Fergus - - Highborn Elves (HE)

    Post

I love playing the game at 5k. It’s a great way to add a unit or try out a new combo. I have played and lost to Dwarves plenty of times. My opponent has recently fallen in love with a single block of greybeards (Hand weapon & shield) with a couple of HoldStones. He usually has three characters in the unit as well. Basically a deathstar. The rest of his list has two war machines (catapult and an organ gun), 2 units of miners, an anvil, three copters and a grudge buster. The last time we played, i…

  • Well someone open up a Pandora box. ..lol I miss quite a few things. I rather enjoyed the straight up good versus evil. As a human, I know Daemons are bad. I do not recommend keeping everyone neutral. I wouldn't mind seeing a "allies, neutral, and desperate alliance" I kinda, sorta miss the racial bonuses. Some of WHFB racial bonuses were poorly done. I don't know if T9A did it deliberately or if it worked out with the rules but Dwarven Hold v Highborn Elves neutralize each other out which bring…

  • Disclaimer: I have only read the comments from the last few pages. So i apologize if what I am about to say has already been covered. T9A has technically been around for 5 years but it has gone through all sorts of transformations. The original intent was to just fix/adjust what were some glaring issues with WHFB 8th edition. The lads spent about a year and came through with an amazing Version 1.1!!! The next two years, the focus was on a Rules Book that I feel has been perfected. These last two…

    Fergus - - Homebrew 9th Age

    Post

thetrove.net/Books/Warhammer/F…Generals%20Compendium.pdf im sure you have found a copy of the General’s Compendium by now. This is the book that I wanted to utilize with my club mates. I believe we have settled on using the Badlands campaign book (loosely). Our goal is to learn new armies by playing on UB against one another. I have been a participant of a couple GW store campaigns but never completed one before. Hopefully we can complete one and I will have a story or two to tell. Good luck wit…

  • Another cool product idea for the future (as soon as the background has been filled in) would be an anime based on the fluff. It can be a great recruiting tool for a younger generation as well as speed up the process to building depth to the new 9th Age world. Of course, I will yearn for novels to be produce as well

  • When I read what @Pellegrim has written, it reminds me of Fahrenheit 212’s old blogs and posts. He would release rumors about upcoming WIP army books. Our very own @Librarian would come into the local GW store with the latest gossip and we talk about the potential new builds. A part of me always felt that GW intentional leaked info in order to help build up the hype of an upcoming army book and its new units, special rules, magical items, etc. As far as a great PR guy to ramp up the news and pum…

  • Hey Rafa! Will you be in town December 27-29th?

  • @Warboss Tooth, @LenTheTyrant, @Librarian,

  • I’m at work at the moment, hopefully during lunch time I can conjure up a potential list to share. I know they are a bit more points but what do you think of the prospect of running skycutters instead Sea Guard Repears? They would make the list more mobile. I really like the idea of fast moving sword masters. Their WS 6 really takes advantage of the -1 to-hit bonus cause it doesn’t take as much to get to that magical -4 WS difference. I agree that a Frosty is essential to the list. Core is hard …

  • @Darock. I like this built. It is giving me a great excuse to paint my old Alith Anar model and put him on the board. My question to you is, “what do imagine the rest of the army would look like?” Would you try to do an avoidance type of army? Reavers, two maxed-out units of Grey Watchers, and perhaps some flying units?

  • Quote from Kodos der Henker: “Quote from IoRi78: “a broader appeal in what? Unfair games? Selling the last model relesed?Really, why? Why are you asking to be screwed again and again by someone who care about you only for the money you can spend? Why you want to just a customer? ” Main reason why people don't care for the rules as long as it is GW? Cause it is an easy and save investment. Spending 600€ for an Army and time painting it for a game you are not sure it is still there in a year or yo…

  • Quote from Fergus: “So does this news clip from Games Workshop mean that we won’t have to wait 8 years for all the 2nd Edition FAB’s to be completed? Will this news clip stop the T9A brass from fumbling around with their 2.1.blah points adjustment for next year’s ETC (the only tournament data we really care about)? Will T9A turn their focus on to the core of the game; 1v1 all-comers lists? Will the community finally get to see Ninth Age’s full-version of the world fluff in which this game is bas…

  • I agree with @Teowulff that the investment of special items on to Commanders is a less proficient usage of points. If memory serves me right, I believe it was one of the daemon books that introduced the idea of separate pricing of each magical item for the heralds and for the greater daemons. But I am sure the counter argument will be made that the difference in points between the prince & commanders already takes care of the issue.
