  • I really like that idea. It supports a big unit that is dangerous to charge, yet is still combat capable since you don't have to run the unit super wide to make use of it like you do other shooting unita. Two blocks of 25 with bbs and gws would make for a really good looking core. Or two blocks of 24, each holding a character.

That way you don’t have to worry about magic ranges, because your actual wizard will be up fighting where he belongs. ” Taking an engineer without at least an apprentice is a waste. Dont think its worth to take an engineer however only boost an mage cost half the engineer (upgrade plus horn) ” It depends on the goal, really. Yes, you can take the …

I'd personally like it if the BLT was involved in the design process, rather than the last step. I feel that price is an important part of design, and having that separate from everything else is like telling your engineers "design the engine and the wheels for our new car. We'll tell you what the body looks like after you are done with that."

Just remember everyone: Those were @Fnarrrs views on the subject. Whether or not the prices are more or less expensive than they should be, or how they compare to other armies, are not really in the scope of the matter. The main question should be "did @Fnarrr feel that the units were worth the price paid." If yes, then the price is (theoretically) fine. If not, then it is something to look into. Please don't attack him if he doesn't share your opinion. These kind of reports are how we really fi…

  • I really like the idea of doing an "always can stand and shoot" special rule. Having the whole army be nothing but Texans is really amusing, and I'd love it. However, I'm afraid it would lend itself to gunlines. You would never charge because you get more of an advantage if they come to you.

Honestly, I just appreciate hearing about how these things worked in practice. It is nice to hear actual play reports on how these units worked out. Thank you for doing this

How did you feel the individual units did? Was there anything that you felt was worth its points? Was there anything that you felt was not worth the points? If you were to make adjustments based solely on your experience to any of the units, what would they be?

By this point, we've all gone over the various negatives to the hotfix. However, it was pointed out to me that there are quite a few people that are happy with it, and that it is possible to miss out on all of the positive things when you are focused on just a few parts of the forum. So, I thought it might be fun for everyone to post aspects of the hotfix that they like. This would give everyone a chance to get a broader view of everything going on throughout the game without having to dig throu…

Quote from Nicreap: “But the general idea seems to be that after the massive success of Total War:Warhammer they think it's a good idea to bring it back. ” Meh, I'm not going to pick it up if they do. I have no faith in them making a good game, and I'm not going to get gouged $150 just to find out if it is any good or not. Even though there are some parts of T9A that are currently bugging me, I'm sticking with it until such a point as there is no one left playing it.

Speaking for myself as an American player, I am not asking for a stable version of the game. Take all the time you need, iterate on ideas, make the game fun. I couldn’t care less if there was an update every month, or even every week. My issue is “why must the toys be taken away for there to be balance?” This really goes back to the great deoptioning of v1.2 for me. I want more choices when building my army. Let me customize my lamassu, let me choose the totems on each saurus unit, let me choose…

Quote from EBD: “Quote from rolan: “why is it always One of the extremes? Not nerfing everything IS NOT THE SAME as power creep. To want interesting rules and units DOES NOT MEAN half the units would be overpowered. We are 4 or 5 tiers lower powerwise than 8th edition was. To keep the Level of 1.3 would not be powercreep, Actually to KEEP any powerlevel is not powercreep as keeping something is different from raising it, but it is also different from lowering it. ” In principle nerfing strong un…

Quote from Konrad von Richtmark: “I think people are seriously losing perspective here. One army out of 16 was hotfixed in a controversial, question-raising and rage-inducing way, and people are declaring the project fundamentally and irredeemably flawed. One hotfix was made very soon after a MAJOR rules update based on initial impressions, and people are declaring that the entire project ignores data and runs entirely on whim and gut feeling. Seriously people, what the heck? ” It's not just the…

Could there also be a problem of people having differing definitions of what “OP” means? I see a lot of people saying things like what @EBD just said (I can’t quote from my ipad, so I’ll just paraphrase): “Balance is important. It is no fun playing against OP stuff, and I’d rather everything get nerfed as part of a “better safe than sorry approach” than having a broken book ruin the game for 2 years while we gather the data on whether it actually is OP.” For some people, OP means any unit, item,…

@draeth187 @My_Kin I am working on a theory, and I am hoping you two could help me out. Where are you guys from? Did everyone in your region play comp during 8th Ed WHFB, or was it limited just to hard core tournament players? You don’t need to be specific, just general region will suffice. I’ve noticed in a couple of threads that the people who are most happy with the “nerf everything to ensure balance” mentality seem to come from areas where literally EVERYONE played some sort of comp system r…

Devastating charge (stubborn) That's more BF and it's a really nice rule. ” Only trouble with this rule is that it is a rule that requires you to lose to be useful. I don't think people want to set up charges so that they will lose less. When you charge, you want to win

  • Quote from WhammeWhamme: “That said, our AWSR doesn't need to reflect Ashuruk specifically so much as the general character of ID. ” It doesn't need to, but it is certainly nice to have that info in case we can do something flavorful with it. • Hey, quick question: Lore-wise, what is Ashuruk the god of? Lugar is lawyers (and my favorite), and is associated with Kadims due to the binding of fire spirits. Shamut is bulls and is associated with taurukh and the bull mounts. Nezibkesh is the god of... war machines? Engineers? The forge? Not getting stomped? Something along those lines. Ashuruk is Might be helpful to come up with flavorful Chosen of Ashuruk rules if we know what kind of stuff he does. @Scottish Knight @WhammeWhamme
