  • Quote from DanT: “My PhD is in theoretical cosmology (I write about my research field HERE if you are interested). ” Thank you for that link, I just read a couple of the latest WIMPS and really liked them. Being a big Carl Sagan (and N-D Tyson) fan, I very much enjoy the vulgarization of astrophysics. Yet another DanT blog to follow!

  • Forge Wardens seem like a decent buy now (although I'll never stop asking for their old rules back, such a waste). If I were yo I'd go for a full unit with Vanguard, that way you can be certain of being in range of whatever juicy target you want to flame.

  • Quote from Valmir Von Eisendorf: “Hi! My team Boar and Chocolate challenge Les Chevaliers de la Table Rase. The main goal was to avoid playing another belgian team and people we play against really often. Also we find their team name funny. We are waiting for their answer. ” @Aegitru

I needed some Gargoyles for my army, so I got the new Warcry Chaotic Beasts box from GW. • I actually enjoyed the less pompous/snarky approach. (I find that the Furion internet persona doesn’t do justice to the amiable lad behind it) It was a good game that showcases a lot of excellent strategies and the way you can manipulate terrain and units to your advantage. Thanks a lot for all the time and work you put into this Jerzy, looking forward to the next one.

  • Quote from Herminard: “My apologies to @youngseward for not being able to keep my tounge in yer thread. Looking forward to your updates! ” I agree, we could ask a Mod to move the post to general BH discussion?

  • Quote from clorens: “you tell me about a tournament and I 40 ,Come on, you're going to deny me that the most used unit in all beast lists are the minos and that the most used core are the Mongrels.and that they put all who can fit tell me how many of these units were in the ETC and it cannot be that the pairs cost the wildhorns 2p and the spears leave them at 1p when the latter are better or leave both at 1p or 2p ” First off, I have to say that I admire your passion for the Beast Herds. I'm new…

  • I officially declare that my least valuable unit in my army are the mongrels with wild herd banner. They are there because I lack the models to field a second Wildhorn unit. Also, whether the minotaurs have shields or paired weapons has so far played no role in t all in my games. If you wait for a couple week I’ll hopefully have a tournament report to back my claim, mr Clorens. Back on topic: there’s no way to go but up, @youngseward , lets go for a good day 2 performance! Thanks for the reporti…

  • It seems that I have neglected to answer this: Quote from ZardukZarakhil: “Hi I am having the problem that currently in my group I am finding my DL magic phase is overpowering and my friends don't really know how to counter/play against it. The trouble is im not sure if I know how to counter/play against it either so I cant offer them great advice atm. Omen Master Div (Unerring Strike, Fates Judgement, Scrying, Stars Align) Deceiver Protean Master (Spectral Blades, Ravens Wing, Hand of Heaven, S…

Greetings! It has been a while, but I'm back to the painting desk. This season will bring hopefully a lot of painted models from my latest army: the Beast Herds! Last year I bought an army off the internet, painted at a decent tabletop standard (4-5 colours, a wash, some basic highlights, sand/small rocks on the bases). Over the next few months I'll be touching up the models, repairing any damage, basing them properly and presenting them to you! That's not to say that there won't be any newly pa…

  • I'm the opponent in question. The internet being what it is, I think that some clarifications are in order. Here's my reply to James' video on youtube: Quote from SmithF: “ Great battle report ,James! Like I said in person it was awesome getting to play against you in real life. Our game was one of the best ETC games I've ever had! You guys were a very fun team and very enthusiastic about our hobby, which is always great to see. I'll be going into detail about the game in my own battle report ov…

  • Thank you for that post, @Furion. It is informative and gives some insight on what kind of games happen at the top tables. How does all that need for measuring and careful calculations impact the game pace? Did you manage to finish all of your games on time ? My personal observation is that the quest for the perfect play slows the game down to a crawl on occasion. This might penalise an offensive army more than an all around or even defensive build. Looking forward to your reports ! Smith

  • Fun fact: a unit of bladedancers goes through any of UD's units like it's nobody's business. And I'm not even referring to the buffed unit, just your run of the mill 13 BD + BD chieftain. When playing SE it wasn't the UD that were the issue (unless fielding 80 archers, but even then the Forest Eagles and Kestrels more than deal with them), but rather Vermin Swarm, Saurian ancients and shooty Elves. I agree that ease of use and reliability can be issues for SE. BUT Taking into account the current…

  • Apologies for the inaccuracy, then. I disagree with you on the usefulness of Blade Dancers, and the internet seems to disagree with you on the usefulness of Pathfinders. That doesn't mean you're wrong, but it doesn't make you right either: it's a matter of taste as it is a matter of playstyle. I admit that compared to Kestrels the Wild Hunters seem to be lacking, but I guess that if we want them to retain both their maneuverability and their hitting power they'll always be super expensive and vu…

Another thing that we should stop and consider is that what we (as in: the hardcore tournament-going group) perceive as a LONG time with a stable version is in fact not that long for someone who only gets a gaming evening once or twice per month. For that person, anything less than a year's worth of stable rules means that he practically has to relearn the rules every three or four games. And that is a bigger problem than some tournament players considering that the scene has gone stale. That do…

  • I can only like your post once, DanT. But here's a post that offers some more support. I also find it funny that @tutajec is in the same team as @Laik who wouldn't stop mentioning how SE cannot play without trees and how his lists are no longer effective. Polish diversion tactics or just two different takes on the same book? (on a side note, I'd have brought my eagle/bladedancer list to this year's ETC in a heartbeat if my team mates didn't consider the DE monster mash easier to pair)

  • Quote from nantuko: “I’m more worried about small size blade dancers, maidens, pathfinders, forest guards and all our magical items and aspects which are heavily under selected or not selected at all. ” This must be clearly a local meta thing. All of those things are quite often seen in lists around these parts. The big maiden unit with champion never became a mainstream thing, and we are all in agreement that the "always stand and shoot" part of QtF is sorely needed if we're to see big units on…

  • @logick @bolard Two very good players from Belgium, with international experience, who might be interested.

  • Quote from Anomanderake: “You are obviously aware of the fact that you can’t grab points with the shooting you are using, this is not guerrilla, is barely a monocac. I know (because I follow your posts XD) that you prefer going full CaC, but again, in this case I would opt for the 5d6 stomp monster mash chaos list instead than for SE. and you’re not fielding a bsb while having 3 frenzy units (wich I won’t field anyway because they’re too fragile but that’s another matter). ” Then we have a very …

  • Quote from Anomanderake: “Ok, i’ll go playing shooty avoidance. Let’s throw inside 20 sentinel, 10 pathfinder and... nothing more, I can’t field any other mobile shooting. In my DE list I can field 3 hunting chariot, 20 raven cloacks and 15 dark rider. They have a way better ranged output, and I can still field a peggy lord, 2 kraken and 2 acolytes unit for a strong offensive magic phase and cac. Ok, let’s go with something else, avoidance is toxic anyway. I will go full guerrillia! Ok, then I n…
