  • Giants are citizens, right? Service means citizenship

  • For me, I think the giant having infernal armour is a flavour win If it needs to go up in points as a result (and the argument that giant pricing in other books is driven by a lack of armour is a pretty sound one), I think that is more appropriate/thematic than a giant with heavy armour at a lower price point. Personally, I think the shield seems reasonable... but if it proves to be soo poor relative to the club then I'm open to bigger price gaps between the giant weapons. I think this is probab…

Quote from Bogi: “As to DanTs axioms. One of the main axioms of balance is that similar units in similar books need to be priced similarly. This is because a player should have the option of only taking that unit in a list and not be hamstringed by that choice. ” Interestingly, this axiom does not need to be fundamental. And having it causes other problems. I was surprised by this too. I will drop you a PM because it is complicated and not worth de-railing the thread here. Quote from vvalor: “It…

Quote from Drakkanor: “All true. Anyway if only Sentinels are successfully played in a army that is supposed to have in its archers a point of strenght, we should agree something went wrong. ” If only sentinels are meaningfully played, then of course you are right. And by the project's own definitions then this means core archers are wrongly priced. But my hunch would be that the archer usage in the data is not so bad... anyone done any substantial list/usage collection? (I.e. combined many tour…

  • Quote from MountainBuns: “@matrim I’m not really here to discuss the validity of my feelings on the subject. I feel combining model entries without sufficient replacements is pushing into my hobby space for the models I already own. Perhaps others have models that are in a certain unit size and also feel their hobby space is being impacted. These I consider part of the T9A spoiled rules for de. Regardless of the projects definitions, this is the way I feel and is the fundamental reason why I wor…

Hmm... I've been tagged in a pricing discussion... my favourite... The important thing to note I guess is that if all SE players put archers as overpriced in the internal balance surveys, then that will increase the chance that they get a (relative/internal) points reduction in future Before anyone over-interprets this remark, I do not (and cannot) promise anything. I am just pointing out that this is the main way the project requests and gathers community feedback on prices, and the data type a…

  • To be clear, I'm not advocating for any model invalidation The book should absolutely have a 100x150 big thing that can shoot. The bound daemons in the slim book kinda require the LAB to contain such a unit. I just think having such a unit as a sub-unit to the infernal engine, therefore requiring the infernal engine to not be 0-1, is causing problems that will be bad for ID players.

  • Quote from Tsagadai: “It is a big deal for some armies but for plenty of others it is a bit of a laugh. It can be 450pts that could easily be better spent elsewhere and even with res 7 they aren't invincible if your opponent actually knows how to play (hint, shoot at them with bows, poisoned doubly so). I have been using them as support units, I don't just sit them on the flank and expect miracles. My problem with two Engines is somewhat more macro, you are investing 900 points in things that ha…

Quote from Vesemirus: “They should listen to ACS and top players (ETC players) and they do not - example - last year patch. ” *shrug* I think you would sometimes be surprised at the breadth of opinions amongst ETC players... most of the EE are ETC players for example. In fact, I think all of current RT are ETC players? Besides, I think if the project did everything that every ACS and ETC player told it to for every army... it would be a big mess, and I am not sure people would like it more than …

Quote from Vamp87: “It was my understanding that the army tiering was only partly based on data. I also think they included both popularity and win rate data not just win rate data. Not that any of these things is innately a problem (although I personally think popularity data is biased more by social factors than balance factors), but I think it should be clear that tiering is not just based on win rate. ” *shrug* Out of interest, have you heard this off the project, or is it a forum "comment-t…

Building on some of Palmu's comments... it is also the case that before the last update, VC was above average (tier 2/5). If it is below average now (according to the aggregated data) as a result of those price adjustments, it should of course receive more discounts and fewer increases than last time (speaking relatively compared to the other books in the context of each update). Indeed, that is project policy according to the news posts from the update last year, so if the external balance data…

  • As I've said above, I think these numbers kinda don't matter, at least for the purposes of whether a group should try the game. Those numbers are good and interesting to look at, sure. But I think the idea that these numbers allow one to forecast the state in 5-10 years time is largely nonsense. And t9a is less interested in chasing players than a commercial company. It wants to attract players and make players happy of course, and is trying to do that, but it isn't going to suddenly become (say…

  • Yeah, I think they are at their best used in a co-ordinated mutually supporting fashion with other units. Rather than as pillboxes, war machines or flank guards. Same as EoS tank. Used in this way I think 2 are pretty good (and also somewhat RPS; res 7+unbreakable is a big deal for some armies). The bigger issue for me is that I think while two are allowed, it will drive the pricing somewhat, making one a generally poor choice internally. Note that the price is higher in the LAB for a debatably …

  • Quote from Joel Elijah: “Quote from DanT: “@Joel Elijah There are complete books for every army. I.e. the game is already "complete" and all factions are playable. It is just that the books will be updated one by one. In the same way that in many legacy systems periodically update factions. I don't think anyone can offer you any proof that t9a will or won't sink in some timeframe. I'm not even sure it matters much really. My suggestion would be try some games with the current ruleset. If you guy…

I didn't reply to you because of how I understood what you had asked for (statistical data rather than anecdotes). Perhaps I misunderstood what you wanted? This would be my quick summary of e.g. what is available product-wise: - T9a is now on much more sta…

  • Quote from Exalted Champion: “I played with obsidian rock and aether icon. Throwing just some spells on him won't be to easy. Maybe you crash your whole magic phase with it. Additionally i went with dispel scroll, which can clear a crucial spell at the right time. Usually the opponent has a maximum of 1,maybe 2 rounds before dragon arrives CC. My dragonlord died of course in 4 of 5 games. But he either scored his points or the rest of the army did, while opponent was busy with the dragon. I also…
