The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.

  • Quote from Damo: “Back in 8th, the daemon prince was a problem between me and a friend. I felt it was broken (unbreakable, 1+, 4+, t6), he like his model and wanted to use it. I cant think of a single list that is equivalent- that if i saw in a tournament pack i would feel it was power gaming. If it was against a new player that’s different of course. ” you should have used unit of white lions with banner of 'screw you right back' with frosty support. Or a light council. Then you and your friend…

  • WAAC is more of an attitude thing than the actual list. (there are RPS lists out there but you should know if your list is one and if so what it is miserable against) WAAC player can ruin a game from the start even before any dices are rolled.

Still trying to get my head around this army; What are the ways to maximise on death trance? I can only see banner, altar combo. (You can add morecs reaping to this but bit meh weapon for a fighter) On the monster discussion I think this rule (trance) should extend to all monsters and potentially beastmaster providing an area effect of secondary trance to make monster mash really effective in cc.

Quote from theunwantedbeing: “ A further curiosity Since the Ring nullifies items for the duration of being in base contact, presumably this means it can be used every round to nullify a different item while continuing to nullify the previous ones. ” @Eisenheinrich I was referring to the above comment but you've clarified it either case

Hold there for a minute, Are you saying that if the bearer of the ring remains alive and b2b to the same models ring's deactivation accumulates??? 1st round turn off weapon enchantment, 2nd round turn off armour enchantment, so no weapon and armour 3rd round turn off arcane item, so no weapon no armour no arcane item And if the ring b2b to let's say 2+ charecters it can turn off 1 item from each in consecutive turns and effects will be cumulative??? @theunwantedbeing @fjugin Also FYI @Masamune88

In this case the banner is carried by the unit. Unit standard bearers have to be in the front rank. But they don't work like champions in other words you cannot allocate attacks to standard bearer. As it is said someone else in the unit will pick it up. Therfore as long as the ring remains b2b with unit it should be able to switch off the totem. Other wise people will argue with the exact position of the models. (not everyone has command groups or play wysiwyg - thank god for that)

I'll go with ring deactivates totem and therefore re-activates the item totem initially deactivated. So you play as neither item exists until next round.

Assuming @Squirrelloid will post the official answer no real point in discussing the rules.

How does "you're coming with me" work? I'd guess the intended mechanic is same.

  • I misinterpreted the chosen rule, as using max and set terms in the same rule is weird. But that was not the reason I said the banner was under costed. Additional attacks are big deal and when you get a whole rank of quality attacks (yes warriors are quality attacks) and consider the potential magical support (evocation rerolls) the banner unlock great potential. (we're told project always costs for best possible combination in a vacuum) so the banner is undercosted.

  • Quote from IoRi78: “Quote from matrim: “The banner that gives additional attacks in 2nd rank {50pts is like auto include on chosen} ” it does nothing on chosen, they already do 3 Attacks from the second rank. it works only on warriors/warriors knights ” Oh doesn't the chosen profile say "max number of supporting attacks set to 3"? I don't read it as the unit does 3 supporting attacks all the time. If it is like that OK, but could be written better (I.e.does 3 supporting attacks. This can not be …

  • The banner that gives additional attacks in 2nd rank {50pts is like auto include on chosen} All Favours especially on charecters. Through favours, gifts and 150 (or 200) allowance alows for really hard combos. They have very little opportunity cost, so kitting out a charecter doesn't really affect your list (therfore undercosted). Dogs Barbarians Lots of special rules doesn't feel to be costed in the units, unlike elves. (my perception is that elves pay metric tons for secondary stats aka elf st…

  • Pretty much two word definition: "under costed". On a positive note: I am making a WotDG army first time ever. I always hated the army but the new book is interesting.

  • Navigator's is a trap don't fall for it. If you must spend money on LG magic banner, +1 move, 15" March, even WBoR are better options. In other words stuff that makes m5 infantry brick move better. From memory both WBoR and navigator's were developed to test future potential special rules, ie awsr or unit specific. First turn distracting vs charge bonus (ala DH or Orcs) @Masamune88 can correct me on this one tho.

  • how dare you take away our 1000page target!!

  • Do DH grudges apply to the opponent characters after they left the unit they were with at step 7 of deployment? So the unit with character was grudged at the beginning of the game, then the character leaves the unit. Would it still be subject to army wide hatred?

  • Eliteness should be a combination of stats and special rules. And I'd suggest with the limited amount of stats, some of which are dictated by the army (i.e. Ld, move, res, St, hp), special rules should play an important part in determining Eliteness. But what does it even mean?? A non-elite ogre, minataur can kill pretty much any elf hero on foot if we're talking just naked models. So may be Eliteness is related to the gear you can pick. Or is it what matters the most; res, hp, St, att values...…

  • By the virtue of admitting elf on foot charecters aren't meant to be anything worthwhile you also placed last nail on HWoF. So the question is why do we even have these on foot only honours at all??? Keep vanilla in foot and spend complexity budget for mounted honours. From AD reference I take monstrous mounts are hbe forte then spend the dough on dragon, griffon and even phoenix mounts.

  • OK fine. Is there a criteria elf charecters are tier 1? Now I'd like to clarify that ld10 don't count as ld strength is available for armies that has low ld value. And also are warrior or VC charecters in the bottom tier for anything.
