  • @Cortrillion @Herminard @anyone else who knows the history of TVI... Help out an ignorant marshall: What (if anything) disqualifies the above list from being TVI? (I was never a big forum-goer back in the day, if anyone has links I can use to research I would be interested to see.)

  • Quote from izakko: “@DanT: what do you think would be the impact of an across the board reduction of AP by 1, i.e. The default then becomes S4 AP0, S5 AP1 etc. ” I doubt anyone would manage to successfully predict the consequences in their entirety, ripples in a pond and all that... I can tell you some things that would definitely happen though: BLT would have to reprice every entry in the game. I leave it to your imagination how many hours work that is for them 2.0 would be far harder to learn,…

  • @Cortrillion Sorry, I misread your original comment. Was busy doing something else and didn't double check like I normally do. I thought you were saying rockets were better always The to hit role should probably be averaged over different situations, but it isn't obvious there is a best way to do this. To answer your question (and using a range of 18.1-36" as per your post), rockets are better (ignoring their cheaper price, different variance and misfire differences) vs: - war machines - any res…

  • 1+ save characters, particularly with resilience 5 and/or re-roll saves. Resilience 7 and higher. Also, damage per point is perhaps not always the right metric. Sometimes eliteness/absolute power (vs power per point) is more important. At this point cannons are better vs resilience 6 monsters, regardless of save and fly.

  • Quote from Mahlzeit: “Quote from DanT: “HW/S warriors and warrior knights gain a single grind attack? (Just spitballing; I could do with an official "no project hat" emoji ) ” that would be pretty cool and not interfere with other people’s armies too much - handing out initiative mali like candy already screws everyone over against Ogres, and we already have it with the tribal spear of giants.Straight up damage might just be the solution. ” My idea has the obvious downside of almost being strict…

  • A couple of thoughts/questions, because I think so much of this discussion repeatedly comes back to super-skink pistol militia and flagellant hand grenades and playstyles. Pistol militia and flagellant hand grenades Who started EoS because of these two units? Who thinks that these two units are representative (fluff or mechanically) of how EoS armies should fight? For me, the answer to both of these is no. Playstyles The top 4 playstyles according to the poll were: 1. Mixed arms/jack of all trad…

  • @Adaephon_Delat Ask the Poles... I'm sure I've said something about this before, but I think the new magic item system plus the plate armour give him some interesting options. Plus the ability to take both crown of autocracy and the the locket is not insignificant. @Nicreap No worries, I'm afraid I don't have a more specific answer for you, sorry One more guess/feeling: new scenarios probably suit them more than before.

  • Quote from Nicreap: “@DanT @Herminard I'm curious, you both ranked UD as top tier (I think, maybe it was just herminard) is that due to one specific build or playstyle (such as how corkyDK runs it?), or a general feel for the entire book as a whole, and the tools it has available ” I have them in tier 2, but I hedged by saying that the error bar for most armies is plus or minus 1 tier For me it is the overall book rather than any specific builds, but it is also more general things like being one…

  • Regarding internal balance, I think it is significantly improved. It may be that EoS wasn't boosted enough compared to other armies, in which case the project will take steps to resolve this, but that is not a question of internal balance. However, focussing entirely on internal balance and (for precision) asking the question "which units have been added to or removed from the list in my head of units that I feel have a place in at least 1 competitive list" then my opinion is the following Added…

  • Quote from The Kremlin: “So what unit was in my army at the weekend then? :-s ” Camels. On magic carpets.

  • Quote from LostCause: “Quote from Konrad von Richtmark: “I just checked the updated 0.201.1 Empire army book. Light Infantry are still Agility 1. I heard somewhere that was a typo. Is it, or is it intentional? ” This is definitely a typo. I'll raise it again so we can get it fixed for the hotfix. ” Already delivered to the team internally

  • Quote from Style: “@DanT sorry but I thought you made you opinion clear with this comment. Trimming the fat. You basically dropped WDG specific items to trim points but kept the BRB items. I drew the conclusion brb > WDG items. Sorry if this was wrong. So do you think all the items in our book are worthy of making a competitive list? Even half of them? I don’t mean to come across as rude I’m actually asking your opinion as a competitive player. ” Haha, its fine, it was meant to be a humorous com…

  • 120 participants I think? So 7.5 EoS would be average. Things that made me happy: (1) Light infantry prevalent (2) 4 different generals: knight commander, marshal, prelate, altar (yes I know that is technically 3 but the altar is a significantly different choice) (3) Many new items in use (4) Rumours of the tanks demise greatly exaggerated There are reasons for concern too, and maybe none of these lists will win any games, but I am feeling positive today

  • Quote from Style: “the problem is that only 3 out of the 12 different items from the WDG book were taken. Don’t you agree it’s a problem if 3/4 of the new items are seen as not worth taking by competitive players in a competitive Masters tournament? Also see DanT 2nd place UK masters List where he used 0 WDG magic items despite having 3 geared characters and units with banners. Surely you see the problem here? ” I would ask that you get my opinion before using me in an argument Several of the Wo…

  • I haven't really thought it through, but maybe 2x(abiding spirit and brand of the dragon) will ruin some armies? And the breath weapon is one spell that benefits from being in 2 places because of the low casting value of the short range version. (So you can't cast both, but you always have a cheap one in the place you want). I'm just spitballing though, I'm tempted to try it now, but my plan for the year was a different army in each event as much as possible...

  • Because the other parts of the manifestation might be the important part? I'm not claiming any expertise here, I would just love to hear from the guys who have taken two. I think I could be convinced to take 2 before taking 1 in fact.

  • I would love to hear from the guys running 2 of them as to their strategy and plans for them and how often they double on the same manifestations.

  • Quote from Discoqing: “1 small event (half filled with people not in the top 16 players)... Hmm.. ” Hahahahahahahaha you make me laugh Adam. Of the invited top 15 plus previous master, 2 had to pull out. So places 16 and 17 got invited. I would not describe that as "half filled with people not in the top 16 players"... More seriously, I would like to echo some of your fellow posters' concerns regarding your tone and some of the things you say. I am all for criticism, and I have been working inte…
