  • UD 2.0 FAQ thread

Palmu - - Undying Dynasties (UD)

    Post

I think it's pretty clear, in a roundabout way. "Units with one or more models with Undying Will", while the Crown says "This unit gains Undying Will", which means that every model in the unit has Undying Will. Therefore it has one or more models with UW.

It's the fifth day, but uh...Happy new year. I've been pretty busy alright.

  • Well, it's a combat-capable unit. Different, but the main problem stays the same - Two combat-capable units in Core, competing for which one is more advantageous to use. I like the customization, and offering options for players who play with a theme in mind is important, but I was more or less thinking that Barbarians could have been made to be support units - Like minor shooting, Scout, Skirmish...Things like that. You take 10 barbarians to have some Skirmishing Scouts hanging out with Throwin…

  • Quote from Exalted Champion: “They were really scary in WHFB 7th. They were dawn cheap, could have favours and could take a flail. Extremly frightening were them with favour of wrath aka mark of khorne, which gave them frenzy (+1A). They came with 50A S5 when playing as horde. And they were priced below 400 points (2500 points allowance). You met people on tournaments who played 3 full horde units. Most other elite units just were vaporised in 1-2 rounds, when encoutering these barbarian hordes.…

  • DL FAB 2.0 rule feedback

I had dismissed the value of the Miser, but I retract my statement. Its incredible resiliency, along with its access to quite often giving friendly units a -1 to be hit AND its ability to safely carry powerful synergy tools changed my mind. Or rather I had my FDA basically bounce off the darn thing, and my WDG zealot block learned how Tarskin works through experience. -16 Attacks. It gave my damn horde minus. Sixteen. Attacks. That was terrifying. Serves me right for scoffing at it.

Playing around with the book even if I don't have the models for playing it (for now), because preparing for the tricks your enemy can bring is half the battle! A whole lot of synergy combinations available, but I've noted that while it's easy to build very powerful units, it's not so easy to build a list that fits them well. For example, a Pride Harbinger on a Great Beast, joined into an unit of 6 Brazen Beasts - Bronze Backbone offsets and boosts Red Haze quite, quite nicely, and the Beasts co…

  • Or rather, the WDG book has both the highest peaks and lowest valleys of complexity, both the highest amount of options (if not impact), and the lowest amounts thereof. I'd argue that the former is worse than the latter, even.

  • The only reason Abyssal Armor works is because it's a +4 save and can't be improved, meaning that it does nothing against anything with ap0. A +1 save with the bonus would be quite ridiculous. It's good, that's for sure. I've been toying with a Greed list that keeps a constant bank of 6 Veil Tokens, effectively turning it into immutable Aegis +4, but I doubt it would be nearly as good in this book.

  • A very big chunk of our limitations can be attributed to having been done so early in the process, when the goals for the game were...Different, to say the least. The player feedback we got from the first released version was pretty clear on what the reaction for keeping that direction would have been, and it's not like it's been all quiet in the internals as well in regards to that. So the direction was changed. Gradually, but changed none the less... Only, the work on DL was properly started A…

  • Quote from KuuttiX: “Yea the new DL book looks nice but the amount of times a DL player must tell his opponen what he has when everything has multiple options and none else remember what all the things he has does and what about the complexity budget? That exceeds ours by a large margin at first glance. ” The worst part of being the first book in line is that every process is tested out on you. I think I've mentioned it earlier this winter, but the process has changed a LOT since we started work…

    Post

The Kickstarted just informed me that since the project didn't reach its goal, the pledge has been canceled. That's...Going to cause problems, isn't it? The way Kickstarter works bites us in the behind again, the plan WAS to send the miniatures and terrain, just likely without a proper starter set box involved, right?

  • We did say the updates are gonna be pretty rapid from now on.

  • Quote from AlexCat: “ - I wonder if grinds drop back to zero if they overrun into fresh enemy? ” "When the model is not Engaged in Combat, X is set to 0", so I'd assume so. The unit is not engaged in combat during the overrun move.

  • Given the current business of the team, I'd ASSUME it's a placeholder name that couldn't be changed before the spoiler release. Since it IS pretty damned goofy for a DAEMON book.

  • Weak or not, the damn thing is still memorable to me after it dealt nine wounds to my Dreadsphinx in a test match. "Psh, it wounds on a +5 and I still get Regen", famous goddamn last words.

Should the campaign fail to reach the goal, will the miniatures still be sent along, or is it an all-or-nothing deal? I've a need for those Necroguards.

  • @Happy Aspid The obsidian rock is probably my favorite support item, I just don't use it right now because I WANT the enemy to throw their spells at my warrior block instead of the guys that do most of the actual lifting. They're a nice distraction.

  • Quote from WastelandWarrior: “yeah, putting a devastating spell up to 10+ casting isnt going to help much at all. ” Well, it's not a 10+ cast, but a 7+ cast with a -3 to the roll results. Dispel-wise that's a pretty damned good deal. On the listbuilding side, we really need to do something about Warriors only being good in a 30-strong blob. And no, I don't think that the answer is to lower the unit size, before anyone asks.

  • Gauntlets are great on Entropic Lords for that reason.

  • On a quick glance somewhere in the 2500-3000p range.
