So let me guess what the current Spanish meta looks like: - Empire of Sonnstahl: big block of Imperial Guard, big block of Halberds/spears, 3x Light infantry, Steam Tank, Cannon + characters and chaff (Divination magic) - Dwarven Holds: Two variants: Full Vanguard with Double/Triple Seeker block, Full Shooting MSU (Engineer general, double Organ Guns, small warrior/Longbeard darts, as many Steam Copters as you can legally field) - Kingdom of Equitaine: Druidism Master, Duke on Pegasus with Pegas…

I just listened to the kiwi podcast Whispers of the Veil (link: cltlb7.podbean.com/?fbclid=IwA…UUeZgUqQotWQB3iaIFLEfyrlM) The Beast Herd list of the NZ masters looks like this: Quote from McCrae: “ Beast Herds Beast Lord, GENERAL, Great Weapon (Blessed Inscriptions), Destiny’s Call 350 Beast Chieftain, BSB, Greater Totem Bearer, Great Weapon, Essence of Mithril 305 Soothsayer, Wizard Master, Evocation, Raiding Chariot, Light Armour, Basalt Infusion, Potion of Strength 455 23 Wildhorn Herd, Full …

I think it's more of an issue of the Spanish tournament scene rather than anything else: I've noticed that there's a lot of copying of successful/netlists for all armies. There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't think it's the only way to go. On the contrary, the more people play the same and the same, the more it entrenches them even deeper into their conviction. It is to be expected that when a list wins a tournament (or three), some players will attempt to copy it. But over time this copy…

Hey! No, since the strength and AP is not *SET* to 5 and 3 respectively. So a Prince with Sylvan Blades and Hero's Heart normally has S5 AP3. If perception of strength is cast on him, he'll become s5 AP4 normally, so this would take precedence over Hero's heart. But he won't get an "extra" point of strength.

Quote from moloch: “other matter. What is the use of hereditary? ” I take it in very special occasions. It can be game-changing against certain armies with good leadership but susceptibility to fear (for that -2 to the break check). In essence, if you can rely on your unit to win combat, it helps break stubborn and steadfast units. As a plus, a failed fear save - while not something to be relied upon - brings a nice boost to the survivability of the units. The current problem with the applicatio…

And think tha you are spending 1000 points for 500.... and only if you are lucky you will do some wounds... 2 horrors that are the same price as 3 ciclops are far better .... 2 screams at same ciclop will die and swarm of insects yeah, the…

  • Here are my thoughts after playing several games with an all-elf combat list. Heath Rider price drop + Predator Pennant drop puts them in a very decent spot. The Devastating charge effects is what this unit needs to be impactful, especially when it's 10+ strong. Horn of the Wild Hunt: It allows more aggressive play by enabling a safety net for combo charges. It also makes 10+ swiftstride charges quite reliable, helping out with "sucker punch" charges. The price drops overall allowed me to get th…

Hobby update! The Razorgor/Centaurs are nearing completion: the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…85547e31b804c77299c83f459 I still need to decide on the final basing scheme of the army (static grass vs tufts and colour palette.. ideas?), and some minor details to pick up here and there. But for now I'll call them done and move on to other things: I had an afternoon of kitbashing/hacking away at plastic. Quote from clorens: “a good player will close back so that the ambushes do not enter and will keep 20 or more of your charges and when he cannot redirect, because if you start at 17 something you are already doing wrong allowing you to roll a 10 with the dice ” So a "good" player will allow me to claim the objective (be it spoils/hold the ground/secure and so on) and claim table space because I've got 2 x 10 Longhorns in Ambush? I'm fine with that, it means that in half the scenarios I'd be star…

Quote from clorens: “is that if the opponent is allowed to hunt the flank no matter what you load, a good opponent will not allow you to load the flank, nor that you ambush him behind ” Sometimes an opponent doesn't have the possibility to avoid that. After all, a Beast Herds army covers the entire battlefield with ease, and the combination of high movement and swiftstride means that you can attempt charges 16-17" away with very little risk. It has (almost) nothing to do with the opponent's leve…

Quote from Kolata: “I agree with you on some points, but what do you mean by 'Beastlord does the killing'? What is the build for beastlord on foot that makes him work for you? ” Beastlord, GW, LA, Destiny's Call, Blessed Inscriptions, Dragonfire Gem, Crown of Horns. It might be only 4 attacks, but rerolling everything means that you often get 3-4 kills even against tough foes. So the Wildhorns only need to tank a bit and you're winning the fight (and the grind, in the long run). Mind you, the Wi…

Quote from Mirdhynn: “On Mongrels it has been said : Even now, you have an identical impact with Mongrels & spears for a lower cost compared to wildhorns ” A wildhorn unit with shields is remarkably tanky. I've been using a 25-strong unit as my Beastlord's retinue, and would not change them for mongrels. They are one spell away from amazing (Gnarled Hide/Druidism buffs for example), and then they can bring their ranks and steadfast-negating potential while the Beastlord does the killing. On the …

The problem I see with this kind of feedback (Which is certainly better than no feedback at all!) is that it's everybody's informed guess more than anything else. How many of the players answering have actually tried the triple Cyclops? The only ones I know of is @Kolata and @Frederick and they have rocked the tournament circuit with them (even in singles, before anyone jumps to any conclusions). What about the double Jabberwock in a list designed to take advantage of the Discipline debuff? (Wha…

Case in point: @DanT managing impressive results with every single list he's taken, even the ones that are considered weak. Or @Furion leading "5th tier" HBE to victory again and again. Guys, take a deep breath ... it’s really going to be alright. The amount of options available is huge and even a 90 or 100 point increase to a list is actually a 2% change —> largely irrelevant. What’s more the change to divination helps the monsters immensely, as do the nerfs to the VS netlist. I believe all of the changes were warranted, I was starting to believe that the oracles all come with a dragon and the familiar as base equipment. A bit more variety is a good thing, and perhaps this upd…
