They look like a good start! I like it, when people interpret miniatures in non-standard ways.

I slightly converted GW's Eel Riders into Kestrel-Knights for my SeaGuard home-brew. (the book uses some SE armies) In that sense, I really appreciate your effort!

me too, but kestrels are a pain in the a$$... there are no models that fit the other GW models I have. I have the old metall models, but I don't really like them, because I only have 3 and the riders are smaller than the other models...
Another way would be to buy the Lord of the Rings Eagles, but these are huge and not fun to play, as their wings would poke every other unit

Not really sold on them having different kinds of wings. IMO they should be all the same species, therefore, all same wings. Apart from that, I really love your take on them. Eager for more like this!

In serious tournament, such as ETC I would called a judge and would ask him to forbid attack and stomps from "kestrels" mounts, because actually here is no mounts.

This game not only for sport, but modelling also has the meaning. Please don't do this cheap and quickie conversions, respect your play mates, who spend many time for build their army.

Too many ways to resolve problem with models. If you cannot made by yourself, use some alternative, for example from Raging Heroes- ragingheroes.com/products/stingrays-tr-ve-sf

Mounts from Vanguard-Palladors games-workshop.com/en-EU/Storm…s-Vanguard-Palladors-2017 also can fit if you would added some wings.


For example, I have done my conversions for kestrels from GW Skycutters kit.

I can't agree this is a 'cheap and quickie' conversion, and don't get why anyone would have problems with people playing the game with whatever minis they want, as long as it is clearly differentiable from the rest of the army and has the right base.

You can justify in way too many ways the stomps and the 'mount' attacks of these guys from a narrative point of view.

One of the good points of T9A is that it is not closed to a set of miniatures, and players are free to adapt their view of each army. And IMO these 'cool birdmen' could be perfectly used using the rules for kestrel knights

In my very personal opinion, if anyone refuses to play against your kestrels, the shame is on them. You have clearly made great efforts to make your unit feel consistent with the rest of your army, and should be (allowed to be) proud of it!

You know, different people like different models, have different vision or ideas for modeling you just mentioned and calling it cheap, quickie and asking for judge after all is just your opinion. Rude one.

Of course I personally don't call a judge and say it only to make a resonance of people reading this topic. BTW, I already saw such conversions of kestrels on ETC, only from GW Khinerai Lifetakers kit. Models looking great, but without mounts no feelings that this is cavalry.

Now to stop offtopic I really like your conversions and they look the part! I have done similar thing to make vampire spawns as I hate original models and you are doing great job so far.
