The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.

  • Quote from Chronocide: “By this, do you mean to suggest, indirectly, that players should post more data regarding WoDG battle reports? Or is there some other reason the data was scarce? ” That there just wasn't sufficient time to gather data. We mostly try to use quantitative tournament data.

Quote from Persedious: “Then it turns out, there IS room for rule changes provided they are nerfs or restrictions. ” Yes and that was said in public news posts -> that design changes will be instated where we assess that price changes alone will not fix the identified problem. In this last patch we identified both VC Dragons and Essence as an RPS issue we want to fix. Then we voted if fixing is going to be price (price Essence so high no one is going to take it, price VC Horrors so high you can'…

Quote from Mike newman: “and have all posted belief that the update overall has been very bad for VC. ” Was it not bad for UD, VC and WDG (HellMaw lists were targeted, personally I would hit them more) too? Quote from Mike newman: “If we accept VC have been placed in tier 2, then why has their nerfs been harder than nerfs of other armies in similar/higher army books? (See my post comparing VC to UD or chris talking about VS) ” Not according to our data. We looked at best tournament lists and poi…

Quote from Grouchy Badger: “We want YOUR teams REASONING for CHANGES as you CHANGE them. ” If ExB will want to record meetings again and make it public, sure. But I think it would be smart not to. Because people will hang on to statements and 5 pts / 2-5% changes like its a not a game with toy soldiers made by volunteers but a million dollar stakeholders meeting.

With pricing there is very little reasoning apart from: - where in the external power level is the army - where in internal power level is the unit So we just feed this two data points in our Python code and we get point costs. This is how we avoid bias. Of course you can be biased about external and internal power level, this is why we are transparent and made Tier list for external power level public. As for internal power levlel data we used publicly available data that is here: the-ninth-age…

@Blonde Beer you are always over stretching Let me be the punching bag. VC was considered #4 army (by our models which include EE data, single tournaments data, team tournaments data) before first point update and after point updates we still considered VC to be top3 army. This was based on our observations and EE feedback. This is why in latest point changes VC did not get as much reductions as other armies. This last update we were doing changes based more on macro outlook, which way RT wants …

About monster cap changes in VC?

  • Quote from Jelle89: “Im using WO somethimes because my Meta is mostly Elves BH VS and undead. ” I tried a single WO in some games and it showed good value if directed into right enemy unit (spear block or parry block, so S3) to tarpit.

  • Quote from Jelle89: “Grind attacks from Wretched ones are special attacks? So this means the spell won't work on them? Just to be certain ” Reroll to-wound works, Lethal Strike not.

  • Nothing more to share, maybe just needs more explanation as people apparently do not understand that first we establish external balance power level of current book, secondly we establish external power level of the builds, before doing price changes. For WDG in particular this means: Increasing HellMaw price means those lists now have lower peak power level -> we assessed those lists are above average. Leaving prices as-is on non-HellMaw, non-Monster mash lists -> we think external power level …

  • Quote from Happy Aspid: “Don't get me wrong - I am glad that entry present in 100% of my lists since 0.403 getting cheaper and cheaper, just can't comprehend - why. ” What you play is not considered good list and what top tournament players play Quote from Shukran: “A decision is a decision. In every way u see it. ” Even after last months price changes WDG was believed to still be top3 army. This is why other armies got more price cuts then WDG. I personally still think WDG is above average army…

Makhar are steppe people and use herding animals for survival. As said from start Makhar use their hunting tactics for war and one of them is using their knowledge of steppe animals for war too. My inspiration for it was intro of this Marco Polo episode: youtube.com/watch?v=Jzhwup4zIK4&t Instead of heaving a fantasy element of flaming horses, we used fantasy element of fictional animals being herded into the enemy.

Mammuth counts as Raining death for multiple reasons as @Chack said. Sort of like a soft comp for him. Increasing Raining Death percentage would be a good start. But on the other hand we are more then anywhere else playing on better safe than sorry approach on external power level when it comes to auxiliary books, and Raining Death number can always be changed after gold as it counts as part of a 'point change' and not redesign.

Valid point on Giant Bow. Problem is we designed it identical to UD Giant Aspen Bow for simplicity, that one is on 5+ but always hits on 5+. 4+ base is kinda comparable? Karkadan Herd base was made from Razortusk Herd. We are exploring base size convertibility dough. We did talk about making Recurve bow stronger on short range, but so far no consensus and we have to understand that this is a Core unit from Human army. Their eliteness level is already maximum (from myn personal T9A world design) …

That falls into a category of 'wish-listing', not a category of 'so broken it cannot be fixed by point costs' at which stage we are in.

Still is interesting as they had a perfectly fine and strong IP name in Juggernaut and Daemonic Steed, so it begs the question why introduce new name and if introducing it, why making it almost identical to T9A.

Quote from Drakkanor: “Not sure that it's a good example of a well thought solution tbh ” It was an example of the project changing things when they believe it cannot be fixed by pricing. That is the topic.
