  • Genuine question. One fix being looked at is capping ap component. What if it became a hand weapon only enchant. Still allows shield, but loses ap bonus and initiative bonus. I assume it would be op on a faster delivery mechanism though? Could that be fixed by points? I'm not really suggesting this cos I know spear is iconic, but it's a victim of the base rules success here combined with elf stats imo.

  • I think it's a reasonable thing to do, especially with LR. It's definitely a move @PapaG would describe as trolling. It's probably not optimal use of points in most lists, and it does need some sort of protection due to I0, but I like the idea.

  • 2.0...we're all finding our feet, no-one knows the rules, but it'll be hilarious, what we're all playing and it's how we'll learn. For me bigger question will be when we lock it in terms of little updates which may creep out :). But in any case, I think its stated earlier that we'll be using the most current ruleset at the point of the cut off.

  • I must have dooped on my maths somewhere... My current list is quite defensive - warden spear lord, moct bsb (defense spells), 15 becalming archers, 10 naked archers, 5 reavers bows, 20 distracting spears, 24 distracting lions, 21 razor flame wardens, 1 eagle, 3 bolters. Sea guard would fit a list like this like a glove...but I've tried to squeeze them in and come back to wanting my current set up more just cos of...points!

  • I used it for the first time at a mini-tournament on Saturday. Over-all liked it a lot, no bugs. Nice way of keeping track of veil tokens! One (hopefully simple) feature I'd like to request would be that it displays which of the 8 options is being given, not just the relevant info on the particular card rolled, so that we know if we're playing in an 8 phase or a 6 phase etc, and therefore can better judge what is still to come (without having to know how the magic and tokens match up to the card…

  • I agree that he's unspectacular, and also very defensive, and I can see issues with getting him where you need him to be with aggressive lists (also means you're kinda forced to kit him for combat). That said, you should most rounds be able to push through at least one spell which is a wound back on the big d, and ideally 4++ for the swords or hereditary for the dragon /swords. I've used him solo 3 games and found him to be fine in my defensive list, but I'm going to add a pyro mage for flaming …

    I personally think that now grey wardens have been differentiated, with the full re work these ladies ought to be worked over as a pair with the sea guard, to make sure they don't step on each others toes. I've had so many ideas for tweaks to swap guard but the risk I find always is strayongbintonsister territory....

    Well, they still have it but the rule has changed... They can see around units but not over them, which is a bit more limiting. Also they have to be wider which makes them more vulnerable and spears less viable,nit that spears were a popular choice.

    I'm seeing a lot of them in lists now, even though with the loss of volley fire they're technically worse. Also not necessarily at max size or with a qc. Sometimes in preference to grey watchers... What am I missing, what's changed that they're more popular now? (I'm also seeing more sloops, and I'm sure that's not due to the 5ppm increase on bolters).

  • @Aegon - 1+/4++ was the build I immediately saw, but I think the 2+ re-roll failed to wounds vs magical attacks is actually the better one (courtesy of demon helm). 2+/4++ should be tanky enough, even on T3, and re-rolling on what you rightly highlight is the 'weakest' stat on the spear (5) covers this weakness nicely, especially with so many attacks. Both builds work I think depending on your priorities, but I rate the 2+ one better
