The city-state of Asylheim is a fortified town and its surrounding lands in the wild frontier country to the southeast of Sonnstahl. Asylheim's founder came from Sonnstahl but the settlement contains men, elves, and dwarves from all across Vetia.

    I love this whole thing.

Awesome work! I really like the half-armor that some of them wear. I love the use of the ermine heraldry symbol on the flag. It makes me think of the flag of Britanny. Where did you get the models BTW?

These are Perry-miniatures "European Mercenaries: 1450-1500." The box comes with 40 men for 20 British Pounds, or around $25 and you can build up to 12 as crossbowmen, 12 handgunners, and up to 18 pikemen with some command figures. I've bought 3 boxes of them and made 10 crossbowmen, 10 handgunners, and 20 pikemen (including command figures) from each box.

Thanks a lot! They're really lovely. They're really a steal too! Again, I'm a big fan of your banner too!

Thank you! The banner is actually the flag of Cologne. I'm going with a Holy Roman Empire theme so the HRE flag is my Battle Standard and I'll be using flags of the various German states for unit flags. I have the flag of Burgundy for my other, partially painted pike/spear unit. I wouldn't have used it except that my wife really likes it and wanted me to. Then I found out recently that half of the Burgundian lands were absorbed into the HRE after the Swabian War in 1499 so I guess it works out. Or I can consider that unit to be mercenaries.

Yes it does work! The Habsburg of Austria and Spain used the Burgundian cross on occasion in the 16th and 17th century.

"Asylheim" is a german word for asylum/refugee accommodations feels kind of strange to use this as name for toysoldiers.
Edit: Reading your description this might be inteded, but as a german I would say this term does not realy nail it. I'd suggest something like "Fremdenstadt".

I intended for Asylheim to mean "Sanctuary-Home."

I see. I would suggest something like Frei-stadt/heim/burg (actuall City in Germany) which would be "free-town". Or Schutz-stadt/heim/burg which would be more like "protection/shelter-town". Asyl is not a "native" german word, it has it's origins in latin and ancient greek.

If they've got pikes, they are awesome. And these are awesome. Good work.
