That's...Unintended as heck, as far as I remember, but given how much effort we made to try and make the Colossus more interesting, I'm going to call this a happy accident, unlike the Ankh, and hope we can leave it be. Really, this actually might make the bow an interesting option to consider, something it hasn't been in a long time. It's unlikely to make the Colossus an automatic pick again. But seriously, the UD task team has an atrocious history with things like this happening, pretty soon th…

I dunno about the wording on some of our rules, true, but what I TRULY consider evil, are nested rules.

Oh yeah, yours and @corkydk lists are the only two mirror match-ups where I absolutely DON'T want to end up in. Him due to the Stalkers he loves so much, yours because Archer Shabti can't actually directly compete with melee shabti when it comes to duking it out, and undead lists in general heal the meager amount of wounds the shabti archers do pretty quickly. But I wasn't making a direct comparison on an unit against unit basis, but the effect they have on the game starting from pairings. Arche…

Quote from Getyrom: “I am really surprized to see so many Shabti Archers. What's the deal? I guess it's the nature of a team event, but still... ” For me, it's not even about it being a team event (my 2x Dread Sphinx are due to it being a team event though), but about the fact that they can now take Rending Banner, which completely changes the unit. The only thing that kept them from being good was their lackluster combat performance, which has been removed now that they can buy that +1AP bonus.…

19 UD lists in ETC this year, making us one of the more popular armies this time around, and probably for the first time ever? Didn't really see that one coming, but I'm pretty happy about it. Surprisingly few made use of the Ankh "abuse", which in turn makes me a dirty player since I did.

  • Pharaohs will likely make a showing, but only due to Terracotta Pharaoh-spam "abuse". I look forward to this since it'll give even more incentive to prune the damn auxiliaries into their own armylists/books instead of making balancing them in the main book a nightmare for everyone involved. All in all, I'll make no comment about this.

  • Quote from theunwantedbeing: “Quote from Palmu: “I dislike looking things up, especially since it breaks my flow of thought ” Is that a mental health issue? ” Dunno, but if arguing for your point requires you to resort to personal attacks, it means the argument is finished, and I'll get back to actual work.

  • I dislike looking things up, especially since it breaks my flow of thought and is especially annoying in tournament venues where I'm playing on a time limit, and spending a minute to look something up every now and then wastes some of that time.

  • Quote from theunwantedbeing: “That's an issue of the effects of the items, not an issue of the number of items.Couple of questions1. How is it a nightmare? 2. What's currently stopping you from using the freely available rules to just check what an item or rule does? ” I was referring to my own idea of each book having around 25-30 unique items, which would be bloody impossible for me at least to remember, even the current amount of items is a difficulty. Common items are good in that you just l…

  • Quote from theunwantedbeing: “Quote from Palmu: “My personal preference would be to cut out all the BRB items, and just have 10-12 new magic items per armybook. ” Sounds awful. It's bad enough the common items were cut down to just 43 in total, but cutting them down further? ” And a very large part of those items are either niche or useless in some books. Oh, it's also a nightmare to learn about during the game, the best part of common items is that you know what they do, while usually I have to…

  • My personal preference would be to cut out all the BRB items, and just have 10-12 new magic items per armybook. The BLT would probably die from the work overload, though. Not to mention all the layout work.

  • I would definitely prefer this.

Yeah, pretty much. Also partially because we're holding hope in getting an actual whip weapon back for them.

That's the reason why it wasn't immediately changed, the task team didn't feel that it was necessarily a bad thing despite being an oversight. So it's staying at least for a little while.

Quote from TheSpid: “That confuses me a little. What is the intention? I thought part of it was to allow non-wizard armies. ” Yes, but currently Wizards can buy it and due to the wording on Hierophant a wizard DOESN'T need to actually take Hierophant so they can just buy it from an outside source, the Ankh. This is a rather derpy oversight from our part.

  • All humor aside the REAL answer ultimately boils down to keeping armies as distinct as possible and then coming up with in-setting excuses to justify this. Same deal as with pretty much every single game with multiple factions ever.

Quote from Jonnyman: “I use halberd Shabti just because that's the only unit I have painted up, but they almost never disappoint on damage dealt. ” Same. I didn't spend all that effort on converting those Stalker arms and halberds to fit on Shabti just to play paired weapons. Which reminds me, I should repaint those guys to fit the new color scheme of my army...Eugh, even more collar-painting.

Also, though I don't really have anything to do with the background of the game, my personal preference would be to see the Cataphracts as a part of the nomadic tribes instead of the royal border guard they are now. The sneaky tactics they prefer would make a lot of sense in that regard.
