Quote from Eldan: “Ah-hah, but I don't see a single Giraffe Weevil on there! That's clearly not a legal army for the Giraffe Weevil Republic. ” oh no please, not yet another Trachelophorus fanboi... (Hidden Content)

ehehe : ) sadly, me being me, i also think that people could just go out for a walk, collect dead insects, and use them as miniatures. "collecting your army" would take a completely different meaning. also, if you wonder how actual bumblebees and dragonflies and butterflies look on the battlefield, rejoyce: the T9A forum is full of weird and creative and amazing people who have already tried that out, as you can see from the quote below (careful - huge amounts of eye candy) Quote from Drychon: “…

more pointless wishlisting: i agree that having a viable miniature range is crucial. i am also confident that between now and a possible release, 3D sculpting artists will fill any niche we'll present them. still, from a one-page-only google search... etsy.com/market/insect_miniatures reapermini.com/miniatures/insect/latest shapeways.com/marketplace/miniatures/figurines?tag=insect dwarvenforge.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5479&start=10 heresyminiatures.com/shop/inde…_page=index&cPath=1_12_51 and of…

  • tnx! will you make something like a thingiverse entry to share the file? if not, we can continue in PM.

  • hi Loofah, welcome. in case your thematic preference for giants is not crucial and paint burnout prevention (and thus low model count) is your real priority, know that you can play full 4500pts games with as few as 15 models. for example, Undying Dyansties: 3 sphinxes and a dozen chariots. and i don't think many opponents would object to a terracotta sphinx being represented by a giant!

indulging in pointless wishlisting: it might be the zeitgeist, but i think i'd like to see something quite radical. with less humanity, less otherwordliness, and more nature. not the sylvan-like nature, but more like the lizard- or rat-like nature, only to a way larger degree. for example: insects. instead of going for one civilisation of one species, we could go for a many species. drawing inspiration from such a deep well would surely bring thematic, strategic and hobbistic richness.

  • ah yes, you were filtering away the ones without textures, right. if you're interested in learning texture painting, i think @Ringil was also going to give it a go. i'm sure he'll have some good advice. also, if you're looking for a model with fewer details, we could maybe ask @mrmossevig if he's interested in seeing his new fort painted! Quote from mrmossevig: “Inspired by @Frumious and stumped I couldn't find any good free fort/castle models I decided to create my own. This is the first model …

  • that's the way, mister, well done! i like the care to woodworking and joinery, it's not only pretty but also quite realistic. if you're also open to non-necessarily-printing collaborations, i'd definitely like the idea of putting it into my videogame!

i'd also be curious to know the plans for 18th - not sure that after EoS, KoE and Iron Crowns i would still feel the "need" for another human-based faction.

  • @Arturiki, speaking of free models on the internet - have you seen the work by @ErramirOrlans? apart from the textures, it's exactly what we need. the model require very little Blender work (essentially scaling, decimating, basing, exporting): the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…4184cf9560cac8632d059db5b

  • Quote from ErramirOrlans: “First model is done! and free! uploaded to thingiverse: thingiverse.com/thing:4419340/files ” wow, this is Marshal-level infantry! great job, i downloaded it and made the first make already. hope you dont mind if i use it in my videogame (properly credited, of course!). the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…4184cf9560cac8632d059db5b

Quote from Garaz Zaki: “Any plans to complete those or fully focused on this for now? ” so i finally got a bit of time to propose an update for the QuickStarter Infernal Dwarves list, and to playtest it in a live battle against @Frar. i've published video batreps on my channel, but i thought someone might prefer reading it as a good old batrep post. here we go: introduction: we play with the QuickStarter premade armies. Frar plays with ID: he has a Prophet, 12 Infernal Warriors, 20 Vassal Levies…

  • i will definitely upload a mod for QuickStarter and for FantasyBattles when the time comes, just as i did for the Arena! but i have to say i dont want to work too much on it right now. this is because i'm still waiting to finish things for my first Kickstarter (production these days is a bit more difficult than the usual). people supported me on Kickstarter and they deserve receiving their starter sets before i start working on something else : ) so if you want i can take your list of interestin…

  • Quote from Arturiki: “And then just import it to TTS, right? ” i usually find that i need some Blender postprocessing to make it fully TTS compatible, but still much less work than sculpting your own character from scratch : )

  • Quote from Arturiki: “I don't have any experience with that, so... Ey, if you teach me, I can help a bit! Let's do it. ” nice! i'm surely not the biggest expert in this field. but you can try a few 3D model repositories (like turbosquid, thingiverse and the like), and search for textured (= coloured) models. - good search keywords would be character, fantasy, and the like. then you should do some filtering. this includes: - license: if you find Creative Commons indications, go for CC0 (completel…

  • that's what i meant - apart from myself, i dont know of anyone who's collected a good package (in the sense of safe to use). mine is not ready yet, so i was suggesting we create one. i could help with that, but i'd need some support. for example, a list of textured minis in Thingiverse, with either CC0 or CC-BY license. that'd be an excellent starting place : )

  • tnx! that'd be a nice tutorial. i dont think any of the collections mentioned there would be safe to use. why dont we create one from scracth, with miniatures from thingiverse and the like?

  • apologies for crossposting, but in case you're curious: youtu.be/JfNHBZkE68U i for one would definitely be curious to read if you prefer this type of shorter and infographic-y batrep or the full live game! edit: seems like the new youtube "chapters" function doesnt work from within the forum. you'll have to open it in youtube to jump from one turn to the next. and while you're there... subscribe!
