  • Good idea Dan. Perhaps the wizard should get the horse for free? It seems he is at an disadvantage when mounted no matter what, seems unfair he should pay 20 points to buy that disadvantage.

  • I really like the idea, but fear it might be too radical to win favor with the rules team. Perhaps we should be satisfied with the prelate who already works, and focus on making the KC and the horse knights work? (And by the way, I really like your suggestion for the horse knights too). Just one thing: In the old GW days Empire Knights were definitely about the glorious charge. Both rules wise in many editions, and fluff wise (Read their lore from olde army books to the end times). In my opinion…

  • 1) Small. You need to have as much of your army as possible within the bubble, while still being able to maneuver. I suggest lining your units up and practice/measure them. 2) The best answer is more shooting since we are a slow army with few units that can fight on their own. Luckily, you can get quite a lot of shooting with EoS. You can further boost your shooting by magic. I use a Divination wizard with magical heirloom and choose Altered Sight from Cosmo as my hereditary spell. This means yo…

  • If our monsters were better we would be less reliant on cannons to deal with other monsters, while having a lot of mobility and punch. Could make for some variety in lists. I say yay to beef of the Griffon, the Dragon and the Pegasus!

Bloody MIsfire - - Empire of Sonnstahl (EoS)

    Post

So, after playing a cosmology master on foot like every one else, I was wondering which other competitive builds there were. What do you guys think of a Wizard Apprentice with Alchemy on a horse? The purpose of this guy is two fold. First of all he will use his mobility and expendability to bring the pain to heavily armored expensive targets such as knights and mounted characters. Secondly he will synergize nicely with the flaming banner and the prelates blessings, making our enemies flammable. …

  • - What do you believe the issue with this unit is? Triple nerf and lack of a role in the army. - Do you think this could be resolved by a points adjustment? No. - If not, how would you 'fix' this unit? Make it more powerful. Keep paired weapons. And give it a purpose. Perhaps Feigned flight (The Patriot anyone?). Or like it was proposed, make it a retinue of the Inquisitor/artificer. - Do you have any additional comments to do with this unit? Try to get an exception from the stand and shoot spec…

  • - What do you believe the issue with this unit is? Not worth taking because he does not provide synergies. Magic items allowance too small to make him shine. Needs mobility or the enemy will simply avoid him. But the model on foot looks so cool - Do you think this could be resolved by a points adjustment? No the cost is fine. - If not, how would you 'fix' this unit? He needs to fill a role. This could be obtained in a number of different ways: - He could give MR in a bubble which would make him …

  • - What do you believe the issue with this unit is? He is not worth taking compared to Characters that provide synergies. His order can be obtained from the Marshall that we already have, making it less of a bonus. His can give him self accurate two times (Long rifle and order), making one of them redundant. He needs to stay very close to the artillery. - Do you think this could be resolved by a points adjustment? No the cost is fine. - If not, how would you 'fix' this unit? Make the order he giv…

  • - What do you believe the issue with this unit is? It is weak and boring to play because it cannot really do what you ought to think knights does = Glorious charges that hurt the enemy! - Do you think this could be resolved by a points adjustment? A major point drop would make them competitive, but they would still be boring. I believe a point adjustment is needed for making them worth while, but a point adjustment alone can only do so much. - If not, how would you 'fix' this unit? The unit lack…

  • This is very interesting, I look forward for your experiences

  • Thanks for the replies, I see your points. What is the general sentiment regarding multiple small units of core archers vs. one big unit? And how would you use the different units?

  • Good points and interesting builds Just one question: I usually find my BSB and general not being able to reach many units, because they are spread all over the board. Sometimes I wonder if the BSB is even worth it. If I don't spread out I usually die. But maybe that's because I have primarily fought VC and is used to playing EoS which can't function out of the leadership bubble.

  • That sounds interesting. Could you elaborate in which situation which builds would be good?

  • Ah I see. But an expensive work around eh? I mean, shooting is good but you need more than shooting to win.

  • I do not get why you guys want to spend money on 2x pathfinder chieftan? It is the extra leadership? Seems a bit expensive.

  • Quote from Maelstorm: “I think the price is the way it is because they are 1+ AS, S6 knights in core, that armour save is really one of the most important part of them, either being unupgraded^^ But yes, allowing the KC to give an order if he is general (probably at a cost) would be nice. ” And yet, they are still not worth their points Especially now since "core tax" is apparently not a thing anymore.

  • Round is Good Do not change things that is not broken. Seriously there is no need. I just played a tournament with four warmachines and there were no problems what so ever. Also, I bought four round bases from GW mail order (Not cheap) and spend many hours making them look good with lot's of extra detail, some of which would break if I tried to take it off. No it would not Im trying to make my friends play this game rather than 8th edition. And the main obstacle is the constant changes to everyt…

  • I think orders for the knight commander could be a way to go, but as you say they would need to be redesigned to fit him. But I like the devastating charge more actually. The KO are weak. A better charge is the only thing that can make them up to snuff. Remember, they used to have 2 attacks all the time and still not be worth their points. An expensive model that only have 1 attack is simply not going to perform unless he is really cheap - which I doubt KO will ever be.

  • This could fix a number of units and create better internal balance: - Knightly orders cheaper. - Electoral cav a bit cheaper. - Knight commander giving devastating charge (+1 attack) to the unit he joins. He should only be mounted. He is a knight commander after all. - Artificer giving +6 range on an order. Would combine and synergize nicely with Ready aim fire from a Marshall. - Long rifle get +1 to hit instead of accurate which they already receive from order. - Marshall at 155 points. - Inqu…

  • If Prelate could be BSB, Marshall would disappear. The Prelate is fine. Let's focus on what isn't.
