  • Swarm of Insects+Totemic is also a missile and a Breath! Totemic in general is probly the best spell in the game, anyway.

  • My lists all feature either a Thauma or Shamanism adept with Book of Arcane Power and Norns Bones...Casting either WoG or Totemic Summons (I prefer Summons tbh, my luck with WoG is bad) with +2 to the casting roll is cash money. I suggest trying to find the points to shove that in, @Nehekblue, it's a combo that never fails to pay off!

Quote from King Kazador: “...and includes some evil intention behind it. (There Is definitely a wormtongue championing this over-poweredness.) ” As the Arch Bishop of the Cult of Powercreep, I am legally obligated to say "no there isn't."

  • @Mahlzeit It's true, a large part of the internal consistency of the world just...isn't really available anywhere. A story that isn't told! It's a stupid effect of the closed-doors design style. But, yes - When we were working on this stuff, there was a lot of discussion on how knights happen in a WDG army, and...I'll boil the essentials down into a story - A knight of Equitaine, an Imperial Guardsman of the Empire and a Soldier of the Empire all decide to venture out into the wastes and sell th…

  • Lust CK have been popular, Lust Knights are expensive as heck so they can't be touched. Personally I use a block of 15 Lust Warriors with PW in my minimum-magic list as a bunker for a Sorcerer and the occasional peasant-murderers. They flee from threatening things, rally, then pop Relentlessbanner and march off to the horizon, or into an enemy flank. Good objective-holders.

  • @Mahlzeit Internal consistency, Knights are not superior to Warriors nor wise versa because it isn't how the Path of Favored functions. There's a certain level of competence required to even get to the point where you can sell your soul, and this is the level all Favored start from. Now, it COULD be written into a form where Warriors and Knights are just vastly different, but this is not our purview. We cannot just change that unless the Background Team approves of the direction change. And I'm …

  • They're Warriors, thus they share a statline with foot Warriors @Auto2. This cannot change, as there's no distinction between a footslogging Favored and mounted Favored. While Knights are elite in most armies, ALL Warriors are elite and on a similar footing from the get-go.

  • Indeed. I'm illustrating the pickle we've landed in when it comes to the Knights. They would need a total re-imagining if we wanted them to be in a real spotlight. This obviously has problems too. We have players who love knights, the concept and fantasy of then. The Warrior Knights don't quite fit into that fantasy, they're not particularly cool...They're just useful.

  • They've been on THE LIST for a long time, but at the very bottom of the list including other 'functional but boring' units like the Behemoth. Whether people use them or don't doesn't matter - The things that need improvement to FUNCTION get priority.

  • Price is the godstat of this game, and we're leery of changes that conceptually look like a buff but cease being such when coupled with the price increase inherent to them. I prefer sidegrades, or boosting a certain ability at the price of another, but Warrior Knights are essentially a dead end in this regard, stat-wise. Right now they're rather static in their ability, charging and not charging. @Auto2 suggests dropping Attacks and giving them a devastating charge, but this can't really be done…

Drat, you're right! I was thinking of Living Shield! In that case, I don't have a clue.

  • Quote from SkavenInAZ: “I'm not sold on them yet, since all the options are two handed - negating that 1+ AS that we have access to... I think lances might be preferable in some situations, despite the price. ” Like @Auto2 says, the Knights can default to HW+Shield to keep their save, meaning that Greed just gives them more options to use in situations where they're useful. Hacking apart some peasants with Parry? Switch to PW. Up against a tarpit like Lemures? Smack them with a GW. In the enemy …

Quote from AlexCat: “At the moment I have one question I have to ask. Ok, Hoarders are stripped of Tarskin. Why the Dexterous tentacles in return? Whats the thought behind the desicison? I really want to know. @IoRi78, @nightwun P.S. No, I've got another one. Why is the minimum size 10 for the unit with innate FiER? ” I can probly answer this one - Hoarders also lost one point of Defensive Skill, so Dextrous Tentacles can bring them back to 6. And Parry still provides defense against characters …

  • Quote from xaby86: “Speaking of Warrior Knight, the cost of GW +2, Greed +4 (GW, PW, halberd) is not considered by anyone? I find it very interesting, am I the only one? ” Greed Knights are likely the most often-used Warrior Knight unit out there right now, so you're not the only one.

Quote from Desmoze: “Fight in Extra Rank for the Myrmidons on the titanslayer chariot ? And we pay for that ? Hoarders loosing tarskin is a hard loss Nah, FiER doesn't do anything there after all, so why would it be paid for? It exists because the riders are Myrmidons, and thus they have all rules Myrmidons do. RIP Tarskin, tho, even if it was bound to happen. Rules like this and Lygurs Tongue are a bit too crazy in the hands of non-characters. Now I'm looking at those Veil Serpents, though... O…

Well, the Throne of Splendor went down in cost by...130 points? It's not exactly the best thing available, but has been used to good result around the world, and essentially means that the Omen is available for cheaper than it used to be, just not in the same form. A good trade-off? I dunno. But the Throne does seem more approachable without the massive 330p pricetag on it.

Quote from Hruggek: “I am Beastmen player and they are my main concern. DL is my second army I just started playing in the 2.0 version. I don't know, I'm not a game developer but that whole "Omen situation" smells like bad design to begin with, from the beginning. The same as the Flies looked like crap, played like a crap and then had to be redesigned into something that looks like it has a purpose and is playable. How was that crap let out to begin with, where was so to speak - quality control?…

Quote from Hruggek: “I can't think of any unit that was changed that much in one re-issue... ” In DL, or in any other armies? Because WDG sure saw a LOT bigger changes to the units in the book during the whole beta process. As well as any army with OTT units during the history of this game, the Omen got off lightly compared to the meteorite sledgehammer nerfs of some units in the past.

And my Gluttony army just became viable, yay. Edit: Whoops, that's what I get for keeping the tab open without paying attention.
