  • Quote from The Matt: “DS 9 lamia comandment skeletons, yes please! ” It'll just get Commandment a "...and cannot be improved" added on to the end of the rule prevent that happening, or the rule will get nerfed some way like you only get Off or Def set to 6, not both.

  • You've misunderstood. Ambushers turn up at the end of Step 2 of the Movement Phase. Moving units is Step 3, so they appear before units are moved. You're then free to move the Ambushing unit (with a few restrictions like no marching for example). However you do count as moving whether you move them or not, so incur penalties to hit for moving and shooting if you attempt to shoot with models in the unit. It's worth reminding yourself of the Ambush rule as there's quite a bit to it. the-ninth-age.…

  • Quote from EBD: “I guess I could rephrase my question to: why wasn’t this implemented when WS was changed to Off/Def? ” That was a big enough change by itself, that and the rules freeze wasn't planned at that point so it was likely just put off until later...but later never happened. Since you suggested the change, do you have any idea's for how to resolve all the other effects that interact with it or work in a similar way? ie. Would you change paired weapons, and if so how? Would you change li…

  • Quote from EBD: “I’d say the Pros outweigh the Cons, but I may be missing something. Why would the current version be preferred? ” Few more cons: - It's a core rules change and the rules are frozen so we're not changing it - It changes other things and those other things would also need changing and we don't like doing multiple changes at a time While those aren't cons with the rule suggestion itself, they are the hurdles any change to the rules has to get over to get implemented right now and i…

  • Quote from Gepetto: “So what about making vampiric models immune to unstable? ” ...but then vampires can't join most units. And if we do let them for whatever reason, does this mean they get to be unbreakable while the unit crumbles around them? That doesn't seem entirely fair. But if we let them crumble as normal...well, that's exactly the same as it is right now. It's a neat idea of course but it does pose a few issues.

  • Quote from LeVil1: “But if I have to pay for a unit, take some time to paint it, it's not to see it flee from the field on the first or the second turn. ” ...yes but they're a low discipline army, they're supposed to have low discipline values. Quote from LeVil1: “And above all, to cannot use it as I should because of a bad dice roll on a Dis check. ” If you want to never fail a discipline test "due to bad dice rolls" then you'll have to play an army that doesn't take discipline checks, because …

  • Quote from SlaveToThePyre: “I think Core should not be just a tax. It should be a coin. The more you pay for Core, the more you get from other sections. ” That's still a tax. It doesn't solve the issue of core not being considered viable or worth taking, if core is mandatory in some form there's no incentive to make it worth taking. I do like the idea though.

  • Strigoi? They get +1 health point Although I don't see why you'de rely on Res5 and a single D6 roll to get one wound back each Melee Phase, rather than Armour (I know Strigoi can't wear any) and an Aegis Save like everyone else relies on. Plus you can regain wounds through magic (not ideal, but most armies either can't or it's a pain for them pull off). Quote from Grouchy Badger: “There we go again with the "remove it lets not fix it" mentality. It just needs a value change, like making it a 3+ …

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “My 2 cents: The game doesn't need a universal core tax. There can be situational core taxes which when in actuality could be a tax in any catagory for that particular unit. Best example I can think of is HBE that have a Fast Cav Chaff unit in core that has a tax but the army also has an Eagle chaff in special for very cheap. ” Without the core requirement, nobody takes Elein Reavers as chaff until they've got 2 units of Eagles. Without the core tax (ie. Elein Revers are c…

  • Ah, you're confused by the way the rules use the term "Full Rank" to mean something other than "the Rank is full". for your example, The rear rank is a Full Rank, despite not being a full rank (of models). Think of it more like this: - Complete rank this is a rank where every space in the rank is filled with a model - Incomplete rank this is a rank where every space in the rank is not filled with a model - Full Rank this is a rank where there are at least the minimum number of models filling spa…

  • It doesn't need to be there. It just is there due to legacy reasons.

  • Quote from Remy77077: “Quote from theunwantedbeing: “...the Gargantula crew are forest goblins, so get poisoned attacked. As before, it's not listed in the special rules in their offensive profile just like all the other racial rules aren't for any orcs or goblins in the army. ” I've not yet played T9A full rules yet, but using rules-as-written there's no way the Gargantula crew get poisoned attacks at the moment. I am sure that's been ruled a bunch of times on this forum too. Forest Goblin race …

  • Quote from Rubert: “Quote from theunwantedbeing: “Quote from Rubert: “Right now it’s extremely confusing, specially the Forest goblins, because they always have poison except when they ride a big spider. It doesn’t make any sense. Or they have poison or they don’t, but the fact that depending on the mount they gain/lose rules is wrong. ” Forest Goblin Raiders do have Poisoned Attacks, it's just not listed on the Offensive profile as it isn't listed on regular forest goblins either. ” Forest gobl…

  • Quote from Rubert: “About getting a bonus when charging in the flank/rear, I guess it’s fluffy, but it’s not even going to happen, and if it does, it’s bc the opponent is letting you do it. With M4 you are not charging anyone in the flank/rear. ” Not on their own at any rate. Quote from Rubert: “I think the best option is to unify goblins into an unique profile, with Strength *edit* 2 and Toughness 3.And then give them a lot of options of equipment (bows 1ppm, spear and shield or just shield)and…

  • Quote from trulyelse: “Quote from theunwantedbeing: “Vs Dwarves they'll go from doing 0.8 wounds per 10 attacks at St3, to 0.4 wounds at St2. They won't even notice a difference. ” 50% effectiveness is not noticeable to you? ” St3 does 200% the damage that St2 does (in the example I used)

  • Quote from arwaker: “Tbh I'm not so keen in Goblins having S2 only. That gave them a serious disadvantage against their traditional arch enemies, the dwarfs. I think their S3 R3 is fine as it is. Goblins should not be pure chaff and tarpit, they need at least some small offensive potential aside from their fun-stuff. ” Vs Dwarves they'll go from doing 0.8 wounds per 10 attacks at St3, to 0.4 wounds at St2. They won't even notice a difference. And docking the strength means you can buff the mount…

  • Quote from xaby86: “Hahaha man, that would be nice, but when I say something it's something extra apart from +1Dis, some damage, especially with S2, reroll 1s, +1AP, something like that. ” I know, that's why I suggested St2 instead of any combat buff rules. But why do core goblins need to be more lethal in combat?

  • Quote from xaby86: “I also think they should have something more... ” Strength 2. They're goblins, they're weak, pathetic and cowardly but very numerous. This means we can give them nets and mad gits or shady gits to make them more dangerous overall in combat for the same price tag.

  • Quote from arwaker: “There are ideas to provide Goblins some kind of bonus for/in flank or rear attacks. How could those rules look like? Is that something people want at all? ” +1 Discipline when Flanking an enemy unit They're braver when flanking an enemy, but the enemy isn't more bothered about being flanked by them than by other units. Flanking doesn't make them suddenly stronger or more powerful in some way though, they just get braver when they think they've got the enemy at a disadvantage…

  • Quote from Eol: “Radian, 24” is not long range shooting unit for an elf, specially without volley fire and without move an fire without penalty rule. ” Maybe that's what they need then?
