Core rules are the issue imho. Even if your wizard has a +9999 dispel bonus, dispelling with a single dice means there is a 33,33% chance of automatically failing the attempt, with lost focus as prize for being a derp. As consequence players avoid wizards, risk-free bound spells become predominant, and threads like this one suddenly appear.

  • Quote from Adam: “Quote from Astadriel: “Also the fact that it could physically just not work (metal balloons of this size) just makes me sigh. You'd need negative mass to make these stuff fly or very very thick atmospheres (which would make any inhabitant crawl on the floor) ... But I guess magics is at play once again ... ” Exactly, if they made any effort to make them plausible - cloth baloon, wooden ship etc. Right now it looks like someone just didn't want to texture anything so they made …

  • Quote from Smythen: “They are actually kind of cool, very steampunkish. ” I like them too. Tolkienesque dwarfs began to smell like an expired can of mussels quite a few years ago.

@Drakkar du Chaos may I ask why did you quit? I've seen your post on the meme thread... Not long ago you were very optimistic.

Quote from Lagerlof: “Is it really? "A whole different game"? tongue.png I still see a board filled with fantasy creatures and humans having a go at each other with ranged attacks, magic support and then closing the deal with a giant sword to the face. The big difference is that now you don't need a "3rd party" comp system to play on even grounds, you don't have to wait 10 years for your army to get updated, you don't have to wait for a FAQ to solve a wierd situation, and when the FAQ/Errata fin…

Quote from Drakkar du Chaos: “Well... don't forget that WDG is supposed to have the playstyle of "smelly cavemen" on the table, it's certainly not going to turn into a army with more shooting/magic/ synergy /movement... so move forward & close combat with your OP units, forget laser list or flying circus ” That's 3 phases out of 4. My god...

Quote from Drakkar du Chaos: “You won't get a precise answer but regarding WDG it's definitely "less than now". ” That's like the worst answer you could give to me. Ok, maybe "we are turning WDG into smelly cavemen" would be worse, but it's close enough.

What level of complexity is considered acceptable? Because I loved being able to mix chaos gifts in 8th edition. It granted a degree of diversity and character customization only surpassed by dwarven runes, but that was the first thing T9A took away from me for the sake of streamlining and simplicity. Then chaos lores were removed, for the same reasons I presume, and I fear chaos marks will be the next thing to dissappear. Maybe not, but the possibility is certainly there.

"Dutch mafia" might offend some people... stay polite, mate. T9A devs have a clear vision of the game they want to make: a fast competitive wargame optimized fot ETC. I think we all get that, but the problem is double: ETC players are a microscopical percentaje of the former WHFB playerbase, which like it or not, is what gave birth to the project and still sustains it. The second issue is that ETC guys are not game developers, they just place limits, constraints and boundaries upon existing warg…

I don't think making fun of your own community is a very intelligent thing to do. As crazy as it sounds, some people is starting to miss the old silent Games Workshop. Plain indifference is better than being constantly reminded how wrong, whiny and childish you are.

  • The overhaul was indeed rushed. Chosen of Change is intended to buff thaumaturgy casters who join a unit of chosen/once-chosen of change, but sorcerers don't have access to thaumaturgy, and daemon princes, the only WDG casters with access to it, cannot join units...

  • What happened to the magic phase is the consequence of seeking balance through cuts and nerfs alone. At some point all options become equally underwhelming and players just take the safest and easiest one, or whichever consumes less of their time (no mages in this particular case). We know you ETC guys are specialists at comping, but maybe it is time to stop deleting and nerfing, and start adding and buffing. My two cents.
