  • Its just an idea, same as anyone elses in this thread. I disagree it will kill more skinks than opponent models as you get to move both skinks and thyroscutus.

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Glass cannon armies really suffer against shooting. Against SE you gotta take a pyro mage and then you auto-win. ” It's kinda sad how true this is.

  • Mmm, I like the DT test idea. Any unit starting or ending a (March/Charge/Flee/Pursuit/Overrun) move within 12" of a Thyroscutus must take DT(1) for half the models in the unit rounded up. A unit can never be affected by this more than once per phase. I'd keep it as both friendly and enemy as it makes sense fluffwise while also helping balance wise. I could see it being toned down to 6" as 12" aura is probably a bit much. Could even make this the snake version and have something else for the sun…

  • Couple of points, none of you could know this but we did ask for a grinding thyroscutus (proposal was 3d3 plus the 3-4a at S4 if I recall) but were given a firm no with a "think of the poor elves!!". Second point is why solve one problem when we could solve 2. My proposal is give the thyroscutus an attack that fits the concept of a giant heavily armoured dinosaur. "The earth shakes..." If the Thyroscutus has not made a march move in the preceding movement phase then if - The thyroscutus is uneng…

  • Assassins - How?

Quote from Lich King: “There is one single job an assassin has to do. Why shouldn't he be successful? Will be hard enough to bring this guy into 12" to his target. Especially if you keep in mind in what kind of units he must be placed. They are squishy and low in health points. If the enemy focuses fire and/or magic on them, they ll blow up easily. High risk high rewarded. Seems to fit to an assassin. ” Cos scouting and high movement value means that it takes a moron not to be in 12" of his targ…

  • Quote from Red88: “the smal Carno should outfight them.. +1 as would do a lot... ” I assume you mean in theory it should? in practice the carno blows up before it swings and never gets to pick its fight due to higher movement and flying.

The linear format is a massive improvement. Frankly the QRS is almost unreadable based on that screenshot.

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “I dont get why this model lost unbreakable. It was not op imo. For an op unbreakable model, please see DH vengeance seeker! ” Cos we traded it for a big points drop, no comment on what we received. Quote from Lawot: “From my (limited) experience, and from the feedback I'm seeing in the "recognizing our threats" thread, it seems like fast-moving, hard-hitting units in general, and chariots in particular, are a major threat to SA. The idea of using the Thyro …

Quote from arnau_27396: “Quote from marcema: “I never felt that i needed the champions in them. ” When you carry 1500 points in 2 character models you should feel that champs in ramphos are useful. ” Depends on what the characters end up doing. When I first started playing seriously one of the hardest things to understand was that sometimes the best thing a combat lord on big mount can do is nothing. It may seem counter intuitive but actually makes sense if you understand the principle of late 1…

Still fairly sure the problem is your dice. With grasp you should still get 2 spells off easy. But I will agree your target priority was wrong.

  • Quick reminder that the kings of avoidance shooting bulls**t is still skinks with range 12" so I'm not sold that cutting range for power is the way to go here.

  • I'll be on the sunny side of the wall, ta. I liked the units of 12 lancers so much they are now a go to core block for me. Stick them wide on a flank, ideally with one piece of chaff and they are a massive threat. For under 600 you get a fast solid combat block that is immune to the usual elf counter of pyromancy. I fail to see the problem, yes they can't run headfirst into main combat units but if you want to play herp derp smash toys together in the middle see my beginners list.

  • Quote from Aegon: “Quote from DanT: “If you make elves more elite, the battleline problems and beginner problems will only multiply. You either drop eliteness or drop movement. I don't see any other way to improve those two problems, barring some very clever FAB stuff that I can't foresee right now. ” I want to keep their current eliteness, but redesign their strengths/weaknesses. Less weak against shooting+CC attacks. Less strong by hitting simultaneously. Again, just one example. There are oth…

  • Quote from AlexCat: “By the way, people, which you consider a superior mount in the current AB: Griffon or Yound Dragon? ” Both have their uses and place. If I'm kitting out a character then I'll probably get the young dragon, 2+/4++ or 1+/1+ is too good to pass up but the mundane only griffon is not unplayable for the points and is much much better in combat. Drop griffon 30pts and I'll take 2 please every game.

  • Yup, see my list from the weekend. I'll admit 11/42 isn't perfect but considering I had a horrific game 2 where everything worked for my opponent from double 6 charges to catapults hitting for max of wounds every turn...

Quote from There Is No Spoon: “Quote from Ipower: “Quote from There Is No Spoon: “Quote from Ipower: “Considering the current molten copper is actually based off one of my suggestions I'd rather keep it as is . ” I dislike intensely it for two reasons:1. Copycat Design: At the end of the day it's a boring variation of Quicksilver Lash.2. Redundancy: This may be nice for the active player, but it's pretty depressing for the reactive player. T4 elite cavalry might as well not even deploy. ” The de…

  • Quote from AlexCat: “He probably meant competitive playstyles. ” all tree and the dragon cav lists are absolutely competitive, not sure about DE monster mash but I doubt it's bad.

  • My attempt at a list I could give to a hbe beginner. Prince, General, spear, heavy armour, blazing dawn, willows ward, protection of directors, lucky charm 465 Mage, order of fiery heart, Pyromancy, master, light armour, gleaming robe 500 Commander, BSB, MoCT, GW, destiny's call 415 2*35 spears, full command, rending banner 585 28 lions, full command, navigators banner, 864 2*1 great eagles 100 2*1 skysloops 265 2*7 swordmasters 176 Safe characters, 3 solid blocks that can take a charge, magic t…

  • It was about a year and a half ago but I did play a swordmaster deathstar to 2nd in a 60+ event but that was with the old fleet officer honour(honestly that being removed for the reasons it was made me lose a lot of faith in the community. It was one of the best and removed for being too bad?!?!). UK has always had a msu heavy metal with lots of SA and SE which limits the use of a big elite deathstar wearing paper. That said I could see a list with a pyro master, Moct bsb big block of swordmaste…
