Quote from Grouchy Badger: “In all my years of playing this game both casually and tournament, not a single player has ever sweated charging into a barrow guard unit ” Hmm, have you considered the fact that you are playing them wrong? Chris mince scored the best VC result on ETC (90 points) using BG brick. I am playing BG brick and have used it against couple ETC players getting roughly 10 points per game average with BG being key unit every game. Quote from Grouchy Badger: “You may as well use …

Quote from grim squeaker: “Well, I know that on this forum there is (generally) a biased negative opinion about almost every release GW done recently, so I don't know if this info will give you any hope. ” I would say that GW definitely can release amazing miniatures (new ghosts and flesh eater courts are all awesome), so are Slaves of Darkness. On the other hand they also release utter garbage like the new "I have mountain with tiny trees on my shoulders space cow"

  • Quote from Eisenheinrich: “Quote from Lagerlof: “Quote from Kevin Bromley: “Giant with tribal warspear in a unit with only 2 barbarians left alive, how many ranks? If he doesn't count as having a rank, due to the majority of the unit being standard, does that allow standard height models to block LOS to the giants unit? ” They are 5 wide so the unit has 1 full rank.LoS is drawn on model bases. So he’s still gigantic for LoS ” Quote from Micalovits: “Arent they just 4 wide? Giant is 50mm +2 25mm …

  • Quote from Squee: “Except it won't, because no tournaments -> no data -> no points changes ” In Poland we are running UB tournaments at the moment, I guess other people figured it out as well.

Quote from Little Joe: “Just poking fun, but anyone liking pointy hats better start praying to Hashut on a diet. The images are not even worth it in my opinion, but here you go: (Hidden Content) ” Holy mother of God, what is this? These are probably among the ugliest miniatures I have seen.

Quote from Glonojad: “Excellent job! Also, nice idea to fit the size with the 2d terrain, means nothing looks from below, but when a unit enters the area You can remove the 3d version immediately. Is the half-ruined building a ruin or a building though? ” Half ruined one is impassable. Graveyard is ruins.

Quote from Baranovich: “Your painting and texturing on the stonework and the bronze surfaces of those towers and buildings is some of the best I've ever seen. And I say that with 30+ years of observing and critiquing really well done scale terrain. I'm not kidding, your stuff is photo-realistic. It could be used for miniature movie sets in special effects shots. Awesome!!! ” You are too kind! Thanks a lot!

Those who follow this topic know that I am avid modeller and painter and that I really value aesthetics high. Those who follow my battle report topic know that I am highly competitive player. It is really hard to combine these two when using gaming terrain - as the nicer the terrain gets the less usable it becomes when it comes to precise measurement and placement of miniatures. As a poor compromise I have been using 2D terrain for a while until I figured out that I could make 3D terrain to go p…

  • Quote from matrim: “@Adam Is that really the only part that raised an eyebrow??? ” I stopped reading there to be honest.

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “since most of the time you want to lose this role, drop everything and go first. ” Why would you want to drop first most of the time? It certainly is not a given.

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Quote from Adam: “I really like how in topic about not taking game too seriously @Chronocide thinks he is proving we're take it too seriously when we want to have fun and aesthetically pleasing game while RAW he is supposed to be able to bring any minis he wants - in my book playing RAW and ignoring fun aspect are really close to taking game too seriously ” My stance is that my army is my business and your army is your business, and if you want to play this game, let's pl…

  • I really like how in topic about not taking game too seriously @Chronocide thinks he is proving we're take it too seriously when we want to have fun and aesthetically pleasing game while RAW he is supposed to be able to bring any minis he wants - in my book playing RAW and ignoring fun aspect are really close to taking game too seriously Then there is @Grouchy Badger who claims that I have to play people with ugly miniatures, otherwise I'm silly and not grown up. Still I play games for fun and p…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “But if the army is fully painted AND it looks good AND represents the models it's suppose to represent well enough to avoid confusion on a game mechanical level, should I really feel like I'm taking away from anything by bringing such a force? ” Bam, there you go - many people do not find it aesthetically pleasing to play against my little pony or star craft armies. My bet would be that it is significant portion of the playerbase.

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Well, star wars isn't science fiction, as we've covered that a few times. It's a fantasy. ” It is as close to fantasy as is my little pony. Sure you can claim it is fantasy but it far away from most people understanding of fantasy. If you want to play star wars army, or my little pony army or poker chip army go for it, but do not expect people to enjoy it.

  • @Pigtails actually flat terrain allows to create amazing terrain that goes on top of it, without any regard for playability. You can look at the last posts in my gallery to see how it can be done

  • It seems like this topic, as all on the same subject before, devolved into people not playing on tournaments commenting on their disconnected from reality idea on how tournament players behave versus people really invested into the game commenting on their disconnected from reality idea on how extreme casual players play and act like. It is pretty clear - even just rule volume wise that T9A is closer to elitist than casual game as it is extremely hard to pick it up on your own. That doesn't chan…

  • Quote from JimMorr: “You see? A lot of things that were considered cheating are now official rules ” Let me disagree. It was different - because if you wanted to play fair you were at disadvantage against people who didin't. Now the field is equal and since there is very little benefit that is to be reaped by cheating and it is much easier detected there are less cheaters. Also premeasuring with random charges is vastly different beast to premeasuring with fixed charges.

  • Quote from DeBelial: “Pre-measuring, and what follows it - pre-agreements, is the thing that removed most heated and awful arguments that were present in WFB in 7th and earlier editions, so this is the part I actually like. Of course, positioning just outside shooting range of an opponent is not very realistic, but IMO in this case gains are bigger than loses. ” Exactly, when I recall my 6ed games where people either rolled for fun and played nicely or had pre-measured body parts, multiple lists…

  • Quote from JimMorr: “In most tabletop games when you touch a unit you have to perform its move. You can measure distance only after you declare your target. Battlefield is covered in Fog of War and guessed are part of it... ” Well then good that T9A is not like most other games.
