  • My wild opinion has for the longest time been to decouple raising from magic, but it's largely been unpopular. "Heal based on missing health" is one of my favourite mechanics when it comes to healing in videogames, and I think it could also work on tabletop. I think Necrons in 40k have a similar mechanic as well, where they keep track of casualties and roll a dice once every turn to see how many of them get back up. Balancing such an ability is of course a different question altogether.

  • While we have to make do with our imagination when it comes to naming stuff, In-universe the titles make a lot of sense, given that while clearly a male title it's also a neutral statement - A Chosen Lord is one who 'lords over those chosen by the gods'.

  • Folks over at UD are downright cordial, what's going on over there is a constructive discussion on what could be done with the army and what fixes would be better. Basically everyone there was well aware of what was broken in the book and would get hit.

Quote from Echunia: “How did a skeleton heavy list become more viable if the hereditary stays in its current shape? To me these changes seem to shift the focus from monstrous infantry to monsters instead. Skeletons are too reliant on healing to be viable with such an expensive hereditary. Maybe the MSU necroguard list will work because their base cost got reduced for some weird reason. ” Wrote in a hurry and mistyped - The changes SUGGESTED to the Hereditary are what I meant.

Just having it affect statues once would be an option, yes. Notably, the changes in the book currently push skeletal-heavy gameplay, which I'm all for as a band-aid for the big issues between statues and non-statues (except chariots). It's not optimal, but it's something to keep the army fresh.

I think that the simplest fix that would work the best at this stage would simply be to change the wording on the first clause of an Amplified spell as thus: • If targeting a Large or Gigantic non-Character model, the Casting Value of the amplified version is increased by 2. (because I don't think our characters need to be punished)

Better option would have to make it only cost extra on the Statues and perhaps on Chariots, this doesn't really change anything in terms of what the army can use because skeletons and NG suffer even more from this than statues. The price drops on them are more or less deserved even without the nerf to healing.

Quote from Herminard: “You recall the bone wall you once played against me @Palmu @Nicreap? ” I can't recall if I ever played mine against you, but I miss those lists. Can't have many regrets about the loss, since I was a major proponent in causing them to disappear, but I do regret that choice. Thankfully no mistake is eternal in this game and can always be recovered from with time.

  • You STILL imply there's been something like that in use for the WDG book? Give it a rest. Or don't. But I'm not engaging your delusions any further.

  • I've been literally there, doing the pricing ever since the BLT was dissolved. There has not been such a component for a long time. If you don't like the price, that's fine - But don't pull misinformation out of your behind and spread it around, that leads to players who only glance at the forums getting the wrong pictures and spreading misinformation further, and someday down the line we have to answer questions about that. Like. Right. Now.

  • Quote from Shukran: “so chosen cost is balanced? Intetrsting since they, are quite no no without helmaw ” What do these two things have to do with each other, and where did you pull out the assumption I believe Chosen cost is fine from?

  • Quote from jimbo81: “3. The cost of the Helmaw function has been built in to the Warriors. ” Nein. This sort of pricing hasn't been used in the past two years. The price of units that synergize with other units is only reflected in the synergy piece. Or in other words, Hellmaw is costed with the assumption that it is played with units that make best use of it, but units that can make use of it don't pay for that ability. That sort of pricing is only ever used for certain items, these days.

  • That's what I call "colossal waste of a Portent", then.

  • Quote from WastelandWarrior: “With lygurs and ironfist and scarification up its pretty likely to do no wounds ” That would require the WDG player to fail to get a single alchemy spell through, mind. This doesn't happen often.

  • Quote from Happy Aspid: “Never build list around FO, and never seen other people build it around FO either. If anything FO is the only monster that don't rely on synergy with rest of the army. FDE is the opposite - too expensive and fragile to go without babysitting. Even alone and isolated - FO still a great threat to everything. FDE - one wrong move, or not very successful round of combat - and Poof! - you just lost >450p model without doing anything usefull with it. ” Mind that nearly all FO …

  • Quote from Phosphorus: “Interessting...but if that is true (to some extent...what happened exactly? Why is UD now Top and HE Flop ?Were are the "big" changes in the certain army lists which made the difference? And HE were indeed on the Top in 8th . ed.? ” In the case of HE? The army attempts to be a Jack of All Trades army, but with elite troops with ineffectual stats and crazy high prices. They shone as a top dog for a short while, with access to some real good item synergies, which were then …

  • Alchemy is also a great combo with the FO, with two spells that lower the enemy armor, if they have some. Glory of Gold on FO still surprises a lot of people who have yet to internalize that Armor Piercing is now a stat. Alchemy is good for Exile-Irredeemable lists in general, providing Armor to Forsworn, Flammable for Portent and armor penetration for the poor low-AP dudes.

Quote from Dopey: “A daemon symbtiote has access to both manifestations and special equipment. It’s also somewhat an exalted herald-lite. Interesting thing. ” The background implications are a big part of why it's in the book. The TRUE combination of mortal and daemonic, with the strengths of both and weaknesses of neither, a perfect being. Perhaps the most dangerous endgame of a Cult coming to true power is the creation of an army of such things. Not from peasants and heralds, but from heroes a…
