yes! despite my low expectations, we decided to end the game after the usual 6 turns (and not after goblin annihilation) because... well, i'll let you watch the video and find out. what an adventure! thanks to those of you who watched the videos till the very end : ) youtu.be/fLMDMzmo3Kc

  • Quote from subspace: “525 eh? ” frustrating, huh? Arena gladiators are at 500pts, +/-5% (so 475-525). some factions have troubles fielding foot characters above a certain point threshold. so let this limitation inspire you! ; )

  • amazing work, @goodbyekiss! just now i've started looking for (non-GW) miniatures for a Doomlord (sadly on foot only), to be used for this contest: Arena Doomlord if you people have nice pics to share, please do so and tag me - your mini might end up being used for international online games! cheers, f

  • give us your best anti-character Doomlord build! (max 525pts) as you might know, i made a free expansion for TabletopSimulator where i take characters from T9A and let them fight against each other, in an Arena-style game. each month my Patreon supporters decide on a new faction and a new model to put into the game. this month it's WDG time, and the voters chose specifically a Doomlord. for those of you who are not familiar with this model, here's a bit of fluff, art and minis, as well as a scre…

  • thanks Sidereo for the informative answers. could you also post pictures that illustrate your recommendations (e.g. maximal loading of printing plate) and your results (e.g. perfect and messy printjobs)?

ehehehe, that moment really made me proud of Glunka's Gits! : D here we go with another vid - bottom of turn 5, you can almost feel closure in the air... youtu.be/TRhsymv34ig

  • the way i see it, there's a whole spectrum of players. on the one hand, there's people who like to pick up dice and use them. i say "i hit you on a 4+ and reroll 1s", roll them, manually discard the ones that dont hit, say "5 successful hits", and roll again to wound. most children love the algorithmic feel of the operation. some adults enjoy the "mind-clearing" automaticity of all these steps. on the other hand, there's people who mainly enjoy decision making. once i declare charge and you decl…

  • i will definitely consider this and mull this over - this is very interesting feedback. i have my own vision of the game, but i'm not making this mod for myself only, so i'm very open to include anything that would be appreciated by other players (...and that i can code!) : D i also agree more generally on the need to keep things beginner-friendly, @Dopey - actually that's why i am so invested with the QuickStarter, for example. there's several ways to make our game more accessible, and im very …

  • yes, i think what Dopey was suggesting for combat calculation goes more into the Sunblade Project direction. while still in the infancy of the VotA project, i discussed with LittleJoe the issue of dicerolling, and he had an approach à la Idum - for many of us rolling dice isnt a chore, it's actually an enjoyable way to alternate between decisionmaking and planning. as for binding, we currently use the F6 keyboard button to keep wound markers and spell tokens next to the affected units. and we ha…

  • that's indeed where i would start from as well. before planning the implementation, i have a few doubts about the design of a fast diceroller for hit, wound, armour, protections: in its simplest form, i imagine an area with numbers for how many dice to roll (let's say from 1 to 20) + an area with the required dice roll (from 2+ to 6) + an area for the result. so you press 10, then 4+, and maybe you get as result a 5. is this an acceptable way of doing damage dicing? wouldnt you only use it if yo…

  • i agree with practically everything you wrote. i'm sure you'd find the TTS experience for T9A quite pleasing - most of the timesaving mechanisms are already in place. also, if you scroll through my profile (or watch some of my videos), you'll definitely see somewhere a treeman emerging from a field, with wheat up to its "knees". on this topic: Quote from Dopey: “ While in 9th age's case I deny a virtual adaption would ever do the same as playing with your models you love... ” well, as you see in…

  • i agree with Ringil here - im going for a digital tabletop game, rather than for a videogame. in any case, good news: @Danila has been working relentlessly to give us more UD unit designs, and i'm trying to complement it with a 3D sculpt here and there. here you can see a Winged Reaper by Tabletop Miniatures Solutions, painted by one of the nicest people i met at the Lux Bash tournament: the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…4589d17fadb8dfdd0a0645f31 thanks to @Kanadian, @Cynosarge and @falanor for con…
