  • I thought the Age of Dipping came to an end when GW released their new washes (now shades) for very quick TTS results back then... But this thread has got me thinking to look into this stuff when I will have to paint my 100+ skeletons and zombies to be made from the Forgotten World KS, ebay GW zombies and what else

I guess to take inspiration from the various siege rules of WHFB 5th, 6th and 8th would be a good starting point. Will be following I'm also disappointed there still aren't official siege rules in sight, as the project always seems to improve on a lot of GW's shortcomings to create a better game. Siege battles were neglected since the 6th edition RB appendix, but always appeared as a fan favorite to me and I think would do great to attract new/casual gamers with the impressive battle pictures al…

You could also try to extend the legs, so its body would be higher up the ground like in the picture.

  • Quote from BrykJagz: “ I'm still searching for decent alternatives to Lemures. I want to keep the army looking Lust-style, but still show that Res5 in model form. Let me know any suggestions! ” Maybe some kind of beefed up s&m demons from hell? In the style of the hellraiser cenobites. Dark Eldar Wracks, Hordes Everblight, Dark Age Skarrd/Brood?

Quote from Squirrelloid: “@ToDD - Thanks for reminding me I have zero interest in anything GW is doing these days. ” Me neither, but I think we're in the minority so I posted them anyways Even if they produce a non-overloaded miniature with a design which isn't completely over the top and busy with swinging and hurling poses, I really dislike the slick, non-structured look their plastic miniatures have had for years. Either because this plastic injection technology works, how they're designed di…

  • "Back then" there was an incentive to field a character on foot because this way he kept a 360° LoS. Of course skirmishers had 360° LoS and real loose formation then. I'm not saying I want that back, but maybe granting on foot characters the better front arc of skirmishers would have been an option (before the freeze). Then again, that would have only helped lone characters on foot, not the ones inside a unit.

Quote from jirga: “Quote from .H.: “Quote from Hitsugaya Toushiro: “but speaks to shapeshifting. Imho Kuulima's Deceiver is a demon that can shapeshift his form (like the changeling) to mimic that from a powerful enemy which he is envious. So imho this form could represent is "real" form....an unknown/hooded form/shape..... ” Yeah, I mean, I get that. Just, in my mind, being a "greater demon" my sense of ascetic envisions something more...dynamic?Actually, thinking about it more, it would likely…

Quote from Izzilduuur: “Quote from Little Joe: “You can do fancy with desaturated? Old industrial cities all have this thick layer of gray that distorts light and makes them feel depressing. These dwarves seem to wash and probably even have colored hair to stand out. Shoes sure seem to be the fancy thing, so I would say yes ” I was thinking this depressing enviroment might be the reason for more bright colours... also would desaturated lighting conditions make bright colours impossible or would …

I'm also surprised to suddenly see expensive models in this thread ...and then have them converted beyond recognition so one could ask why not use some budgetreaver alternative to begin with (Which isn't to say the result doesn't look good, like everything in this thread)

  • Quote from WastelandWarrior: “Very cool. What model is that? Looks pretty huge, is it big enough for behemoth? ” It's the Privateer Press Hordes Throne of Everblight without the upper "floor" and with a converted GW Chaos sorcerer on top Comes with 100 or 120mm round base I think. I thought about getting one for a DE altar, but decided it will be my custom made DE siege tower (Hidden Content)

  • Quote from Aureon2000: “10 of 30 CG. Shell i paint runes or something else on the shields? Maybe like the sun on the banner of my BSB? ” I think that's a good idea, with the shields they're quite heavy on the blue. A symbol and/or maybe black shields? Overall beautiful army, I always enjoy looking at ID.

  • Since some people seem to dislike the cover artwork... My initial reaction also was more like "erm... what? Ok?", I've really grown to like it. It reminds me of my favourite pc game, turgor/tension/the void, a russian, sort of art house game full of weird, nightmarish designs. So my shoutout to the artist, you have a fan! However, I do agree it still wouldn't have been my pick for the cover artwork, because it is a very special thing and predictably a splitter, just like John Blanche works seem …

  • How is tabletop wargaming in Japan in general? Are other games comparatively popular to european/north american levels? I only know GW once did japan-exclusive super-snap-fit Space Marines which wouldn't require glue or side cutters to gain popularity there...

  • Will the black and white ones stay for the slim books or eventually disappear all together? Gotta say, I really like their style. E.g. the VC bloodline icons are like the best thing ever, just perfect.
