At the start of any round of combat, a model carrying the Holdstone may declare that he is using it. Once he does, he and his unit treats flanks and rear as front for the purposes of Parry, Shieldwall and Supporting attacks (to their flanks/rear). Note that they can still be disrupted. While the Holdstone is active, the bearer must always issue and accept challenges. The unit cannot pursue any enemies in the same combat the Holdstone was used. Once the combat is over or the bearer slain, the beneficial effects of the Holdstone immediately end.

Dwarven Hold armies have a number of grudges computed as following:
- One Grudge for each Dwarf King in the army.
- Additional D3 Grudges for each Dwarf King mounted on the Throne of War.
- One Additional Grudge when facing opponents who field units from the army books Orcs and Goblins or The Vermin Swarm.
For Grudge army may choose one enemy model or unit after the Deployment Phase.All models in your army have Hatred against the chosen enemy. If they already had Hatred, they may also re-roll failed to wound rolls against the enemy in the first round of any combat. If unit is chosen then all models that join that unit become object of Hatred as long as they remain the part of that unit. If single model is the object of Hatred and he joins the unit, the unit does not become the object of hatred. No enemy unit may be targeted more than once by this rule.
When rolling casting or dispel rolls with a single Magic Dice,a result of 1 or 2 on the Magic Dice is always a failed casting or dispel attempt, regardless of any modifiers.
A model with this rule can make can make dispel attempts as if it were a level 1 wizard, including Aided Dispel. An anvil comes with 3 Battle Runes and casts them with Power Level (5)

Dwarven Holds armies cannot pick from the pool of common magic items and instead create their own using a combination of Dwarven Relics and Dwarven Runes. The resulting objects, called Runic Items, follow all the normal rules for magic items (i.e. Runic Weapon is Magic Weapon, Runic Armor is Magic Armor, Runic Talisman is Magic Talisman and Runic Arcane Item is Arcane Item). Each rune combination forms a unique magic item which cannot be duplicated.
Dwarfs can use Magical Standards from Common Magic Items list, as well as Runic Standards. A Battle Standard Bearer can take a Runic Standard as part of its Runic Item allowance.
Rune crafted upgrades effect War Machines based on their profile, the list of effects is as follows
Dwarf Ballista: All hits caused by the War Machine have +1 to hit against Flying units and Magical Attacks.
Field Artillery: All hits caused by the War Machine have +1 Strength (up to a maximum of 10). Dwarf Catapult gains Armor Piercing (1).
Tunnel Artillery: [Organ Gun only] All hits caused by the War Machine have +1 to wound and Magical Attacks.
