Quote from Little Joe: “Ignore the subject matter, the method used is interesting. ” Looks really super cool to sculpt in VR, on my todo list when I will have a headset! Looks like the app uses the voxel approach to modeling, it could be better to make miniatures, not sure, there are pro and cons. It reminds me of 3dCoat (voxel modeling). Quote from Little Joe: “That is the brother of Shad from Shadiversity some of you might be more familiar with. ” Like real brothers !? How can they be, they lo…

Quote from piteglio: “i find it very appropriate that, during a time where the forum discusses once again the use of "proper" miniatures, both the spearhead of digital T9A and the sculptor/painter himself did not recognise that this is "just" a 2D miniature, created with a single photograph... ” For our defense, without stereoscopic vision a picture of a model looks just the same as a 3d model with a texture from a picture

Awesome!!! I wasn't expecting to see her so soon in the arena The photoscan looks great! However it is so weird to see her mirrored horizontally *EDIT* silly me, it is an image, not a 3d model Awesome you received the model though!

Quote from Little Joe: “That's pretty much amazing. Each sub assembly part is manifold and then you let the slicer stick them together? ” Exactly, it is important that all separate objects are manifold, and of course that the normals are correctly oriented outside. Well, it works with Chitubox not sure if it works with other slicers. I had issues where I had holes inside the model because of spaces I did't see when you stack objects on top of each other. For example for the head, my solution was…

Quote from piteglio: “i am curious about your comment on avoiding rigged bodies. in a sense, you could consider the rigged body itself a kind of library of "potential" poses. ” A poseable rigged body is not bad per se, the issue is it is very difficult to have nice looking and print-ready hands by flexing the fingers. It is much better to make the hand as a sculpted block, let's say a closed hand and an open hand, so you have no holes between the fingers and inside the hand, and it looks better …

Here is my last sculpt in Blender, Silvan Druid :). It was a request from @piteglio to add a model to his arena, and since I needed a new druid for my SE army... My experiments with 3d printing druid-sculpt.jpg concept.png Some technical details: The model is composed of many different objects that are not merged together (the staff is merged). I printed it on my Photon witout any issue (yay!). However I was worried for the fingers and the horns, as they are very thin. For the horns, I made it s…

Quote from Little Joe: “How about a month of sculpting challenges? Those seem to be very common: day one to make a sword, day two to make a small animal and so on. Should give a nice library for items to use. ” Wow, I had exactly the same idea a while ago, it could be very fun, but I don't know if there will be a lot of people that would participate, as this is a small niche (3d modeling) in a small niche (9th age) :D. I would totally take part though, we could post the items in thingiverse or o…

Quote from Little Joe: “What other methods are there? How would you sculpt a base? ” Simply combining 3d objects. For example I would sculpt 2-3 stones, and duplicate them across the base. I guess this is the method they use for the scarab base. I can print separate objects without issue, but if you want one single solid object, use the Blender voxel remesher with a small value to make one block with high resolution, then use the decimate modify to reduce triangle count.
