  • The Good; the changes to the militia are interesting, the new rules for the inquisitor make it interesting (although it just bumped up the cost of the witches hammer by half) and something (anything really) being tried with the cavalry pick is a good idea. Oh and 5 points off the cannon is a welcome change. The Bad; I am deeply saddened that the horse knights get no love. A 1 pt reduction on GW or KO... is a 3% value change. Wow, don't over correct there I can see how some of the points adjustme…

  • Sorry Lost Cause, I wasn't trying to pile on you, I was writing my frustration while you replied. I appreciate what you guys on the team have done and are doing. fingers crossed this gets fixed.

  • For Years, I am talking since 5th edition, many (if not most) of my Empire lists featured one or more often two units of Elite knights as the fighting heart of my army. Units of 9 to 12 knights with a character or two, who would lead the counter-charge in the second half of the game, charging and breaking enemy units that had been weakened by firepower and magic, and pulled out of alignment by my fighting units. The current stat-lines of our cavalry, and expense of mounting our heroes means that…

  • Yes but to get the lance and shield and strength 4, costs 48pts per additional knight for EoS. The Barrow knight has that gear in the base cost. We don't. To get the lance and shield and not the KO upgrade costs an extra 40 pts to that base cost of 160pts. So 200pts for 5 knights, who with the exception of 1 pt of armour, have worse stats. It isn't a little off kilter, it is insane. We have mediocre knights priced like "Warrior Knights" and "Barrow Knights". I can live with the mediocre stats, b…

  • I did not see a single regular knight in any of those last 7 or 8 lists. This probably is just making my argument for me. At the current point values they are simply way to expensive for what you get. Without a major pt reduction or strength boost, they will continue to be absent from competitive lists. Fingers crossed for that hot fix.

  • I am hopeful that the hot fix includes repairing our knights and either a correction of the pistol rules to bring back stand and shoot at point blank, or a points adjustment down to represent the loss of this ability. In the long run it would be nice to see the points load shifted from the core troops to the buffing mechanisms, buff wagons, prelates, etc. but that seems like long term planning not 'hot fix' kind of thinking. For the knights the hot fix needs to bring back the Great weapon option…

  • Honestly I like Cosmology the least. Divination or Alchemy are my preferred options. There is something satisfying about bubble buffs from divination or Word of Iron giving you 1+ save imperial Guard on foot and making your opponent flammable.

  • Just to clarify the first game was against my Sylvan elves, then my Orks & Gobs, and the last two games against my EoS. So it hasn't just been a learning curve against EoS alone. And yes, I certainly gave you a much rougher ride than I usually do against your Daemons. It gets better?

  • I liked the 2 attack knights, and the stubborn was nice too, however their loss isn't a deal breaker. The lack of strength and skill 4 on what is traditionally an elite type of troop is 'not good' and a wrong in need of righting. Also, I think there should be some sort of option available for a 2 handed weapon, great or halberd equivalent, either or would be great. That said, the major problem with the current knights 'as designed' is about price. Any model can be useful if the points cost refle…

  • I am with Cortrilion on this: The nerf is mostly to units that I used a lot, and the benefits are to ones I did not. Also that was the implication of @Fthunder's proposition. To DanT; I would be happier with 2.0 KO not requiring a Knight Commander and an appropriate point drop. I can live without the 2nd attack, but you can't pay 48pts a model (core or not) for it and have it be a "used and useful" option. Not with Imperial Guard at 18pts or Chicken Knights at 100. If a major point drop means mo…

  • @Fthunder I am glad you think it was easy. While that is a nice attempt to recreate or update that list for 2.0 the KotSG are an issue. I don't own the models, I don't like the models, and I don't want large cavalry. Here are some of the things that Large Cavalry - KotSG - doesn't do that KO does. Harnessed. All the Strength 5 AP 3 attacks are lovely but can't benefit from the Blessings rule. Whether from a mounted Prelate or a War Altar nearby, they don't benefit. Multi-wound vulnerable - Large…

  • The specific problem: Current iteration of horse mounted knights. What is the problem?:This iteration of the rules kills knights of the horse variety. 48pts for a knight with 1 fewer attacks than the old Knightly Order at 50pts? And that can only be accessed if I buy a rather pricey hero to go with it? Because unfortunately otherwise it is 38 pts for a skill 3 strength 3 human in fabulous armour. For 18pts I get an elite human, on foot, wearing plate, with st 4, and an option for a greatweapon w…

  • Hello, My handle is Gaius Marius, and I have been an Empire army player for going on 25 years. I do not own, have never owned, and frankly almost never see locally KotSG. I have however used KO every single game of 9th Age. Before 9th age I used Knights (strength 4 knights) every single game. I won tournaments, and placed very well in a couple very large ones using Empire knights in 7th and 8th editions Just because I haven't played ETC does not make my case imaginary. I liked having in 1.3 a st…

  • For the record, losing the stand and shoot isn't just about 1.6 hits. Wolves, dogs, goblin wolf or spider riders, what ever enemy light cavalry you wish to name, comes around the outside trying to get at your artillery, which recall, now needs to be even more exposed. You have some pistoliers nearby, you can either A) Charge the enemy to watch them probably flee (or if you were vanguarding you can't charge), if the charge then fails you can't shoot at all... so maybe you chose B) Move up into an…

  • thank you Fthunder and DanT. To Dan in particular, yes the only major issue i have is that the loss of Special category Knights. A decent knight at a decent point cost option is now simply gone.if that was returned, maybe with some flavour options for the various Knightly orders, it would help a lot. Otherwise it is mostly a matter of point adjustments. I would like to see some points nudges that acknowledge that EoS basic units are overpriced (my pet theory is that they are costed as though the…

  • I am re-posting most of this from another thread because if this is the official site for feedback, then here is your feedback. First off I appreciate the efforts of the design team. I know it is a lot of work and I appreciate the effort. It is always easier to edit or criticize a finished work than it is to write or build it from scratch yourself. That said, here are my thoughts. TLDR version is - if you have Less functionality @ same points, it = Nerf If EoS is suffering on the power curve (an…

It is always easier to edit or criticize a finished work than it is to write or build it from scratch yourself. That said, here are my thoughts. TLDR version is - if you have Less functionality @ same points, it = Nerf If EoS is suffering on the power curve (and most arguments I have seen say it is), then why Nerf it? I have playtested the new 2.0 BRB and the 2.0 EoS book a few times no…

  • I just played a game with them last night and it was a fun, reasonably strong list. Now I run Rangers not Spear Elves with my Elf portion, so maybe that accounts for some of it, but the Rangers with sufficient numbers and a Hero or two are amazing elves. The Trees are fun too. Certainly stronger than my EoS lists lately.
