    - ID isn't meant to be a slow army, in fact, speed is a differentiator point with the other dwarf army. DH is meant to be slower on the table while having those special deployment tricks. March & Shoot is a BRB rule by the way. - If the ID guidelines wanted to say "effective shooting range", they would say "effective shooting range". Instead they point at some desired ranges depending of the weapon type and encourage moving towards the enemy. Still, I would take (fixed) slimbook Blunderbuss over…

But you are a smart guy because you say "much less relatively internally worthwhile" meaning (I guess) that the shooting in the LAB is more appealing that it should be and creates a bigger "internal choices gap". So, such lists may be "much less relatively internally worthwhile" in the LAB, but not "much less than compared to said lists in the slimbook" (and this is what some people is saying, maybe not you). These are two different things.

The feedback collection must be a mess, maybe the ACS should consider closing one of the threads. I'll answer here to everything: I think that in the other thread Tyranno has been pretty much right about playstyles (in a general way) during the last few pages. Even the lists that were posted to proof the contrary are built with Hobgoblins (which may say something about the grinding/blocky dwarfs in the slimbook) or are barely above or under 20 models on 2/3 units. This doesn't mean that it is th…

My opinion? There was a miscommunication between the relevant teams and there were misconceptions about the army that lead to underlying problems in a few places of the ID guidelines. Misconceptions that honestly, are hard to spot. But this is not a thread for this discussion, you can tag me in the general chat if curious about any part of the LAB process. Im open to talk about it as any LAB member should be (while now, I have more free time than them to do it).

People should know that, per guidelines, strong auras/synergies should only happen if using the "flaming theme" or the "masters&servants theme". This means that synergies with other units aren't really possible for Lammasu. Since Lammasu isn't tied to the flaming theme and it isn't a master/CoA, while its rider is a low ranked apprentice and probably won't be commanding except for vassals/slaves; so it probably isn't possible to use any synergy with other units. Even more, things like "aura MR" …

Yes, LAB Team thought about it, but there is some kind of non-written guideline against doing things outside of their normal sequence. This means that, as a designer, you will get bad reviews/feedback from higherups for a rule like that, probably unless it is something already existing and very iconic, like for EoS.

    - Kadim Titan had something similar to an "inbuilt Ring of Desiccation" during an early and different iteration (it still wasn't a total "vassal thing"), instead of the -1 armour rule. Current Titan version was much more welcomed by the internal reviews done. - The LAB Team toyed with the idea of the dwarves carrying some type of explosives/devices/weapons as the ID AWSR (keep in mind that things were a lot different back then). This was just one of the many ideas floating around and it never re…

I find it to be the single most disappointing change in the whole update. Caps shouldn't be background matters. While its cool if they can add some extra feeling/sense, they should be there when limitations are needed. Why then not throwing Incarnates/Chariot again in the same category than Titan? They are substantially the same. This "coherence" is not evenly spread across the army. I also very much doubt about the utility of this change promoting "more combat and less shooting". Some people co…

  • Just to give some rough guidelines: - Start from a concept and develop a mechanic from there. "ID should be arrogant", "ID should burn their enemies", etc. This way you would avoid complaints like "ID become stubborn because reasons". Your spell will get organically developed to a good end, unlike if you start from the gameplay mechanic. - Don't propose spells with non-related dual effects. Those will be vetoed by RT. For example, "-1 to wound plus flamming attacks" wasn't allowed since it does …

I won't have a discussion again about slimbook BB not actually shooting from the back ranks or what could have been done to reduce those concerns... But what you say is hardly "disallowing" anything. There was very little or not all power to veto things unless they broke guidelines. It was a decision of the LAB Team while maybe you had more feedback about it to base your opinion. A legit opinion and a legit decision, which don't make it more right or wrong. But we could.

Quote from WhammeWhamme: “And if "keep it like it is in the slimbook" had been allowed, I'd say we would've. But without ranked fire, no, just no. ” What??? Ill give you the chance to explain/correct this before I butt in further.

  • That was already on the table when making the first Hereditary and was discarded because ID actually don't summon Kadims on the battlefield and because "summoning chaff" would break a very important guideline. With all this said, if the first issue could be reviewed by BGT and is found not problematic, the summoned Kadim could work more like a Mad Git (go through units, destroyed if walking over him to avoid the chaff issue). It could be explained as the Kadim being more "ethereal" in his purest…

I didn't say that it wasn't a problem. I just said that it was its most relevant feature, which you seem to agree since you see it as so impactful, and that we hardly have a reasonable ground yet to actually define most things as a problem or not. DanT thinks that there is a reasonable ground or that not any ground could help here and its perfectly fine, just different views. I think that getting out of all the relevant charge arcs with a bus of at least 7 ranks long is easier said than done, bu…

I feel that you are distorting my words DanT. I never said that tournament data only should be used, I know well how the LAB process should work... Still, I very much doubt that there was qualitative ground of any kind to drive radical changes like this or any other that could be more easily qualified as problematic. I never intented it to be a matter of win rates, just of playtesting and if it can be tournament playtesting even better, no? This was meant to be a public playtesting phase that wo…

I don't critize the approach taken for the update DanT, as you say, that always has good and bad sides. I critize that it is not what the project used to advertise, I critize its inconsistency with the general project speech and/or I doubt about the need to rush it during "low playing times". Quote from DanT: “This is why I asked, what people have actually done with this ability in actual games that can't be done now. No-one has answered yet. ” Then I ask, if the same can be done now, Why the ex…

Quote from DanT: “Why do people want the 360 specifically? I don't think that people want exactly 360, what people want is a model that do something unique, worth and characterful. But more specifically, what people want is their army not updated based on the "forum tide". Its worse than the BLT days since at least they were supposed to be experts on "gut feeling balance". We were told that the project now did work with data just to find that it wasn't exactly true. If there was no data to run a…

  • Answers not directed at anyone in particular, just quoting for easy writing. I won't talk about points. Thanks for the update. Quote from Tyranno: “Here is a short summery of the design changes and the reasons for them: Incendiary Tokens: Changed to incentivise combat. If I understood it correctly, It seems to incentivize Alchemy and Prophet of Ashuruk more than anything else, (had to read it 3 times, seems even more complex than before, which is a weird result). @Eisenheinrich Can you confirm if the Str and AP of the Cluster Munition is reduced when taken on a Gunnery Team? Im reading the contrary on this forum, but that was the design intention and I remember asking for that when we were reviewing the wording of the LAB. So, maybe isnt clear enough?

"Mobile shooting" isn't a weakness, if something, is the contrary (as long that doesn't lead to avoidance).
