sole purpose is shooting without volley fire are a bit different due to staying in 2 ranks. Has alot to do…

  • Just to clarify, the guidelines did present a solution on how the expected result can or will be achieved - more close combat in a forward direction, defense against short range shooting. The guidelines also ruled out literally every other avenue that could be explored with the way the guidelines were worded. ...to which the entire player base of DE basically spent 25 of these 30 pages saying "we don't want WDG elf style with hard target spam at 12 inches". I think it is safe to assume the feedb…

  • There can still be shadow/midnight armour in the book. It would just be fore specific units such as Knights/characters. In my LAB proposal I have both AP resist armour for light/heavy. And then Midnight armour is on the knights and certain characters which gives a range decrease to enemy units. Why a range decrease? well stuff like hard target, Magic ressist is more for items. And a range decrease actually impacts the movement phase and creates some strategy and tactics. It's supposed to encoura…

  • Quote from AlexCat: “Just to cents. Would be great to see Mirrored Scales on Lemures. ” or a viable way to get it through guiding manifestations.

  • "What does quality equipment mean in the scope of 9th age?" is something that the RT will have to figure out because it has to makes sense across all of T9A. Currently we only have WDG and DL to show what the team has done. The WDG clearly shows that quality equipment means BOTH a wide access to armour and weapons as well as a couple unique armours. Note: that they don't have unique weapons because their innate stats are already so good that design wise it wasn't really needed. The DL has unique…

  • Quote from Kapten Kluns: “however imps arent really in that bundle id say with their point cost they are eliteish as a shooting unit, however they fail at their role ” well they are 16pts for extra model so RT is willing to go low with them. But ya they fail at being elite since their shooting will never be decent. Might as well go for horde spam with this unit.

  • Quote from Norbaminiatures: “Part of the packages will be lost along the way because I will use them for my own army of Bretonia MUAHAHAHAHAHA ” A plastic crack dealer taking from his supply..... Lol.

  • the-ninth-age.com/community/ne…ted-letter-dread-elves-1/ We got some news!!!! 2Q==

  • Quote from fjugin: “We have ways to establish external balance as well. Eg tournament results and polling top players. ” ok. good to hear that the top players feedback carries more weight. ....unless it leads to another point increase for the steam tank because Spain can't figure out how to kill it. ....I jest of course

  • The survey looks nice but with the focus being solely on internal balance, it just feels like a questionnaire asking everyone what they want to have a points increase/decrease. Because you can have a bunch of items be really good internally but they are "meh" externally. Like alot of things are good but they are already at their max points. Going any higher can wreak the build they are used in.

  • Quote from xaby86: “There could be different paths for specific cults or conclaves.. ” I think that is a good option. I'd also like to see the Hereditary be revisited as re-rolling wounds for ranged seems to go against guidelines, and it's not often used due to it's high casting cost anyway. Hereditary is something that kinda gets tweaked towards the end of devolpment anyway in order to make the synergies or themes come together. It's really hard and kinda bad to come up with hereditary first an…

  • Lots of good points in your post. One does have to remember that in a Team Tourny it's all skewed. The fact that there were more than 1 type of list is good(just look at KoE). And when it comes to team tournies it's all about the role, you simply can't make every unit in a book be viable at ETC. Quote from Kapten Kluns: “The army is getting a lower and lower point cost per wound aswell as a lower avarage on stats compared to before. We are becoming less and less elite and atleast for me it feels…

  • Quote from Persedious: “I have a dumb question, but an honest one. How much better would you do, or easier time would you have, if you brought one of the upper shelf books? ” the eye of Sauron would focus hard on his Tier1 army and the nerf bat would not be far behind. Lol.

  • Quote from Marchosias: “@Peacemaker Maybe try the full armybooks first. They are full of stories, with various viewpoints and styles, you might like at least a few. ” I've read those and they are very enjoyable. This is more about the stories regarding Magic paths and why they are restricted that I have not read.

  • Quote from WhammeWhamme: “If none of the extant works the BGT has created strike you as fluffy and thematic, then I'm not sure there's any chance the project will ever be able to sell you on locked paths. ” I guess it depends on the particular story. If its a poem that takes up 2 pages then I skip that. ....I just can't get into poems. Been a while since I read through the Big Book fluff so if there was a more interesting story then perhaps I just forgot it. Quote from WhammeWhamme: “That said, …

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “ah, ok. Guardian works best for me out of those but I don't know if that will hit IP issues with Total War: Warhammer introducing a unit with the same name. ” Lol,, I didn't even know total war had that. It's pretty generic so It shouldn't be a problem.

  • Quote from Sir_Sully: “Quote from Peacemaker: “Some ideas: Crusader Oath -based on attacking Guardian Oath -based on defending Questing Oath -based on hunting things with fear Penance Oath Vengeance Oath Etc... ” I like the premise but I worry that adding more oaths puts a lot of complexity on characters and won't allow us to fix the knights and peasants in combats issue. The 2 oaths we have + 7 virtues (however they end up being done) should be enough for us to build the characters we need. ” W…
