  • DE 2.1 Balance Patch

Anomanderake - - Dread Elves (DE)

    Post

W8 m8s Seems like i can finally field LORD SU POLLO CON TRE POLPI DI CONTORNO (Manticore lord with 3 krakens) I guess i’m coming back to the battlefield even before the big update

  • I haven’t gone trough the reading of all the comment pages, so forgive me if i’m totally out of topic or if i’m saying something yet discussed. But in my view r&f focus + little ranged defense + no light troop + no special deployment is a major flaw, because you will be forced to rush combat (and you won’t be always able to pick up a good one) while also unable to effectively camp on secondary (wich is usually the strategy of r&f). So we need to be kinda super fast in my opinion.

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “ Please note that, from what we read in NS5, the Empire of Sonnstahl was founded several centuries after Sunna, as a result of a war against Dathen. So this could make DE are the second most hated enemy of EoS after VS, at least in history books and religion. ” totally missed this! Then, EoS and DE are enemy for sure - it’s even possible that EoS is promoting some kind of anti-Dathen ideology, for legitimation porpuose.

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “So, who do you think they would most likely ally / not ally with ? ” I see DE as a very composite and faceted society. While they are all involved in their republican stuff, they are also divided between cults and realistically parties. They’re a pluralistic society (sorta of). According to the fluff, as you pointed, some DE are involved in trading with ID, using intermediary. It’s very likely that other groups are trading with other non-elves races. DE are pragmatical, in s…

  • I see DE as mostly, but not completely, fitting in the portrait of the first Puritan colony in America (= Massachusetts). They banned hereditary titles (at the point that lord saye and sele, who beeing Puritan hinself supported economically the colony, didn’t settle there in order to keep his rank), they were (internally at least) a republic, they blamed pretty much the motherland and of course, they had a lot of cults (in form of different congregations). They lacked of slavery (at first) and o…

  • I remain of the opinion that we don’t really need to have “good” and “bad” guys in a fantasy setting. One can just describe them and left evaluations to the players - and the examples I brought at the beginning of the thread were in that direction. One can really call “good” the Malazan empire? Or the forces of the adjunct, who put in slavery her 12 years old sister in order to get, eventually, a great fight against an elder race? We could just describe KoE: feudal sistem, with all his flaws; gr…

  • Beeing the early modern age inquisition my main field of studies (with a focus on the first reformed Roman one, in the period of the rule of Giampietro Carafa, but I know something even about the more hispanico one) I would point out that the scientific research is switching from a perspective linked only to the religious struggle to another linked to the political and historical role of the inquisition (there is some resistance because obviously burning people isn’t something you can approve, b…

  • At the end of the day if we try to analize too much factions in terms of morality, they will be all neutral or evil, not because they actually are neutral or evil, but because the widespread sense in western country revolve around some kind of cultural relativism -> we don’t have a very strong sense of “right”, except for the stock of common values as freedom and democracy (and anyway they’re not absolute values... democracy was considered pretty much degenerative for long times before now). So …

  • I have a lot of theories about factions (wich I would to write down, but little time and poor english skills always stop me >.<). Anyway, I think the whole point is that, differently from Warhammer, every factions perceive himself as “good”. Maybe individuals can point some flaws, but in general they think theire sistem is the best available (in a similar way than modern western democracies). Even the chaos warriors, at the end of the day, work for a better world in the future. More conventional…

  • They will be my next krakens

  • They share the same category of raven cloacks and dark riders, so a lot of people would choose Spears anyway. I mean, I would field them *in addition to* 15 raiders and 20 cloacks. They’re crappy shooting, but still shooting.

  • I think blades are fine where they are... cheaply (200 pt) and great output. I’d rather work on Corsair and xbow.

  • 1- unlikely 2- major overhaul of the book incoming at the end of the year 3- bigger base ->weaker unit, no one wants to nerf dragons

  • Quote from arwaker: “You all have a lot of good suggestions here, but decisions are still made by a small group of designers. Would you prefer to have a set of designs and then make a vote within the community? The players could decide which design is implemented. Would you be more happy with such an approach? Even if the result of the vote would be not what you desired? Or would you rather think after such a (in your opinion bad) decision that the community is biased against DE and is not able …

  • Why can’t we simply have the ambush option on core corsairs? Isn’t like it would be the only ambush core...

  • I’d prefer to keep the cult as a background thing. But they’re not so terrible atm. my main complain is the altar/cult priest. I’d like to see it becoming a buff wagon OR a combat mount, with the related prices drops. Hopefully the latter. Edit: and the xbowmen

  • i like so much that eagle/kestrel model! Where did you buy it?

  • @SmithF for guerrillia I mean a list with a combined approach, where you can get points both from shooting and cc (and hopefully doing both thing in the same match). And no sry I don’t really like your last list XD but I can see some greatness in the @DanT one, I will try some tweaks :p (I don’t rate my skill hig enough to run a single chaff, but I like the concept).

  • You are obviously aware of the fact that you can’t grab points with the shooting you are using, this is not guerrilla, is barely a monocac. I know (because I follow your posts XD) that you prefer going full CaC, but again, in this case I would opt for the 5d6 stomp monster mash chaos list instead than for SE. and you’re not fielding a bsb while having 3 frenzy units (wich I won’t field anyway because they’re too fragile but that’s another matter). I lastly came out with the following list for SE…
