  • Quote from JimMorr: “If special rule in the unit entry worked as link to special rule listed in the end of each army book or even better as tool-tip then the usability would be much better. ” Hmmm. So a added back pages for the online versions of the document. Not a bad idea. @Eru @fjugin could something like that be accommodated for ease of use on electronic devices?

  • @JimMorr The Strength characteristic already doesn't represent the strength of the model but its ability to inflict damage on their target. The same was in WHFB since at least 4th ed onwards. Which explains why a Dwarf or Elf could have had the same vale as an Ogre.

Quote from Shlagrabak: “I think there is something against distributing our products in a modified version, because that can engage our legal responsibility (unlike distributing content that you have created yourself). I'm not very knowledgeable in law so trust the Legal Team over me of course. I'm assuming that you have images that you have the right to distribute, otherwise I'm sure this particular project can't be done. ” That is correct the licence allows either distribution of our documents…

Please don't forget the second question was a multiple answer option.

  • PR and DA are working on producing a presentation of the results. There had been some internal miscommunication which relegated the work on the survey data lower on the priority list than it should have been.

First I would like to apologise for my posts today, they have been to brusque and due to everything currently going on in hindsight I should not have posted in my state. I'll come back to this later when I have sufficient time to properly explain why certain choices have been taken and why what we have done makes sense to us who did the work. In the mean time please carry on with the original intention of the topic and I will read it carefully before posting. I would just like everyone to take i…

Quote from WhammeWhamme: “when we suggest changing the rules to match the background ” But the rules match the background as seen by the people writing the background otherwise it would not have been published. What I feel is problematic in accepting the validity of the existing background-mechanics coorelation is that we use a very broad understanding of philosophies behind each Path so they are capable accomodating what was put in place mechanical before the philosophy was selected. Quote from…

I'll be brief as putting this as simply as possibly hopefully will clear things up. - Background is not written for the game. We write the setting and the game takes place in it. Things I agree can look disjointed at this level of percentage of published material. - Background is written to ensure we build our own identity but with a familiar theme. That does not mean theme has to be identical only familiar. - Creating background is much more sensitive than creating rules therefore all of the ba…

Quote from lawgnome: “"In fact, occultists try to remain hidden not just to avoid the judging eyes of society, but because their "Art", as they call it, thrives behind closed doors and wilts under public gaze" ” There is a difference between how it is usually practiced and how it is employed in battle. For example a practitioner of "Atmospheromancy" would be quite different depending if he is fighting in battle or enjoying a civilian life. In one case he could gently influence the world around h…

The starting premise is wrong. Quote from Squirrelloid: “T9A's magic path redesign in 1.2 started off with a good idea. Design philosophies of magic and then make spells which represent those philosophies. Tie paths to races by aligning magic philosophies with the character of the race in question. ” First the mechanical theme of each path was designed and the general nature of spells, on top of which a broad philosophy was over layered to provide final focus for fine tuning the spells. Changes …

The current 40k situation and what happened to WHFB is at the core of the debate "what is better for a wargame - a setting or a story". I am personally in the setting camp for official material. Stories can be told by players themselves.

Quote from Bugman: “What about points? I haven't seen any points yet! ” Try boltr and chainsword. I am follpwijg there and most is revealed. There are some odd things but feels very 3rd ed in size. A 1500 pts 3rd ed army would be roughly 2000 pts in 8th and that is also the new standard. Playing 8th at 1500 will feel very 2nd ed in size.
