  • We are pretty much Huzzah all the time now. I have to say I am getting a bit irritated at the 9th Age lately, so my groups schedule looks like this 1st Wed - WW2/WW1 (Tanks, boats, planes, whatever) 2nd Wed - 9th 3rd Wed - Pulp (Skirmish game... think Indiana Jones) 4th Wed - 9th (Probably warbands) 5th Wed - 9th/whatever (was suggested as boardgames and may turn into that)

Quote from bubafett: “Quote from eggsPR: “@bubafett I think people floated Pittsburgh as it's a middle-ground between two regions - everybody has to travel at least a little a bit to get there. ” as I said imo Pittsburgh is fine. Just would need someone to host it (ie have terrain ahs find venue etc) ” Pittsburgh would be great I think if we work together all we would need in the area is someone to coordinate with the venue. We could arrange for our clubs to bring terrain. Quote from TheEvilOne:…

Todd, Quote from Poxous: “I agree putting my thoughts on paper as to when PC voting should happen is needed ” ?? Wrong game.... When we talked about it before the event we all missed the problems with swiss pairings on a small scale. I kept thinking in terms of 32 players instead of 8 teams. So what are you thinking for "Best Team"? Points, total sports, Bonus for team shirts and/or team banner As for award, I think a small banner would be nice... something we (CGL A team) could bring back and h…

Quote from bubafett: “and also not to hijack this thread either but on the topic that EVERYONE LOVES these events and want more of them, I wish the community could maybe come together and work on getting one that's fairly central located amongst at least MW and MA to therefore have one maybe bring in 18+ teams. S1N in Ohio brings 10 teams every year for past 4 years and several of those are usually from Cleveland and Columbus areas so shouldn't be a problem for them to travel a bit. What do you …

Quote from Poxous: “I heard this as an idea this morning. You score tournament points in the game. So capturing an objective might be 2pts. Maybe 2 more for holding it. 1 point for each unit you kill. So in the end you get the points you earned. I might get 14 points and my opponent might get 7. You could do a winner gets +3 tournament points and loser gets -2. So now you have to play the game. I think 20-0 works for team stuff. I don't like it for individual stuff. ” This is fine for tough figh…

Quote from Poxous: “I don't think there is a perfect answer. IMHO no +3/-3 if you can't do 6 turns is a legit thing. ” I do not agree with you here Todd. I see a problem here with a "competitive" player seeing that he cannot win the objective slows down so no one gets it.

When playing a small field of under 16 player/teams the final round can see some odd situations (On round 5 I think the top team had to drop all the way down to the 4th or 5th place team as they had played the rest). Because of that my choice would be to cap every round.

Quote from Blonde Beer: “Quote from GenePhelps: “ ” Dont really think so. My own solution was to increase points won on scenarios (and have several of them both players can compete for) so if a slow player wants to shoot for 2 turns and then wrap up the game he atleast wont get a lot of points for it. Keep in mind my meta is pretty casual and I rarely see slow play on purpose as TO. I had one player who always played only 2 turns but after a talk he switched to an easier army and now atleast get…

Quote from Brad C: “Quote from Poxous: “I appreciate the feedback as always. I'd like to throw this out there though: Awards...I like getting them and giving them out. The 9the Age seems to not care about Hobby which breaks my heart. I spent $200+ on three painting awards that max got half the room to vote on. If the people don't care I'd rather find other things to award (BEST TEAM?) or that money can buy us lunch on both days. ” I missed out on at least one of the paint judging awards. Not on …

Quote from Blonde Beer: “The problem I could see with something like this is that if I am playing my toughest game, Round 6 on table 1, and I've finished all my other games on time, I get zero problems from slowplaying my opponent if I don't like the matchup ” You are correct, but there is nothing in place to prevent that currently either. Would the answer to that situation be to allow a judge/TO call to issue multiple warnings to a single player during a game?

What do you think of the following proposal: Assuming a 5 Game tourney with 2:45-3 hour games For each game you do not complete the full 6 turns bothplayers receive a warning At the end of the tournament you receive a penalty based onthe number of warnings you received during the tourney. 1 Warning = 0pt Penalty 2 Warning = 1pt Penalty 3 Warning = 2pt Penalty 4 Warning = 4pt Penalty 5 Warning = 8pt Penalty Looking at this from the perspective of a normal/fast player,if you have a single warning …

Great tournament Todd, I love the team style event, it adds variety to the normal tourneys. Big thanks to Kelby, not only great seeing him again but he was always circulating around the tables with reminders and offers to help. Terrain was even better than last year (you had the time to grow trees) Filling out the favorite opponent was tough with so many great guys to play. Some of the smack talk was brutal but great fun. I will be back next year with as many as I can convince to come down. Cong…

  • The Masters idea gets bounced around every now and then, and I for one would love to see it make a return. My biggest question is what are we looking for, a true Masters event of top players or a just a tournament that we call the masters? If we are just looking for a tournament to call the Masters, then we should just tag the largest tourney (if they are willing) from the prior year as this years “Masters” for example, “Buckeye Battles (2018 US Masters)”. The downside to this (if you want to ca…
