    • Grail Quest Jan 19 - 20

      First let me say that I apologize for the wait. I have been told that the pack was coming out but since they have been trying to sync up masters with grail quest they wanted to make sure all the packs were lined up blah, blah, blah, blah.

      Well screw that here are the rules for Grail Quest. Don't ask about Master's because I don't know about it. A link to the full players pack can be found here.

      For those of you who thinking clicking the blue link is too much work, here is a text break down of the pack.

      Grail Quest

      Oh brave knights who quest for the grail, we welcome you on your quest.

      Welcome to the 9th Age tournament, where players will be scored several aspects of their hobby, including how well they play the game, how well they paint, how well they sport ..er...ok that came out wrong, but anyway…

      Grail Quest will be held in Gamer’s Heaven in Phoenixville, P.A. on the weekend of January 19 - 20.

      Grail Quest Schedule

      Round Timings
      As you have probably noted above, there is a strict timetable we need to adhere to. This will ensure that the event will run smoothly and people are able to leave in a timely fashion. In addition, to this, The 9th Age is a game of six equal turns. Failure to complete all six turns can result in the frustration of your opponent, advantages that would not normally have been gained and a general sense of annoyance about the game. While we are aware that most players do finish their games on time occasionally this does not happen.
      To this end, Grail Quest has four provisions regarding the round timings and game length;
      1. Announcements will be made throughout the round indicating the amount of time remaining, and at 15 minutes to go. At this stage, we would strongly suggest that you complete your game, ensuring that equal turns have been played and to then submit your results. If you fail to hand in the results slip on time, you will be given a warning. If you fail to hand in the results slip a second time, your score (for both players) will be reduced to zero.

      1. If a referee asks you to stop playing, and this request is refused, then both players will have their score for that round being reduced to zero. In addition, at the absolute discretion of the organizers a further point’s penalty may apply to your tournament score.

      1. If a referee feels that a player is deliberately playing slowly despite warnings then they may be liable for a point’s penalty.
      Open Lists
      All lists for the weekend will be open. The lists will be checked for legality by the organizers prior to the event and released as a PDF.
      Army Submission
      All army lists should be submitted to usmasterst9a@gmail.com on or before 12 am on Friday the 4th of January. A player submitting a legal army list, before the deadline and legal on the first attempt will score 10 tournament points. If for any reason the list is changed the player loses bonus points.
      Army lists should be placed in the main body of the email with all space formatting removed. Please ensure that they are submitted as per the following format (no army builder or Battlescribe):

      Sportsmanship Score
      The ability to make a game enjoyable for your opponent, win or lose, is a key component of the hobby. It is also critical to the success of a tournament. To recognize this, sportsmanship will factor into the Best Overall and Best Sportsmanship awards and will be one of the tie-breakers for other awards.
      After each game, each player will award their opponent 1 or 2 Sportsmanship Points based on their experience and how it applies to the suggested (but certainly not comprehensive) guidelines below.
      Obviously, your opponents list design or the fact you won or lost should not factor into your sportsmanship score.

      Score Guidelines
      1 - Your opponent’s attitude and/or gaming etiquette was consistently poor. They did numerous things during your game that were not in line with the rules or spirit of the game. At the judges’ discretion, you may be asked to explain giving this score.
      2 - Normal opponent who gave you a good game, engaged with you personally, and practiced typical gaming etiquette.
      At the end of the tournament, you will also choose your favorite opponent who will receive 2 points, you will also pick your second favorite who will receive 1 point.
      Players turning in the Favorite opponent sheet will receive 3 Sportsmanship point

      We come, we come with horn and drum: ta-runa runa runa rom!
      To Isengard! Though Isengard be ringed and barred with doors of stone;
      Though Isengard be strong and hard, as cold as stone and bare as bone.
      We go, we go, we go to war, to hew the stone and break the door;
      For bole and bough are burning now, the furnace roars - we go to war!
      To land of gloom with tramp of doom, with roll of drum, we come, we come;
      To Isengard with doom we come!
      With doom we come, with doom we come!"
