  • Quote from Omarcomin: “Continuously impressed by how little this project understands its audience. ” If I take one thing from this thread, it's that our audience is incredibly mixed. I've not done a tally, but the decision to freeze was a marmite one. I know you're in the 'not freeze' camp, but I don't really understand your comment beyond this...?

  • I dunno @Pellegrim - I'm reluctant to read too much into sparse data. Take the recent UK Masters for example - 3 SA players, including the winner on VP, and no DL (for example). Does that mean SA are OP? Sample size of 16, which includes 2 long-term lizard players, I don't buy it, but there were folk worrying about just that. If the data is insufficient to draw conclusions from, then the scenario you describe I would interpret as I do my Masters example, but writ large. Now, with the rules freez…

  • @arwaker, @nicreap - is this substantiated yet, or is it not yet significant? Curious, I haven't been following recent developments. Quote from Pellegrim: “Top 5 races hauling in over 60% of podiums, with OK, BH and WotDG topping the list, in 20+ p tournaments since 1.2. According the some the data samples to small, but then again: we can read the books and understand "whats up". So tiers def. excist; and people don't like it. ”

  • Quote from Eldan: “I don't care about broken. I play games far more broken than this. Or 8th edition. But content keeps being cut with no replacement and it's just not fun anymore. ” I might be wrong, but my expectation is that the WDG and DL books when released will reverse this trend (such as it might be) and blow my mind

  • The game isn't that broken is it? I mean, really truly? We're seeing all armies being selected for tournies, and a good spread of races in top 25% and podiuming, or we have been throughout various iterations of T9A (I think the data isn't yet in for 1.3, but I've no reason to believe that this trend of improved balance will reverse here). Most units are viable and there are relatively few 'must take' models. It's certainly not perfect (I'm a HBE player - we want foot combat characters fixed, inc…

  • @nicreap - I don't know why you quoted my post there? I get your point - 1.1 was a culmination of many smaller changes, 1.2 was a big change from 1.1, and 1.3 was a series of small (mostly buffs) changes to fix some of the immidiate stuff, and you and others feel a 1.4 is needed to continue that process. Noted, understood. But 1.2 had to happen, so 1.1 freeze wasn't an option, and 1.3 was in improvement on that so we got some fine tuning. Should there be a 1.4? It's been decided not. There will …

  • Quote from Vazalaar: “The very long rule freeze especially no real armybooks to get excited about will cause the player base to decline. ” It's a sad state of affairs if we assume that gamers only get excited about rules updates and not about playing the game, no? For one, I'm not overly fussed which version of the game I play at any particular time, so long as I'm playing T9A, which I consider to be the best game of its type currently available.

  • Quote from Eternal Flitter: “Team Pigmar is sorting out last minute choices. However, organizers permitting, we lay down the gauntlet to team Chester in round one. Come at me @ferny! ” 8ffd8b1e292d97550b50da36ed9c1068261ac8dcdf3fb7445755f7418401d30f.jpg

@Page - there are 16 players at the Masters and 16 armies to choose from. For an army to be not represented would require every competitor to have independently selected a unique army which no other competitor has selected. As both Mikey and Jack have VC and Jake and Colin both have lizards, that means there must be a couple of armies unrepresented, and ID are amongst those. From such tiny sample sizes you really can't extrapolate anything. What will be more interesting is how each of these armi…
