  • Quote from Huntsmen: “Now to add my own insight and to avoid a completely complaining post....prior to the points update my favourite unit was 21 Barbarians with muso, paired weps and throwing weps. Cheap scoring that have inbuilt rerolls means they would operate away from the main threats. They present enough of a threat not to be ignored and often take decent resources to be dealt with. They pump out a great deal of str 4 as well as providing board presence and ranks when needed. ” Hmm...This …

  • Quote from Zamo: “Thyroscutus is laughing at this right now ” Thyroscutus isn't a monster and is thus disqualified.

  • Quote from Jelle89: “Quote from Palmu: “Quote from Jelle89: “My oppinion is they need D6 stomp. ” Normally I avoid responding to powermongering replies, but I had to come here to laugh at you. ” Do you also laugh at abomonation? ” Yes - That thing doesn't do anything right, and is likely THE worst monster in the game.

  • Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “I think the original wings-build is DanT's creation. It has been used extensively by ExaltedHerald, who came up with the rocketman name, I think. The boots-lord, or "the evolved form", is a build I came up with, popularized by DanT. Ironically, I've only used the build once myself. ” Good to know. It's a great character, and I thank you for this innovation.

  • Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “Congrats on the placement. It's an interesting list. I can't help but think that it has very few units that can take a charge - and very little chaff to prevent unwanted charges? I mean, ok, the warriors can sort of tank a charge, especially if the lord hasn't left them yet, but all the other stuff die if charged by units with ranks. Don't they? ” Yes, I was constantly pressured in my games and had to play quite carefully...Unless I slapped the Herald, Lord or…

  • Quote from Ira: “Quote from namadeva: “What is a rocket man? A cowboy? Cheers, ” I guess that it's the name of the Chosen Lord since he's super fast thanks to boots and envy, and just get launched and unleash hell on the opponent with his numerous attacks and the spiked shield + dusk forged + the +1 to be hit ! Which sounds like a lot of fun by the way ! ” Aye, it's the nickname for the Wing/Boots Chosen Lord, can't recall who used it first but it's fitting. I think the name comes from the origi…

  • I like that too! More MSU than mine. I'd consider trying to fit the Relentless Company on one of the Warrior units, though. To act as a launching pad for the rocket - That 15" march within a safe bunker was an absolute godsend in my games. As soon as I get the models, I'll try 2x7 Knights and 2x5 Knights - Two units to look for fights, two units to look for opportunities. And an unit of Warhounds for good measure.

  • I don't know about that - It had 2 dragonseekers in two vanguarding Seekers, a runesmith and BSB in a box of graybeards, two units of handgunners, two bombers and an anvil. Unit of Knights+rocketman charged the other unit on turn 1 after they vanguarded forward and killed them to the last man, losing only the champion in the process. Smite the Unbeliever was quite the critical boost there, though.

  • Used my first free weekend in a month to take part in a tourney with the following list, finishing second with 69p: Chosen Lord: General, Trophy Rack, Favor of Envy, Idol of Spite, Spiked Shield, Symbol of Slaughter, Thrice Forged, Dusk Forged, Ranger's Boots 630 Sorcerer: Adept, Evocation, Dark Chariot, Plate Armor, Paired Weapons (Hero's Heart), Basalt Infusion, Rod of Battle 435 Exalted Herald: 835 20 Warriors: FCG, Favor of Envy, Halberds, Banner of the Relentless Company 765 10 Warhounds: 1…

  • I recall at least one of us wanting them to be large, but after the period of time whete everyone played three units of 2 vultures, we were a bit worried about flying ogres and kept them Standard.

  • My wild opinion has for the longest time been to decouple raising from magic, but it's largely been unpopular. "Heal based on missing health" is one of my favourite mechanics when it comes to healing in videogames, and I think it could also work on tabletop. I think Necrons in 40k have a similar mechanic as well, where they keep track of casualties and roll a dice once every turn to see how many of them get back up. Balancing such an ability is of course a different question altogether.

  • While we have to make do with our imagination when it comes to naming stuff, In-universe the titles make a lot of sense, given that while clearly a male title it's also a neutral statement - A Chosen Lord is one who 'lords over those chosen by the gods'.

  • Folks over at UD are downright cordial, what's going on over there is a constructive discussion on what could be done with the army and what fixes would be better. Basically everyone there was well aware of what was broken in the book and would get hit.

Quote from Echunia: “How did a skeleton heavy list become more viable if the hereditary stays in its current shape? To me these changes seem to shift the focus from monstrous infantry to monsters instead. Skeletons are too reliant on healing to be viable with such an expensive hereditary. Maybe the MSU necroguard list will work because their base cost got reduced for some weird reason. ” Wrote in a hurry and mistyped - The changes SUGGESTED to the Hereditary are what I meant.

Just having it affect statues once would be an option, yes. Notably, the changes in the book currently push skeletal-heavy gameplay, which I'm all for as a band-aid for the big issues between statues and non-statues (except chariots). It's not optimal, but it's something to keep the army fresh.

I think that the simplest fix that would work the best at this stage would simply be to change the wording on the first clause of an Amplified spell as thus: • If targeting a Large or Gigantic non-Character model, the Casting Value of the amplified version is increased by 2. (because I don't think our characters need to be punished)

Better option would have to make it only cost extra on the Statues and perhaps on Chariots, this doesn't really change anything in terms of what the army can use because skeletons and NG suffer even more from this than statues. The price drops on them are more or less deserved even without the nerf to healing.

Quote from Herminard: “You recall the bone wall you once played against me @Palmu @Nicreap? ” I can't recall if I ever played mine against you, but I miss those lists. Can't have many regrets about the loss, since I was a major proponent in causing them to disappear, but I do regret that choice. Thankfully no mistake is eternal in this game and can always be recovered from with time.
