A stable ruleset is not the same thing as no additional content. A stable ruleset is a firm, fixed (mostly) set of BASE rules. The issue a lot of people had was that BASIC SYSTEMS were constantly being changed. Magic, the way you build armies, etc. Not many, at least to my admittedly limited knowledge, wanted no new additions or new content or new balance passes.

Do you know how many variations/editions of monopoly have been released over the years? Think of any kind of niche fandom, and theres more than likely a monopoly for it.

Almost every successful, modern hobby has regular updates and expansions and content releases. By regular I mean 6month to yearly, usually. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Are there outliers to this? I am certain. But a game with no new updates or releases for years is a really bad decision. Theres a segment of population that might appreciate it, but a game that isnt growing isnt gaining new players. So even if its just minor stuff, we NEED a regular release schedule.

Ive seen the work in progress of the WotDG book and I too am excited about a lot of the options and interesting choices they will have. So far, on paper, it looks about like what I want this game to become eventually. We'll see how it turns out. Hopefully all books can get this treatment sooner than later.

There is a problem with the UD army, however. Its one trick. Its not fun to play right now. Look, coming into this, Undying Dynasties was MY army. I loved it. Its my first ever fully painted army and I enjoyed the many different things I could do with it and the many different ways I could play it. So keep this in mind: I want the UD army to be the best it possibly can be. And by best I mean: The FUNNEST it can possibly be. Right now its the least fun its ever been. Ever. I've switched to other …

One of my biggest pet peeves about the current state of T9A: Everyone is always trying to tell me how I should play my armies, and how I gotta play it a certain way or I can't play it some other way cause its not 'thematic' or whatever. Then they are all like 'But we want all the armies to be unique and different!' Which is silly, because you do that by Adding To the army you want to be different, not Taking Away From everyone else. Really bugs me. If I want an 'Awakened Defenders of an Ancient …

As to the Thematic Background Fit for certain armies having access to certain spells... The great thing about being the creators and drivers of this game is this: We can make stuff up. If we want a lore to fit into an army, we can alter the army or the lore to fit it in there. So I don't worry too much about the 'Does this path fit the army?' arguments...because lets be honest...anything can be made to fit. You can justify anything. As for the argument about the paths being generic and boring cu…

Quote from Vamp87: “I play VC and always take 3 Altars of Undeath lots of wizards and then fill the rest of my army up with huge blocks of undead (Like units of 60 zombies, 50 skeletons, 40 barrow guard with halberds, etc.) and because of all my magic already I never should take a dispel scroll. My first couple turns are just pure raising where I just spam evoc to get those units up to cap. Unfortunately, my meta is filled with people taking level 4 pyro mages, I mean essentially every army has …

Quote from WhammeWhamme: “ Random spells lead to more interesting gameplay. Less predictable, more improvisational. ” This would only be true if all spells were equal. Theres not much interesting about investing points in a wizard that has no effect upon the game...not because he couldn't cast, but because he had nothing worth casting. There is PLENTY of random elements with this game. Do we need or want more?? Id say....we want DIFFERENT kinds of randomness than we now have, ESPECIALLY with mag…

Quote from Aenarion43: “Agreed! There are plenty of times when I wish I could pick my spells. Just last night, I was playing against Vampire Covenant with my Highborn Elves using an MoCT. My Alchemy spell ended up being Glory of Gold (OH YEAH!). However, my Druidism spells ended up being Entwining Roots (limited targets because he was running so many core units with WS1 or 2), Spirit of the Woods (again, limited use because no shooting to protect myself from AND throne needed to be up to be rele…

I worry about the whole 'nothing new for years' thing. I don't think thats healthy, nor is it wise. Games and communities are kept alive by consistent new content. It doesnt have to be great redesigns every 2 months...but maybe SOMETHING new every quarter...whether it be a new unit, a cool scenario, SOMETHING. Having no new changes or additions for years....I disagree thats the way to go.

To be fair to the writers of the background and the path: Occultism screams to me something that can grant great power, but at a cost....sacrifice of blood and binding of demons. All of these are Bad Things. Why do people practice Occultism? To get this great power. But it is generally frowned upon by most factions as Evil...and rightly so. So the practicioners, even if they do gain great power, don't want to let it be known that they are doing this kinda stuff...cause, well, they will be hunted…

You reduce the yetis attacks by quite a lot while still retaining a huge combat res advantage. ” Can't you see anything weird in that strategy: reduce charge to make it more effective..? • @Klexe depends on how many ranks the enemy mi have. The ok player I play most has a 12 strong block with 4 ranks. It means charging the flank is worse than a rear. But in msu its more likely they are wider than they are deep and since msu tends to dominate....I see your point

  • You really only need one unit to make it in that case. A single unit can do the job in the flank. in the case cited above the infantry player had gotten just the opportunity you seem to think so rare. Monstrous infantry is tough and ogre kingdoms are I think in a very good spot right now. But infantry is by no means "bad". My best lists are the ones that focus on 2-3 solid infantry blocks. I play wotdg and ud
