With the books spoiled and having given the books a read the past two days I must say the game looks really good. Not all pieces are asthetically pleasing and there are enough oddities left that makes me think WHY?! But overall it's certainly a good attempt at creating a much improved game. First things, the oddities: - Primaris Marines can't be transported in anything, not Drop Pods, not Land Raiders not Stormthingies nothing. - World Eaters can thake World Eater Sorcerers But other than those …

  • Therre is always a market for RPGs. I just feel that the ones who prefer miniatures usually are also the cats who feel less inclined to RPG because they don't have to imagne the characters completely, they just convert a mini to act like they want to. In any case, more RPGs are good, adds narrative, adds creative content for the future. A T9A RPG would be very cool to add depth to all the places in the T9A world.

Quote from lostminstrel: “Quote from Bugman: “And the new space marines look too big againest the normal ones and other 40k models ” I think that was the idea. It seems people were wanting "true scale" marines for a long time. They delivered. They are going to make lots of money from 8th. Still think they are idiots? ” If those "true scale" marines recieve "true scale" vechicles and 'true scale" Terminator suits I'm okay with it. As is they outsize all the previous content perhaps a little bit to…

  • Yeah this is very cool, the best thing of all is that GW continiously shows that it is opening it's doors more and more. I think we'll see the era of a Warhammer film, be it Age of Sigmar or 40K, digital or not

New edition of 40K is looking better with the minute. To me all kinds of games have their pros and cons. One of the biggest advantages for Open play remains to teach players the game (starting from having 0 models). As the Ninth Age to me is largely build up for veterans of the game, this too is a fantastic game, for veterans of the WFB game :). In the end it's all a matter of liking a specific type of play.

  • Its Cashgrab Castle, you cant hate on it, its made of hate, skulls and secret ingredient X.

  • Quote from Morgan_Treeman: “Quote from JDAntoine: “- GW is known for being bad at giving Magic good rules ” I think you mean they are bad at making rules period...The only good games (in my opinion) they made were mordheim, blood bowl and maybe lord of the rings (before the hobbit). not sure about necromunda. ” Oh yeah, selling games still isn't their prime objective. I do think that Mordheim, Blood Bowl, Lord of the Rings and Necromunda where are good games and some editions of Warhammer Fantas…

  • The true thing is that lore can steer you into the most logical direction and poor as the AoS lore is on some parts the lore and army composition is correct and makes sence. WFB used to have this fleshed out decently in 4th and 5th aswell. To date I don't think it's a bad idea to have Heroes open certain slots to certain Core units while Core units open slots to Special and Rare. What you can create by going this way is compliment a theme in a domino effect, something AoS has done aswell. With t…

  • @Worm I totally agree, your list is very much like my own, some other points have been removed from it, those being: - A total lack of Magical Items - A total lack of Point Costs The General's Handbook (1) and 'new Army books' do now include those two so all I really see is that AoS is in the same phase as WFB 1'st edition was in. It initially was designed to be fun (onlu), but at the expense of it being very difficult to play in communities that wern't all made up of friends or people you knew …

  • Well... Blades of Khorne is essentially what Khorne was back in 1st and 2nd edition. Cool art, cool mono-theme, poop lore but I'll pick up this booklet nontheless. war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/bloggings/1850 Even those Khorne cards (not Magix!) are back in the game. *But also limited and allready sold out

  • Quote from Morgan_Treeman: “the cav models have an oval base size of 75x42 so that's an increase of 78% if you rotate it. The big one is 120x92 so only an increase of 30% but you're gaining 28mm distance for rotating it. ” Correct, however still assuming you are talking about AoS it helps diving into the rules and understanding as to why it doesn't matter if you rotate it for movement, as mentioned, no part of the model can move further as it's movement say. What you cannot do (unlike T9A chario…

  • Quote from Emperor_Zoron: “Blizzard, of course, has never officially confirmed this. Though, supposedly, some ex employees have said/implied it was true. Gamesworkshop has apparently refused to give any comment on the theory. ” Blizzard indeed didn't admit, though the creative mind behind World of Warcraft didn't make it too much of a secret. It's certainly inspired by World of Warcraft, likewise Starcraft is inspired by the factions that where then available to 40K. Which is one of the reasons …

Quote from JimMorr: “I am afraid we will observe great infantilization of 40k fluff. Stage seems prepared for that. ” Not unlikely, though I dont believe GW has any reason to mutilate 40k like that

  • Quote from Cood: “Regarding Warmahordes it isn`t true. There are many solos and units that use magic weapons in various forms, in fact there was much less magic in Warhammer world and WFB where only heroes, lords, and high elf champs had access to magic items. I think common items are very useful from design standpoint, because most factions could use generic +1 strength weapon regardless if it is called 'sword of might' or 'mork`s wooden stick with nail'. I like the idea of pricing in ABs, beca…

  • It could be cool to have such depth added to units, on the other hand it also prolongs their activity which in turn prolongs the game. I believe that combat resultion in general is quite abstract the way it is but it does help the game process certain activities in a reasonably quick manner. If you wanted to add a flavour of realism I think that most units would combat longer as they do now. The thing is that this would lead to a bigger importance of your first target and in essence the battle w…

  • Quote from DJWoodelf: “There is a difference of pointy and area effects. I think if I had to choose I would prefer to be hit in the arm by a bullet than to be hit by an axe I would NOT choose the axe. A bullet might be superior in piercing armour but does it more easy wound or even better asked kill somebody compared to big close combat weapons. a throwing spear should also be more deadly than an arrow IF it hits. If you are naked it doesnt really matter which weapon hits you IF the right area i…
