Quote from Baranovich: “In my mind there are two kinds of rules lawyers, as Nemeroth said above. 1. One is the CONstructive kind, the guy who actually looks out for and pays attention to the spirit of the rules. 2. The other kind is the DEstructive kind. This guy is good at exploiting the mechanics of the game, and is laser-focused on finding the loopholes in the game that are to his advantage. This guy could care less about the spirit of the rules, but he's obsessed with the letter of the rules…

Quote from Mittierim: “I am just speaking from my personal point of view, as simply a person wanting to play the game in the context of a Narrative Campaign with a group of folks that all have different levels of engagement with the forums. Its just most effective for us to have the pertinent information in the texts. ” It used to be my perspective. Then something happened and here I am, not only having reading access to most of the background, along with the fascinating discussions having led t…

Hmmm, depends. If you're a RGP Donjon Master, you would need much more fluff than what is officially released. I would imagine a specific channel for them. If you're an author, intending to qrite a novel in T9A setting, same. If you're an Historian in Medieval Lores, you ight wish to start in forums before someone hires you in the team. Etc. The basic construction will be given to everyone, in the Background Compendium, in complement to everything already delivered in the Full Rulebook... from i…

Quote from Mittierim: “By having all the info we get come through untrustworthy narrators,(even the facts of history at this point) it really makes any discussion about the background kind of problematic, since it can all be dismissed as "yeah, but that's not really how it is, its just "blanks" opinion of them."I understand that it is done to help each player form the narrative that they wish to, but it is another one of those stylistic choices that I personally am not very fond of. ” It is alwa…

It is not morally neutral. As I understand it, each faction in its own internal perception is fundamentally morally "good" for most of it. Nobody says "We are evil and we like it! Muhahaha! Come to the Dark Side! We have cookies!" Each faction perceives parts, but usually not all, of each other factions as bad. But nobody perceives any other faction to be evil to the point of needing to be genocided (well, maybe there is an exception for demons and undead, and vice versa). What a relief! So glad…

  • Hi, Badyuyu, and welcome to The Ninth Age. Your concerns are very similar to those of the Rules Team, who upgrades the rules as we speak. So far, T9A has already moved to a direction you would probably like compared to WH 8th. The good news for you is that the next edition, V2.0, will most likely increase the role of tactical finesse and reduce randomness. Magic already has lost a lot of its excesses. The other issues you mention are all examined, but I have no information on what it will become…

  • Quote from Teowulff: “The thing is of course that if we want to have a T9A kickstarter, it would be great if we knew beforehand that GW isn't going to sue anyone over copyright infringements or something. If they indeed consider it mainly as a means to increase their miniature sales, so much the better. A win-win for all parties involved. I still think that a kickstarter would be the best way to spread the T9A word. It will create quite a lot of noise and "free" promotion. ” The first edition of…

  • Quote from Shlagrabak: “Now, external companies and individuals might do that. We're working on this, but we know we will want to streamline a few things with 2.0, so we're not yet encouraging massive professional printing, given that the book as it is will have a lifetime of maybe 6 months. After all, if there's one thing we learned in this project is that things are rarely perfect on the first attempt. But given the amount of preparation, if you're interested in doing a kickstarter on this, yo…

  • Nice second post, Gothmog (and no, I am not following all newcomers). Quote from Gothmog: “My question is this: Given that most people here seem to agree that GW was killing WFB by a thousand cuts for years before they finally finished it off with a spectacular Gotterdammerung, shouldn't T9A be making more efforts to move away from the GW policies that were bad for the game but good (or at least meant to be) for their bottom line? ” It may not be as clear cut (pun intended) as you say. Contrary …

Guys, don't you wish to see WYSIWYG discussion in its own thread?

  • @Eternal Flitter you might be interested in reading the above.

  • Thanks for the many replies - and the humor they contain. I would like to nominate @Eternal Flitter who is the author of the OP text and the associated news. I only posted them myself because I could, and anyway such news would be more believable coming from a red tag. Now is the time to publicly give back credit where it is due.

  • Following the announcement here: T9A project settling soon, this is the poll to decide on where to locate the first T9A premises. The final location will depend on the outcome of this open poll tempered slightly by where staff who may want to make use of it are currently located themselves. Please see the news for a more detailed explanation of what this is about, but please vote in this poll and voice your opinion down below on any aspect of this momentous decision that will certainly shape the…

  • Quote from Inquisitor Zorn: “I want to base my miniatures and have a question about how shure it is, that the foot print of the units stays the same? Example: Skirmish units now have a 12 millimeter distance between the models. If i base them now, will this stay so in 2.0? And will 5 models broad stay the same or will there be big changes to get ranks? My point is, that there should be more informations for the community how the game will change in the future to discuss possible problems early. …

  • Some positive and negative comments. Thanks for the positive comments, and let's see what can be made useful from the not so positive ones. Quote from Neaj: “did you need a two page technical document to state that you will share only what the ExB deems appropriate after meticulous scrutiny ? ” Apparently you did not perceive clearly some very important parts of the document. Thanks for letting me know, it gives me a reason to elaborate. First thing: the spirit. "Improve information provided" - …

  • Thanks for all the comments. Some require a reply. Quote from Cortrillion: “red names, yellow names and green names, often contradictory, commonly posting personal opinions and suggestions. ” Well, we all are humans, we all are part of T9A community, and we all have personal opinions, and they are not all the same. The fact to have a tag only shows a responsibility in a limited part of the project, which usually has nothing to do with the question. The official position is what is provided on ne…
