  • T9A in Poland

    ferny - - Poland

    Post

I think it would also be interesting to know what the main competitors are in Poland? 40k, aos, kow, xwing, etc? How do they compare to the T9a scene?

  • What's ROI? Quote from Masamune88: “I just find that the DH book is overly hard to crack with HBE, they seem to have an answer for every situation and special rules that mean that you are mitigating anything coming your way regardless. I came up against our highest ranked player in NZ on a friendly and he has a 75 seeker list complete with organ gun, dragon seekers, GCH, catapult and gyro.... How the actual feck do you get through that with HBE? Just avoid it all day long? Christ that's a boring…

  • Quote from Adam: “@AlexCat well first and foremost for me HBE fast CC builds worked because of characters, so the biggest change was game wide move from 50% to 40%, then KoR busses got worse because WBoR doesn't grant AP and doesn't work on characters. Then to the characters themselves: RH on LC as you mentioned is significantly worse but also cannot join units so you can no longer run 1 or 2 of them in a bus of cavalry having multiple ranks to break steadfast. As for cavalry characters they got…

  • Quote from Borjnfer Wraith: “On a bit of a different note; Since magical items, (both BRB and AB) and spells will be in a flux for awhile, thereby anticipating changes, would it not be a reasonable idea to have all the magical items, and spells combined in one book? That way new BRBs won't have to be published every time a change is made to magic items. And we all want to see new magic items from time to time ” @Crafty @saint_barbara

  • @Peacemaker not sure you can really claim we only have one wizard option. Our base wizard has two distinct upgrade paths, plus we have moct with two bases. On top of that all our options are affected by master of spell casting, which is a neat bonus. Sure we don't have empire buff wagons, dwarven anvils, beastly totems or the like, but our basic spell options are decent.

  • Quote from Mike newman: “To aid those going to Cardiff tournament mid month (and to prevent them having to ply two events in a row with the same list) we have decided to push the list submission deadline back until midnight on Monday 18th June ” Quote from pedrobedo: “Hi all, just to check... is list submission still this Sunday June 10th. Thought i had seen somewhere it was pushed back to the 18th but can't find anything or remember where i thought i saw it? thanks ”

  • I think @Riismanden did something like this a while back? Or was it @Emgies? Anything more than a week ago and my mind blurs... Whoever it was though, it was a cracking analysis!

  • I don't think I've ever seen this enacted in T9a, but if an option is fundamentally a liability even if costed at zero points it will not be taken. What if Eagle mounts gave a discount to your expensive elf chassis. So you get a bargain basement avoidance mage or focused character. More fundamentally though I'm not sure they'd be good for tee game. I can't see why you'd take an Eagle mount other than for avoidance, something we don't want to focus on. I don't feel thar all options need to be. We…

  • I'm roughly planning a lamia with big brick of barrow guard AND big brick of skellington spears, with a view to putting her in the skellies more often than not (bg seem solid solo, no?) I kinda feel 4+4++ distracting is the most efficient load out. Feels strange not maximising armour, coming from an elven background, but seems OK here. Thanks for the comments I think you've given me the confidence to try out. Might even play the HERETIC card

  • Merc for Tri-Gamer Cup?

    ferny - - General Discussion

    Post

I'd recommend re posting in the tournament thread for this event and messaging Mikey on WhatsApp too (he's fairly likely to know who else is looking for mercs). @bognog might still be looking.

  • I played moct Bsb as a solo caster in early 2.0 with heirloom and vambraces. Imo he needed both to have enough spells to make dispel prioritisation difficult. He was super efficient, probably too much so. I used him just as a caster and Bsb so no need for combat gear or protection, just treat him like a mage. Need to be a little bit clever with positioning cos of vambraces range and Bsb bubble, but was fine. Imo this build is dead now because the hereditary isn't a good fit for him unless you ge…

  • Quote from supermercado08: “Destiny, Night's Crown and Sword of True Thirst on my Lord! And I still manage to get her killed in the first round of combat a lot ” Night's crown looks really strong, but this is clearly a maximum defence set up. Do you think it is points well invested? What sort of things kill her first round of combat? One shotting this seems like a mean feat for anything without MW/stomps, and even then she's not exactly defenceless. Was this just bad luck or are there some serio…

  • I'm an elf player so I'm used to t3 Lords, casters, generals, everything. So I look for 2+/4++ as essential. But a Vampire is base t5... But but, if it dies you have crumble. I know with dwarf Lords they're hardy enough that there comes a point where doubling down on protection becomes a poor return for your poonts; I'm wondering if it's the sMe with vampires. For example, a lamia lord. You could take 2+ armour and a ward/regen, or destiny call and distracting. And you could back this up with th…

  • TBF I don't think they're worthless, just that other equivalents would do their role better/cheaper/more efficient. I'm also *considering* them now, I just feel they're not quite there yet. I don't think it's so much the 20% fewer arrows, but rather the 20% fewer wounds and shorter range, which means you miss out more on the remaining 80% you have. I totally get what you're saying, there feels like an efficiency to them, a shooter and a combater, and it feels right that a creature with BS and WS…

  • Quote from espn: “Quote from ferny: “What was your thinking in taking the warden's bond upgrade? It's quite pricy - do you think the points are worth it in this list over investment elsewhere? ” It can be the difference between 420 points to your opponent or 0, as you can heal wounds after resurrection with MoCT. ” You can??? Tasty...:)

  • @Vipralisk - I was playing around with sea guard following the recent points drop and the fact that you can fit in 2 blocks of 7x3 FC sea guard with Navigators x1 and Rending x1 for just over core points makes them intriguing. I don't think it's better than the equivalent points spent on archers, spears and/or lancers, but at least you're not being taxed over core very much. I agree that they are a unit which begs to be charged, and much more so than spears, which with 21 attacks from a small fr…

  • Quote from Adam: “Quote from Wesser: “I just find it much more appropriate for HBE characters to lead/direct their units first and get their hands dirty second - unlike SE characters who are much more individualistic. ” I would prefer that too but RT and BGT seem to think otherwise. ” Yeah me too. I hate that element of the new lore, like really really strongly dislike it. That a qc gives qtf, a lion Lord valient, etc, the old fc reforms, that I like. Its a Lord leading and inspiring. Outside of…

  • Quote from matrim: “Who uses skirmish LG?? ” errr...I do? There's a lot of sylvans in my meta and they're a real ace in the hole vs them - very very difficult to shoot off. Also without AP fire magic is less reliable vs htem too, so they more or less need to be dealt with in combat, where despite their skirmish formation they're still lions. Strike before a lot of cav, fast, manouverable - actually a very decent choice IMO! (I was sceptical too before I tried them...
