  • Here's some more of my thoughts regarding Wild Huntsmen & Briar Maidens: Wild Huntsmen - Thematically they are my favourite unit, I find the real world myth of the Wild Hunt incredibly engaging. I used to always take them in my lists because of this theme regardless of their efficiency but after the 1.3 update cycle I found them to be quite the liability most of the time and noticed an immediate improvement in my performance at events after I had dropped the unit. I find they are a very "RPSy" u…

  • 1. Araves Infantry (male arabians) 2. Charemises (female arabians) 3. Valkyries I was a Shield Maiden & Forest Goblin kickstarter backer. I would love to see the same love and attention given to a fantasy Arabian army! There aren't a lot of options on the market for such models and a unified product line could look amazing. Cheers!

  • Hello! This update came out faster than I had anticipated, woot! Here's my hot take without playing any games yet: Bough of Wyscan: I believe a deeper discount was needed to give this item a chance to see some play. Although the change does allow a Pathfinder Chieftain to take this + a newly discounted Horn of the Wild Hunt for an okay support character I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Lifeseed Feathers: This item will remain unselected Mist Walkers Mirror: This item is still too expensive to take on a charact…

  • Here's my own personal wishlist: - Remove Electoral Calvary as a unit and make Knightly Orders a special unit . A Knight Commander then allows you to take a unit of Knightly Orders as Core. - Remove the Light Lance Reiter option and make it it's own unit in Core (maybe call them Hussars or Imperial Calvary?). Give this new unit Support Unit and some weapon options such as Hand Weapons, Shields, Lances, Handguns, & Bows. - Give KotSG a Calvary pick option or let them use a Halberd + Shield in Clo…

  • I am a fan of Paired Weapons /w Heroes Heart + Troll Ale Flask

  • Updated to 2.1.4 This is a bigger update than I had originally planned. With the current trends emerging in the DE discussion threads for their upcoming LAB it became clear that the project was going to pursue lowering their magic access by locking the Oracle with 3 paths and having an Acolyte with 2 others as an Adept. In the interest of keeping this homebrew within the bounds of the project's philosophy for magic I feel that ultimately the 5 paths option is unrealistic. As much as I am sad to …

  • Hey all! While I am enjoying the current SE book quite a bit, it still has it's flaws. For me it's primarily related to the narrowed themes and extreme streamlining process the book has had over these last few years. But since this is a points update those concerns will not be addressed at this time. So with that being said, barring the special items section and a few standout entries I don't think the internal balance of the book is particularly bad. Externally the usual suspects are causing th…

  • Here's a more fleshed out version of an idea for an assassin I have previously posted: (Hidden Content) Hidden: Beyond being highly thematic, the ability to be consistently deployed where it is needed most makes pricing the model easier since its nearly always going to be fighting it's preferred target. This also opens up interesting builds involving MSU infantry units. Marked for Death: This is an attempt to create a deadly assassin that's great against its chosen target but mediocre against R&…

  • Something I would like to see all the assassin type characters in the game get is a army specific version of Ambush. I suggested an Ambush from forests type ability for SE Shapeshifters and something similar for the DE assassin would be pretty cool! (Hidden Content) I think this recaptures the feel of an assassin lurking in the shadows waiting for the right time to strike. It gets around the old clunky mechanic of writing down where it is (the assassin was simply where it was needed most all alo…

  • Here's my two cents: Repeater Crossbow / Repeater Auxiliaries (Hidden Content) Repeater Handbow (Hidden Content) I am sure some of the rules text could be cleaned up in the examples above. The goal is try and meet the desired design goal while keeping rules bloat down. I dunno if Supporting Fire is too strong, the ability to cancel out stand & shoot and flee reactions at will is quite powerful. But it does require the proper units to be in position and for the Auxiliaries to be within 18" at a m…

    Post

Quote from theunwantedbeing: “ - check whether the template/forest will fit where you want it to go - before moving any unit, note exactly where it is using multiple markers, dice work - move the unit very carefully and don't drop it ” Not sure if these suggestions would work in this case. I was placing it underneath a TFA (the bearer) and a unit of thicket beasts. Knowing it would fit wasn't an issue and placing a marker where the unit was wouldn't really work either since then you place the fo…

  • Sacred Seeds

funkyfellow - - Sylvan Elves (SE)

    Post

Sweet template! Out of curiosity has anyone had issues when placing the forest underneath their own units? I took the seeds to an event a few months ago and there was one particular combat where I think the angles got severely messed up because of models bumped around as I was trying to fit the forest underneath multiple friendly units. This then allowed some charges into a flank that I think we're originally to the front. Any tips on avoiding this situation? (beyond not taking the item to begin…

  • I used some insta-mould putty to press mold the base the Dragon came with. Here's an inspirational image of what I have planned and have been testing out: l5r.fandom.com/wiki/Mirumoto_Ishino There is a large amount of lovely artwork from the Lot5R setting that suits this army perfectly. I got side tracked the last two weeks with some SE projects that came up for a team event, I had been hoping to debut these guys at the event but that just isn't in the cards Updates will be slower than I hoped b…

  • I am personally ambivalent on the Elven stat line, if it stays the same that's cool but I would also be open to tweaks. If it did change I would personally vote for the removal of Lightning Reflexes as a baseline rule for all elves (leaving it on Great Weapon users) in favour of slight stat bumps based on the flavour of elf and an overall points decrease. Dread Elves: Offense 5 baseline, with elites at Off 6 and Characters at 7+. Highborne Elves: Defense 5 baseline, with elites at Def 6 and Char…

  • I believe the player registered as a SE player, played WDG in the tournament instead, and used orc models to represent his WDG.

  • @msu117 I have been getting mine from Sarissa Precision for years now (before the 9th Age project started). sarissa-precision.com/collections/trays They come with the frame detached so I add a layer of rubber steel to the top before gluing the frame on, I then magnetise the bases that come with the tray by drilling in a rare earth magnet to keep them flush with everything. I finish it off by texturing the base and gluing a sheet of fridge magnet to the bottom of the tray for transportation purpo…

  • Hello! I have been slowly accumulating and building an army using Titan Forge's Dragon Empire line between other projects this year (I was a kickstarter backer back in 2018). I recently finished constructing about 4500 pts of models (using HBE rules) and decided to start a project log as I work to paint up this army. Here's the army mostly assembled (Hidden Content) While I have had a decent amount of experience building resin models before I have never attempted to construct a whole army out of…

  • Converted to a PDF file & Updated to 2.1.3 This updates purpose was to add Cosmology access and change Path access to accomadate it. I decided to incorpote Cosmology into the seasonal themes this homebrew presents. It represents the cyclic nature of the seasons and conceptualizes idea that change is constant (the updated seasonal themes blurb in the first post now reflects this). I believe this is ultimately the best solution concerning the Path Access question for SE. It allows for the various …

  • Added links to possible models for new units/upgrades in the first post Updated to 2.1.2; The update was targeted at correcting mistakes as well as taking in some feedback. I had hoped for this to be the final update that alters rules and to only follow up with updates that strictly stick to points adjustments and corrections but a recent discussion in the SE general forums brought up the possibility of dropping Divination and magic from the Sylvan Spirits to make room for both Cosmology and Wit…

  • Here is a good example of an upcoming range of models with that darker fay/witchy vibe for those who are interested: Edit: The kickstarter link won't work Google up Atlantis Minatures Wood Elves Kickstarter if your keen to see some amazing renders! Just learned of this Kickstarter myself, and I am seriously considering replacing my GW stuff with this (even though I just splurged on some Titan-Forge Dragon Empire). I find they really captured the essence of the current SE books background materia…
