  • I have seen a skeleton cav death star with 2x pharoah, BSB and hierophant in 1.3. I have seen nothing even remotely useful from sea guard. => In my opinion, sea guard is MUCH worse.

Quote from DanT: “My (unprovable) opinion is thus: 2.0 is better for stories than 1.3. I would be interested to hear how widely or not this opinion is held by others. ” Well, the great downfall began with 1.2. So you should ask: Is 2.0 better than 1.1? And here I dare say not really. The game simply got more boring with less options overall :/. And since complaints seem to keep coming from all sides: Is the strict ASAW approach with the current application (3 play stystyles, hard weaknesses etc)…

  • Quote from pk-ng: “Quote from littlecow: “Question: Can both following actions be done at vanguard step by goblin unit joined by goblin hero with "Crown of the cavern King" ? 1. Goblin hero joins another unit 2. Goblins, where hero initially was, make normal vanguard. ” No as the unit immediately loses vanguard. ” Are you sure? People have used this move several times against me.

  • In .3, a unit consisting oy of characters ould move as if the unit had light troops: The first characr leaves the unit and moves away. The second character then leaves the unit and joins the character that left first. And so on. I didn't find anything saying this is no longer possible. So I assume this can still done? Follow up question: Assuming the above is legal, what about a unit consisting of characters and a single non-caracter model? Is this legal move if for such a unit as well? And sinc…

  • @Furion: Wild Huntsmen don't have vanguard - so your opponent's move was actually illegal. Plus blade dancers do not have skirmisher. Also, how could your reavers vanguard behind his unit? I think you have to keep at least 6" distance from your opponent's unit when you make your vanguard move? It should be impossible to get behind enemy units like this with only a 12" move and at least 6" distance? Could you elaborate, please?

  • @AlexCat: That's precisely what I wanted to say. I also have never seen an official statement of "yes, this was a mistake" before. And this might be one of the root causes of the "ivory tower" perception. @Fnarrr seems to be the exception on this end.

  • Quote from Fnarrr: “Lets for the moment entertain the possibility that BT made a mistake. It happens a lot you know, even at 99% accuracy that's 1-2 major derps per armybook. ” Quote from Fnarrr: “You explain yourself again. Maybe you admit 1-2 things may be wrong, but looked like the right decision at the time. ” You are the first one that I see admitting there were mistakes in the entire project (at least regarding game design decisions). I commend you for that because I feel this is also a ma…

  • Quote from Aegon: “To be fair: I looked at our Sea Guard from version 1.2.0 (25. October 2016) and through almost 1,5 years, the price was always the same: 24 pts. If you would have looked at various tournaments and the HBE forum itself, you could have known that this unit was very unpopular through all this time. Now, after 1,5 years of waiting we finally saw a price drop. And it was 1 freaking point. So I think you can understand that "give the BT some breathing room" is a funny statement with…

  • Quote from Adam: “Favor of Meladys: Unit gains 6+ Aegis and +1 to Aegis (so in essence 5+ Aegis or boost it by 1)? ” Well, SE already got a much better version of that ;). Plus FW or e.g. Griffons with Regeneration don't benefit from it at all. What about something else: "Range 18, Type: Augment. Place 2 shield tokens near the target unit. These tokens last until the start of your next Magic phase. Shield tokens can be used to protect the unit; whenever a model in the unit would lose a HP, you c…

You can find a link to the old full army book in the first post, which contains fluff for the units in the Old World. (See older versions spoiler.) There is no fluff for T9A yet - I don't now enough about the world... But I intend to change the old fluff to make it fit to the T9A fluff evetually. @Renaming: I wonder... How do others feel about renaming the army? I'm actually quite fond of the connection to Japan .

  • Quote from pk-ng: “Why did the High Warden of the Flame lose divine attacks? ” It was considered to be too powerful. It was about to see a huge price increase. Instead, it lost Divine Attacks. The combination with the SotBD was insane before. I'd have preferred a nerf to the spear and not to the honour as it was practically useless in 1.3. Now, the spear prince still obliterates anything without a ward save...

Quote from Dracolus: “The 2 reasons I chose the daimyo as general was the option of buffing my unit and being a combat powerhouse. I could fill the roles of the taisho and kensei into 1 model with the advantage of saving some points and having multiple magic weapons on a single model with higher allowance but with the drawback of having fewer wounds. ” Would you still use a daimyo if it didn't buff the unit? Do you feel the model is too powerful? Quote from Dracolus: “Maybe the buff can be used …

I was attending a tournament yesterday, so I didn't really have the time to answer here, sorry. @Kenjutsu: It's actually intended to be a force multiplier. But I realise what you are saing. However, I'm somewhat torn here :/. A limit depending on the number of the total number of initial attacks isn't universally applicable: If it is 1:1 (i.e. from 10 initial attacks you can get at most 10 bonus attacks), the limit has no effect at all. And if the limit is half (i.e. from 10 initial attacks you …

  • Is it correct that a lone character on foot doesn't have light troops anymore? I.e. a lone character cannot march & shoot anymore and isn't subborn inside a forst?

  • I was working yesterdday and didn't have time to catch up on the hotfix when I got home. Today, there are 80+ responses alone in this thread - not to mention several other threads... Quote from Althanen: “We need to prove that the RT and BLT have been wrong, althought It should'nt be very difficult. ” Good luck with that. I mean it, but I really cannot imagine it. Maybe, just maybe, the discontent of the large HE community might have some impact on how things are done... But I will only believe …

  • Quote from Celegil: “It refers to the feeling that wishes of the communty are not being listened to by the people making the decisions. ” I have had this feeling since 0.9X. But I'm still around here. Although I've given up posting rules ideas for books that are not currently redesigned. Quote from Emgies: “If there is no communication you get speculation that: ” The topic regarding the feedback loop (i.e. not only getting feedback from the community but also stating why certain changes are made…

  • Quote from RollTheDice: “I'm as gutted as everyone else about the expected nerfs, but I think pointing at the magic phase as the(a) issue is a distraction. ” The talk about magic has nothing to do with the upcoming hotfix. It's an entirely different topic .

  • I'm not necessarily saying that the old system was better. And I agree entirely, @lawgnome. Such strange magic phases should not be part of the game. And there could simple solutions, like e.g. having access to more spells, which are individually much weaker. That'd actually bring some variety back.

  • Quote from Adam: “I have won a fair share of tournaments myself but I can see how making game nearly only dependent on skill is somewhat detrimental to fun. Right now if you are inferior player you will loose 95+% of your games with someone better and close to 100% with someone significantly better. That gives no hope for newer players. Also the ability to surprise opponent in casual game with some crazy unconventional build is greatly reduced if not gone totally. Compare that to poker in which …
