  • Quote from funkyfellow: “Scoring Blade Dancers filled an important role for many armies but also inflated the cost a great deal and put quite the target on the unit. The annoying part about it's removal is we didn't gain scoring somewhere else in the army, reducing our already limited options to score with. ” I don't think scoring necessarily needed to be added elsewhere in the army, in fact there are very few places it could be added (giving it to a different unit with Light Troops was not real…

  • 1 in 12 players using HBE is slight over-representation, but only slightly, and fits HBE generally being a fairly popular army. Certainly not enough to cause concern, in fact i'd be concerned if it was lower for HBE.

  • Even with DS 5, only OS2 units and OS6 would be effected by -1OS.

  • @AlexCat I came here to discuss HBE, like I regularly do, since I play HBE (and DE) from time to time, especially when SE are only possible to play as a shooty avoidance army (like we are dangerously close to now). I also don't put HBE in a bad light, power level or otherwise, and have repeatedly defended the power level of HBE. However, I wasn't going to ignore a comment which I believe to be factually incorrect, especially when my main army (SE) are the main example demonstrating that the comm…

  • Quote from Bogi: “@Hachiman Taro what people are saying is that since black stag leaves your lord being T3 with 4+ if mounted there is no reason to really take it. You could wear a shield for a 3+ and use a lance, which is better really and with black stag you get up to S7 ap3 re roll to wound and divine which is nice and better then the blades anyway, and it's fun, not sure it's good. The best is probably just death cheater armour and be done with it for 2+4++, stag and try to pretend you are w…

  • Quote from AlexCat: “Making this thread a SE whinefest is not healthy for this discussion. I may sound rude but Im really tired of SE players intervening HbE discussions with incorrect remarks about their army weakness and HbE OPness. ” Please check any of my comments in this thread, the SE forum thread about HBE, or anywhere else I have commented on the state of 2.0 HBE, and you will find I have consistently defended HBE 2.0 and stated that HBE should be used as a model for how every army shoul…

  • Quote from Adam: “@CariadocThorne heath riders with bows and kestrels are in Fleet of foot right? So I guess you can fit more than just unseen arrows. ” Even with those, 100 bows would be difficult to fit. Not even sure it's possible off the top of my head, and if so, that's 80% of the army's points right there. That SHOULD be able to take down an AD. Quote from AlexCat: “Quote: “SE in 2.0 would be a great example of an army with no realistic way to kill an AD, even after the drop in R. ” Please…

  • Quote from Gerfaks: “I see no problem that you need to rely on 6+ if you have 100 bowshoots) One game with SE my AD was killed just by core archers. And there is no ripping) AD just can't break steadfast and kill many models (he just hasn't 9-10 attacks). So you have to spend a lot of points and effords to support him. ” I'm curious as to how many SE armies you see running 100+ archers. Especially since even only using core Sylvan Archers, you can't fit 100 in the Unseen Arrows category of a 4500…

  • Quote from Vetril: “Could the elven cloak count as a shield in CC, thus giving +1 Armor and the option for Parry? I can tell from experience that a cape does stop swords and I've been told it was used in the same way when hunting beasts (I don't know if this is true). Would be nice to have the Forest Guard with Parry. ” I believe that the intention is for the cloak not to function as armour anymore in the full redesign, and to reduce our armour saves in general. That is why my favourite suggesti…

  • @Darksaga Why is 5+ better than 6+ 6++? The 5+ is only very marginally better vs AP0 (12/36 vs 11/36), equal against App and better vs everything else. How much AP0 do you really see in a game? Everyone saying we need 1+4++ etc, it's not going to happen. We have a strength in avoiding hits, lets find ways to use that instead. On another note, the Whirlwind Spirit. When we designed this, there was less overlap with the Hero's Heart, and it had the potential to combine with PoS and Curse of the bl…

  • Ok, why are our characters bad duellists? Damage output can be pretty good, but not enough to reliably kill more durable (ie non elven) characters in one turn, and we are so fragile, we can't survive return attacks, so it's kill in one turn or not at all. Significantly buffing damage is going to be tough. Our potential blender combo with 9A S8 AP4 triggered the discussion leading to the change to PoS. So people are really concerned about anything having much higher Damage Output. Same with HBE s…

  • Quote from zqn365: “Each society thinks themselves the good Guys true, but in the scheme of all the armies and the 9a world, the dread elves are more twisted/selfish/conquerors and the highborn more lawfull/protectors , where the Sylvans are both selfish and protectors of their forests or the natural order, which ever you like(Note that they all are capable of "evil" deeds in the name of their cause). Maybe this is a cliche that needs to go, i dont know, maybe thats the old style. ” Actually, in…

  • Quote from zqn365: “-"Secondly, I have an idea for our AWSR. I want it to give us cold-blooded on March and rally tests, and allow units to make a swift reform at both the beginning and end of an advance move (provided no model moves further than their Advance Rate). Could also word it something like "may move as light troops while making an advance move"." That idea is great and id like that very much! But isnt it just martial discipline light and by being that we wont get it for being to simil…

  • Quote from Calidoscope: “Do Briar Maidens and Sylvan Sentinels have poison shooting? ” yes

  • As I understand it, T9A HBE fluff will retain the idea of a far flung naval empire. Therefore, the logical space for an auxiliary list with new units would be non-standard units local to the furthest reaches of the empire.

  • Quote from Wesser: “I didn't say that, but I do say 3 x 8 Bladedancers (no options) is being well.. overused and an incentive for bigger units would be a good thing. ” And in 1.3 they were overused in 2-3 units of 12-14. 3x8 is an improvement, and now they are actually used to fight, not dodge around and grab an objective. So even though it was a change we didn't really like making, I think we were right to make it. That we didn't manage to improve other scoring as much as we wanted is a separat…

  • Quote from Wesser: “Thank God. Otherwise Potion of Strength would be even worse. With LR it's at least mildly amusing ” Sorry, you can use Forest Walker with it, but not LR

  • Quote from Bobo: “@CariadocThorne I am disappoint. So many good potential names and riffs for that character. Kung Pow Chicken? KFC Extra Spicy? The Bird Is The Word? "The Pecker"? ” I was planning on "King C0ck" myself...

  • Quote from Alexwellace: “That's what we need, an auxiliary list focusing on Tree Spirits, providing a few new units and oppertunities that make pure Spirits more viable than the Sylvan Elf book version. This doesn't take away anything in the current book, all it does is provide new options for Tree Spirit only armies. It could include some new units like a Sprite Swarm, Hounds of the Hunt, unmounted Forest Dragons/Faeri Dragons, Weapon options for Treekin, Elite Scouting Skirmish Fear-causing Dr…

  • Quote from LetargicHunter: “And how world frenzy with random movement units? For example with Steam tank, at what distance has to check Discipline -2 for not charging? ” As I understand it, it wouldn't have to test, because units with random movement can't declare charges.
