  • If I shoot an Imperial Rocketeer at a war platform joined to a unit (say pendulum with plague monks or a court of the damned with skellies) and get three hits how do I distribute the hits? Can all three go against the platform or do they have to be distributed evenly? Same question regarding crossbows/handguns....

  • I really like the idea of causing auto wounds based on ranks. Allowing saves against the auto-wounds might be worth considering, as armor would still be useful against the mob attacks this is trying to incorporate. I'm also not too concerned about the effect on monsters because it would take two rounds of holding on to 3 ranks to kill the bigger monsters on auto hits alone. I also like the idea posted earlier about allowing shooting at towering presence in combat. With that change, you might be …

  • Quote from Fthunder: “Quote from DanT: “It was partly to reduce eliteness creep as well I thought? @Fthunder ? Otherwise the number of things stacked on 1 model starts to get silly... ” Absolutely correct ” cough.... elves.....cough...

  • I think the pricing is a result of D3 wounds being standard and if you want to use him with silver shots and keep him out of CC you're dragging around a lot of extra points. If/when a change happens I'd like to see him re-designed to make D3 wnds in CC an option purchased with blessed weapons and that would hopefully drive a price change, or at least make a cheaper ranged version a possibility.

  • I was looking at running a basic Inquisitor with silver shots on a crossbow, but it seems like a rocket battery does that job better for cheaper. Feeling like you have to spend a lot of points on him to make him work. I think I'd like him better if D3 wounds in cc wasn't standard and he had a cheaper base cost. Then you could buy either silver shots or blessed steel (and blessed steel could give him D3 wounds in cc as well as the str/ap bonus which doesn't feel worth 80 pts on it's own).

  • I think they started with the same post

  • @pendi Without going into specifics, you can rely on average numbers in the new magic phase. Ever rolled a 2 magic phase in 1.3?

  • @pendi I think you drew the wrong conclusions from @Folomo post. What he was saying was you can guarantee to have the spells you need available to boost the shabti with a low point investment and your magic flux (power dice) is more consistent. The 100% guarantee was about spell selection, not casting.

  • @GrayGork that's a fair point. I'm just worried that it'll be a harder sell to improve the rule after playtesting than it would be to reduce it's effect if necessary and 2.0 full book rework will probably be a while....

  • @arwaker I don't see most of the above being that large a boost over the spoiled BtF. I know it's not simple to determine but can you give some insight as to why the price would have to jump? Is there some unit that Orcs all of the sudden can beat reliably that they shouldn't? Even the original was still just an incremental change over the 1.3. I'm struggling to see how these ideas unequivocally need a points jump.

  • I don't like that you have to track it for each unit from end of combat on one turn to the combat next turn. There are obvious ways to do it, but I guarantee it will get forgotten. Also, when do you check? End of combat or beginning? Thinking awkward interaction with undead raising..... The nice thing about Primal Fury is that you roll the test right then as you need to know. So I really like the proposal about making it a discipline test. Another bonus there is that our frenzy units will have a…

  • @arwaker with a majority of Orcs making up the list? I've seen success talked about, but usually involving primarily goblins....

  • This sounds great, both from gameplay and theme! Good job to the team!

  • @beerbeard tagging you in case you think any of my thoughts could sway the RT.... Isn't the prevailing opinion that OnG are underperforming in 1.3 and that Orcs themselves are a big part of the problem? So I have a hard time seeing why if Orcs (only one part of the army) are given a boost like the first BtF rule spoiled there is an automatic feeling that they'll need a price hike. Put them on the field with a rule that we feel will give a good boost at points that allow lots of bodies and if the…

  • Noticed that the two necro apprentices seemed to both keep word of iron. Does that indicate spells can be duplicated or was it an error due to the newness of the magic phase to the players?

  • @jgetsi If you build it in and buy two warlords, the 2nd one paid points for something that they can't use, for example.

  • @beerbeard I'm just not a fan of that methodology. If it's good enough for the army I build I'd buy it, otherwise I should have the option not to. I understand it's been done that way so that every character doesn't have to pay extra points, but better still is to make it completely optional, in my opinion.

  • Do I have to spend XX points on waargh or is it my choice? Or is it free-ish (baked in to troop cost or something)? The original spoiler for BtF could have been very helpful to our boar boys, this one will often be no different than 1.3 for them. It will also encourage deep buses more, which I don't think look great and come with footprint, manuever and possibly point disadvantages (depending on cost for additional models). I'm disappointed the RT team didn't let the original BtF go into playtes…

  • Thanks guys! I look forward to doing more in the future!
