The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.

  • May also not work with some spells that modify the Armour Value from armours and Shields but not from Innate Armour. Same for Shields that work against shooting but not against melee attacks when troops carry two handed weapons for instance. If we merge everything in a single Armour Value, we do not know what portion thereof is from Armour, Shields and Innate.

Quote from kisanis: “@Cyprinus I think we're missing a page from the batrep - We don't have the army list/description for the VC army, only the EoS one! Anyway to make a 1.1 version of this doc? I noticed a few small details that slipped through/got lost in layout conversion Quote from Squirrelloid: “The rewritten Revelations needed someone more comfortable with King James's English. It reads awkwardly because there's very clearly two entirely separate vocabularies from the two different authors…

I can see the use for seperate articles. Just collect the pages from the Scroll that form one chapter and create a new pdf [note 1]. Upload that on Social Media with some intro text on what is being discussed and where to find more articles like it. Or show the first (two) page(s) and if people get interested in the content they can read all about it in the scroll. Maybe do one Chapter per week (instead of a repost of the entire Scroll) to keep exposure going and start discussion on specific con…

Will do the updates later today, and I will see if I can find an email address for Karak Norn Clansmen. As for Special Characters. Playable and Fieldable Named Characters (with stats and extra rules) could be provided via a format similar to the Auxiliary armies? Perhaps as part of Campaign Book or it’s own dedicated document (include history stories so that it also expands the background fluff).

Quote from vegetalss4: “I think the full version is using the wrong version of the front art. The rough sketch lineart of the fly staff looks pretty odd compared to the rest of the very detailed character at least. ” True.. Good spot. I had not noticed it myself. Oops. I am using Artwork from a big pile of Arts... And not all of them are finished or completed (some more obvious than others). I think another version of this Art Piece ended up in the WoDG book - where it has another decoration at …

  • Quote from Adaephon_Delat: “We already have riders with heavy armor, Shield and Lance (and light troops +feigned flight) and nearly no one uses them. Don't think that this will change when you give them orders. And don't make it too complicated. Such a change is something for the full rewrite, what we need is a small change that wouldn't make them too powerful but viable ” I must have missed where it said we could only provide input for the slimbook... the above summary I presented would be for …

  • Quote from LostCause: “I agree with a lot of you that heavy cav across the game are in a rough position. However, it’s very unlikely that this situation will change before the golden edition of the rules. So! Let’s return our focus to EoS. The majority seem to have agreed that we retain some kind of Core knight option, and have a Special knight option. If you had your way, what would these knights look like? ” Knight Commander (Upgrade option for Special Order OR keep as Electoral/Imperial Knigh…

Quote from Fnarrr: “^ Its an interesting point, but if the ONLY thing that will change with the BRB and FABs on a annual basis is the half a dozen pages with costs on them, maybe we shouldn't include them in the printed version as a design decision? And then create PDF versions for each of those books (and the BRB) with just those few pages? ” Interesting thought. I guess we could exclude all costs from the army books - if these costs fit on a single page. Having multiple pages to cross-check fo…

Cyprinus - - Empire of Sonnstahl (EoS)

    Post

Quote from Litoperez: “Hi everybody, @Cyprinus, I personally think that plate armor is the very essence of EoS, i just cannot have regular cheap heavy armor this is for all the other armies how doesn't believe on engineering. ” Removing it from Knights in Core and leaving it for the Special Knightly Orders does not remove anything from the ‘essence of EoS’. Also, why are heavy infantry not stuffed into Fullplate (or at least heavy armour)? Probably because it is expensive. Maybe so expensive tha…

  • Perhaps dropping Fullplate on Core Knights and leave them for Knightly Orders would help lower the price of ‘Core’ Knights and set he Core and Special knights further apart. A 2+ save is still good enough and if you want more protection, complement them with an Alchemy Wizard? To me, the fullplate in core feels out of place. Our foot troops wander about in light armour, but the basic knights have the best armour around? But that may just be me. As for the statlines. Core knights same as heavy in…

  • Quote from Kasocles: “How does double the price of a standard troop model justify the one attack you get from the champion? In my case, for an ID champion you'd pay 50pts easily. And don't get me started on monstrous infantry and such ” Not saying it is... but it might be more fair than slapping 20 points on all upgrades? The more expensive the guy is, the more powerful it is. It is not so much the one attack that is a point sink (although a stronger model has mor benefit from it than a weaker),…

  • Maybe double the price of a standard troop model for the champion cost and add 50% more for the Musician and Standard Bearer? So for the cost of two models you will have a full command. Not the best solution, but cheaper units will not give away more point (percentile) when dying thanks to having command groups compared to the elite (and harder to kill) expensive choices. Question is (and has been raised by others)... Can we even value all upgrades equally for all units. For some a musician is b…

  • Quote from The Changing Constant: “Reiters means rider, it would make no sense to have them on foot. ” As mentioned by someone else before me... the name would not be ‘Reiters on Foot’. I was speaking mechanically and rules... For if you gift them Fire on Impact (as was raised as a random idea), you might as well? But that would not solve the Militia problem, just add a new unit (more likely to end up outside of core).

  • Make them Reiters on foot if you want to add Fire on Impact

  • Quote from Markus loveheart: “My playgroup has already dropped the game, and i couldnt say we miss this game at all. ” And yet, here you are...
