  • Ricochet is what kills the unit when another moves through it, not Shambolic. RAW fleeing units move through other units (...even though we don't really state that outright anywhere?) so no damage. RAI it's probably intended for fleeing units to take damage, since it doesn't use it as an example and it really should do if the intent was for fleeing units not to take damage from it but RAI is a meaningless concept as if it's not what's written it's not what you do.

  • Quote from Vulgarsty: “Any chance our next KoE army book could retain the “peasant levy” with no armour, 1 less discipline, no options, cheaper, for a properly atmospheric load of scum herded as cannon fodder, and introduce a proper “men at arms” unit into core ar Off/Def 3 and Dis 6 to fulfill that role - one still rightly worse than Imperial equivalents due to lack of synergies? ” They're Dis5 at the moment, dropping that to 4 feels a bit excessive given they're unlikely to ever be using their…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “How does this work with Daemonic Manifestations? Are they really considered "carried" items? ” Daemonic Manifestations are Special items. Yes they're considered "carried" items when a model has them, same as when any other model "carries" a special item.

  • At the moment though there are at least two good reasons not to let it S&S. 1. Undead don't do that It's not a thing they do, nor does the other Undead army and they're armed with bows so not only does it break the army-wide rule, it also opens up the ability for the undead communities to demand they get the same bonus. 2. It's potentially too powerful Currently the ranged scream does 1-4 auto-hits more than the 2-4 the combat scream does. That's more than enough to seriously mess up lighter/smal…

  • Quote from Krokz: “I have seen at least two very good design solution for HellMaw, ” Care to elaborate on what those two very good design solutions are?

  • Quote from King Kazador: “Not a fantasy unit. ” ...it's a unit in a fantasy game, so it definitely is. Quote from King Kazador: “Removes fantasy movement and strategy. ” It just changes these things from one form to another, much like how taking cavalry over infantry changes how you move and your strategy. Quote from King Kazador: “Movement spells belong in the magic phase. ” It's not a spell though, although it would be less problematic if you could dispel it. Quote from King Kazador: “Worst id…

  • It's always reminded me of the History Channel logo. Quote from Pellegrim: “I'm terrible at lay-outing, but something like this the-ninth-age.com/community/in…e946da70782f325bb278c6687 ” I like the basic idea, but the text reads funny. The Fantasy IX Age battles? The IX Age Fantasy battles? The Age Fantasy IX battles? IX The Age Fantasy battles? Here's my own terrible attempt at a clearer layout so feel free to rip on it the-ninth-age.com/community/in…e946da70782f325bb278c6687 I like this as it'…

  • That's not the intent. Although I do see how you can read it that way.

  • Quote from Calculon: “Am I incorrect? ” Yes, but also no. Quote from Calculon: “If so, is there a written clarification? ” Not as such, it's just assumed that range = maximum range. Ideally it'll get changed from simply saying range (under 14.C.a Long Range, and maybe everywhere else) and letting the player assume they mean the maximum range, to actually saying maximum range so the player has nothing to assume. You're more than welcome to play short range for weapons like the dwarven holds stone…

  • Quote from Svarten: “Yeah, I figured as much. Maybe if you put him on some sort of platform though? ” He'll fit on a 20x20mm base if you put him on a platform. It'de work, but picking the right platform to fit with the army might be tricky. Do you have pictures of your other miniatures we could see?

  • Round bases for Monsters and other larger single model units To actually make proper use of the round base rules a portion of the community so desperately demanded we keep. Or we remove them from the game entirely. Duel changes So they're either gone entirely or are actually used for the purpose of having two mighty characters clash in spectacular fashion instead of being denial tools for units fighting lone characters. BSB loses re-roll for Break Tests Nerfs deathstars and removes the need for …

  • This one? He might just about fit* if you turn the base to be 100x75mm. *he'll overhang a little bit.

Quote from Grouchy Badger: “Quote from theunwantedbeing: “The main downside I see is it's extra dice rolling, people will complain about that slowing the game down. ” wouldn't killing more models speed the game up though? ” I'm not sure to be perfectly honest. It was more that people would complain, rather than the complaint having any basis in reality as we've seen that people complaining enough will stop things from being pushed through. I do like the idea though, perhaps it would have to be i…

Is this in addition to just breaking an opponent from combat or something instead of auto-destroying an opponent when catching them?

  • Quote from Kratos: “Fluff players that tried t9a at their early stages fled due to constant changing. ” I'de be inclined to suspect the complete lack of any background lore was a bigger cause than the amount of changes being made, something that's still an issue today as most armies haven't got a legendary book. That and the game was and still is very tournament ("balance") focused which makes creating a fluff list quite tricky unless you are completely willing to disregard what the models rules…

  • Quote from arwaker: “Orcs and Goblins having DIS6 shows their Unruliness. +2 Panic and Break for Orcs shows their bravery. Maybe Goblins +1 for Rally. Rule end. ” That could work. Maybe roll it into Born to Fight for the orc benefit, and Goblins get a rule called Sneaky! or some such where +1 to rally is a part of the effect, the other part is something else, like Insignificant where they count as Insignificant if their unit is larger(has more models) than nearby friendly units. Born to Fight Th…

  • Quote from Cam: “Quote from duxbuse: “Quote from Nemeroth: “It’s not the repeater crossbow per se that is the problem, they are excellent on Raven Cloaks and Raiders(not that anyone will take those anymore at 215 for 5) because they have the rules to utilise them well. The problem is the auxiliaries who are useless because they can’t hit anything and when they do it’s for 2-3 puny S3 hits. This isn’t a problem that can be fixed with a points tweak. ” I disagree, if the unit cost 140 points for t…

  • Quote from CariadocThorne: “Failing to hit is no more frustrating than failing to wound. Actually, having played lower accuracy, higher strength type armies in other games, I find easily hitting with most of my attacks but then failing to wound with most of them, to be far more frustrating than simply failing to hit in the first place. ” I think a big part of it depends on what the expected result is. If you need a 2+ to hit with 5 attacks and miss 3 of them, that's frustrating. If you need a 6+…

  • Quote from Nanatoo: “Quote from Peacemaker: “T9A won't let it happen. So I'd rather they be a combat unit as well. If I want good long range shooting I'll play the other elf armies. ” Exactly. Stop pushing to make my precious DE just like other Elves. ” Yeah get rid of those bolt throwers as well while we're at it, if we wanted those we'de play HBE instead!
