  • Episode 11! Thats a year of hobby (I missed a month)! It would be great to get some feedback on this "series" if anyone actually enjoys seeing what we have done each month. Is there something you would like to see more of?

    Anyway. Enjoy!

    Oliver

"Mercenary" WIP. I've always wanted to do a unit of Mercenaries, but since I'm a practical being, the prospect of modelling 7-8 unique models that all have to be magnetized was a bit daunting. I do love converting, but this specific project was just something that I had to push myself into. I decided to help myself with some easy bits, that had been used by many other ogre players, and if it turns out too "ordinary", I will have a new hunter model at least!

    Rasmus

I have continued to work on my WotDG Pestilence project! To paint my once Chosen, I have used full Duncan's Painting Guides on Youtube, and the entire army is built around the colors he uses in those videos. My first thought was to make it a swamp theme with cliffs. However as I just bought a winter table (as you can see in the latest 9th Scroll), I decided to change the swamp to an icy lake. The Pox walkers behind the bases will be my barbarian regiment, along with some Games Workshop Nurglings. I used the same techniques for the walkers as I used for the Once Chosen. The Snails will be used as warhounds and were made from actual snail shells and goblin spider legs. I am hoping to have a game ready army for the Danish tournament Battle of Copenhagen in February.

    Henry

This month I have been really trying to clear my painting table for space. I have so many models and not so much space. I had half painted my Vampire Spawn so finished those off. They were a bit of a modelling project as I had lost 2 legs somewhere and re-positioning the models to fit the ruined building was a bit of a task! I like to add some humans that are getting eaten/killed etc to give the army a bit of character, and this was no different.

The Bats were taking up a lot of space and only took a little time to paint. They were done using exactly the same scheme as the Vampire spawn, down to the eyes, to give coherence to the bats of the army. I also added some unfortunate humans being chased and carried off by the "Happy Bats"!

  • Hi Guys,

    Welcome back to Ammertime Podcast!

    - Disclaimer - This episode slowly decends into madness the longer it goes on and the more beverages we are consuming. Perhaps don't listen to this with the wife or kids.

Part 1 - We go through some of the mail our listeners(and African admirers) have sent us.
Part 2 - We talk about the recent Dread Elves Sneak Peak.
Part 3 - Rasmus newest filthy Empire list is discussed (at this point the analysis becomes less intelligent).

The rest of the show is pretty much unintelligible but might be entertaining.

Hopefully the next show will be arriving in the next few weeks after the Aroscon tournament this weekend.

If you want to get in touch with the show, you can email us at ammertimedk@gmail.com

  • Hi Guys and welcome to another installment of Ammertime's Tale of Many gamers!

We are a bit late with a podcast which I am currently listening through and editing as I write this. Sorry about that. I have also been hard at work on the 9th Scroll the past month which hopefully will make up for it! The Podcast will be released tomorrow.

Anyways here is the month in the hobby! Press "read more" to view the pictures :)

    Oliver

Since our last tournament, the more time consuming part of painting the army has been begun. Everything was only tournament painted for Battle of Copenhagen, and seeing as the next tournament is only a week away, I found it only fitting to get some easy fixes to the overall look. Hence bases are getting some love. A single model top left has been shown for reference of the difference.

    Ulrik

I been looking for some new Cave trolls for some time, but could not find any interesting models that I liked. When I saw these brutes from Games Workshop, I thought that they matched the profile of a cave troll pretty well with the plate armor being a good representation of the innate defense!

    Henry

This month has been crazy for me! New apartment has meant a month of renovations, painting walls, fitting lights etc. As well as this, I have been editing the 9th scroll. Unfortunately I havent been able to play many games, however I did get some painting done this weekend.

I converted a shapeshifter a little from Hidden dreams. Great model. Shame the rules are rubbish at the moment.

Next weekend we have a tournament in Aarhus and I want to play with Treekin. I converted some from the Games Workshop Hunter models. I have bought another 3 so hopefully I can get them ready as well.

I also started re-basing my Sylvan Elves. You can see my Dragons base shown with some birch seeds which look like leaves. The plan is to add the seeds to the whole army to give a bit more depth in the bases and a bit more colour.

  • Hello and welcome back to another episode of A Tale of Many Gamers.

Unfortunately the podcast has not happened the last few months. I have just moved apartments and my energy has been put towards that end. However, we will be back very soon with some more content. In the meantime, strap in for some updates in the hobby (also a little thin on the ground this month).

    Oliver

This month I painted army which was finished before Battle of Copenhagen. At the time, everything was painted quite quickly, but made so that I could return and do the finishing layers and touches at a later time. Here are the results:

    Ulrik

This month Ulrik has made what can only be described as a "Combat Gauge!" Simply for want of a better word. This mad-genius-esq contraption can measure arcs of sight as well as the spacing between units and, I think the 6" panic bubbles. Made by hand from cutting and filing a metal sheet, Ulrik has engineered this to an almost Dwarven precision.

His newly painted master engineer would be proud:

    Casimir

This month I planned on doing a ton of painting, being really enthused after Battle of Copenhagen. But work, life and other stuff got in the way as it always does. I did however manage to get some work on my Pharaoh in chariot model. Even tough I'm not sure it will see any play for some time I really want to finish this awesome model before I move on to something else, lest it ends up forgotten in some box. At this point only the chariot is completely done but its coming along at least.

  • A Tale of Many Gamers Part 5!

We have been very busy this month. Many of us getting ready for the Battle of Copenhagen. Here's what some of the guy's have been doing this month:

    Casimir

Battle of Copenhagne came and went, I think in the end I switched lists around at least 20 times. Adverse effects of this was that I didn't focus my painting at all and ended up with 5ish unfinished projects. In the end I decided to make it easy for myself and take a necroguard star list. The only thing I needed to finish up was basically some characters. So this month i finished a Harbringer and a Pharaoh.

At Battle of Copenhagen I got a lot of helpful comments about my army, mostly my bases so I decided to jazz them up a bit. I've changed the edges to black, which quite frankly I don't know why I didnt do earlier and I added some tufts. In the future I will probably add some variation in the vegetation as well but for now I only had one color.

    Ulrik

My army the night before Battle of Copenhagen... and the discussion we had about count as models.. and the the army at the tournament

    Andy

I went to Battle of Copenhagen with a WDG Chosen army that I started working in mid January.

    The army:
    Wrath Lord on Chariot
Lust Lord on Steed of lust
    BSB
    8 Barbarian horsemen of Lust
    14 Warriors of True Chaos
    5 Fallen
    5 x 10 lust chosen

When I started in January I had the 14 warriors and the 8 horsemen done and nothing else. Everything else I have to be assembled and paint in 1 month and here is the result.

    The Characters

This was the first time I tried my new airbrush for something other than a base coat and I think the result I okay. The base coat of on the cape on the lust lord is black, then at purple with airbrush, purple wash, a little lighter purple with the airbrush in an angle and in the end a new layer of white.

    The Chosen of lust

I got the last 40 chosen for my Army just 3 weeks before Battle of Copehagen so those 3 weeks was very busy for me. All my spare time was spent painting but who needs a social life :D
Basecoat is black, lots of gold, flesh and purple, Washed with nuln oil, highlight, purple wash and more highlights. All swords and axe have blood (blood for the blood god) on them. I still think that all the models need more highlights and all the bases need more work.

    Henry

I have been super hobby-motivated this month. I have been very productive. As well as a casual third place in a pretty big tournament I have been working on about 3 armies.

I repaired Daisy the Dragon from the damage she sustained on the flight home from the UK.

I also had some Varkolak Inspiration and gave Polly a facelift and a makeover. For those not following my Vampire blog the-ninth-age.com/index.php?th…&postID=208236#post208236 Polly has a pretty in depth back story and is 90% scratch built.

I have also finished a couple of witch hunter wraiths. These have an ACTUAL story!

I also finished a chaos Chariot/hero/mauler for my Wrath army. These pictures aren't great but you get the idea :)

That's it for last months painting.

If you have any questions about any of the models/techniques/inspiration in this months blog, please get in touch either in the comments field below or send us some mail to ammertimedk@gmail.com!

  • Welcome back to part 2!

In this episode, fanboys are treated to listening to Kristoffer and Henry discussing Narrative games and scenarios as a method of deciding the winner. You can see below some of the scenarios we have come up with.

The second part is a bit more interesting. Kristoffer discussed his Kingdom of Equitaine list and gives some tips with regards to army selection.

Henry talks about his Vampire list and some of the elements of Vampire Covenant army selection (by no means an expert opinion).

The 6 primary scenarios you can find here:

  • Hello!

Its the 30th of the month (give or take) and that means only 1 thing! Tale of many Gamers is back. This is what the Ammertime guys have been up to the month of December!

    Rasmus

Dread elf Fleet theme, corsairs assault from the sea!

-ed- Rasmus has themed his Dread Elves to be assaulting from the sea as merciless raiding pirates. This unit filler shown above sits in the back of his corsairs and give his unit a lot of character. It is made from a GW Dark Eldar ship and the corsairs are jumping out of the ship onto the shore. The sea and waves are built up with white miliput.

    Henry

This month has been very busy for me. I have started a new job been back to the UK and had Christmas and New year. Nevertheless I have been a bit busy in the hobby.

I have continued to work with my Warriors of the Dark Gods, Mono Wrath army. I was struggling for models in the last game so I made another "generic unit filler" for either Warrirors, warhounds, knights, crushers etc. It made from the "Dolmen" from kinggames.dk (fantastic company by the way) and a lot of skulls and green stuff. It comes ready with the old Khorne symbol which fits perfectly with my theme. The skulls also fit in with my skull bases.

I have also done some work on the Vampire army. You can find it on my army blog: The Von Karlsteins

    Oliver

Not so frosty frost-cow in the african bush! Lowering enemy's initiative solely by it's coolness factor!

    Ulrik

Some stone trolls for my orc army!

-ed- Ulrik has used the new GW Orc models for his stone trolls. They are large enough that they fit nicely onto 40mm bases.

    Lasse

This month I have devoted my time to answer customer requests, which have resulted in two great products for my company: https://www.facebook.com/Magnetic-Movementtraycom.../....

The first product is a movement tray for 5x2 (25x25mm) or 5x1 (25x50mm). The Chaos warriors you see in the picture is painted by Thomas Kyrsting.

The second product is a set of two movement trays used for 5 skirmishers (20x20mm). It is a two part tray, so it is easy to change formation during a battle.

This month I will try to finish my company website (future name: www.movementtray.com)

    Casimir

The holidays always mean plently of travel for me. As such I haven't been able to do any hobby at all. So I thought I would show you a picture of my colossus with scales. The base of the model is a kratos action figure with som warsphinx parts added on top. The model is quite tall but does look suitably imposing. The picture is from when it was nearly finished so there are some small details missing.

  • Welcome back to Ammertime!

This podcast is a bit of an amalgamation of last months events.

We talk a bit about what we are doing in the hobby.

Henry discusses his trip to England and the games at Pigmar Wargaming Club in Bath.

    www.pigmar.co.uk/

Kristoffer has a wee rant about 1.2

Henry interviews a coupe of Danish ETC guys to hear about their build up to the ETC next year.

  • Hello All,

This is a slow time of year in Denmark. The days are short, the nights are long and there is little motivation for gaming (1.2 has had mixed reviews in our gaming group....podcast coming soon).

Nevertheless I bring to you the second iteration of our "Tale of Many Gamers."

    Kristoffer's Assassins Creed Project

I've been working on 2 things: infantry and unit fillers. I'm making a unit of 50 pikemen out of the old riccos republican guard models from the dogs of war range.

Another dogs of war unit is braganzas besiegers.. The pavise crossbowmen in case you were wondering! Keeping the assassins creed theme, a unit champion is about to fall prey to an assassin hidden in a heystack!

In the same way, an assassin will be making his way through a unit with his three lovely companions distracting anyone looking. Haven't quite figured out which unit though.. Ideally it would be a unit standing at the ready..

Also I've scrounged up a unit of early empire crossbow men. This unit will not have any fillers as there is always that fine line of not using too many fillers in an army.

    Henry's Wrath Warriors

Now world champion of Denmark, I have taken to my hobby side of things. This means, not playing a whole lot and enjoying some of the project that have fallen to the wayside. My Mono Khorne/Wrath army has had a few new editions in the last few weeks but this one is the only one which was finished this month.

The Wrath Priest (the reds look very orange on the photo. Not too sure why).

    Casimir's Undying Dynasties

So this month I have a semi WIP picture of my first unit of Tomb reapers. It's a simple conversion blatantly stolen from @jouso , but I think it does feel egyptian enough. It's made out of the flying guys in the AoS starter set, very cheap on ebay, and some tomb guard parts. So far I've only done the highlights for one of the three.

I also put the finishing touches on a unit of carrion.

    Oliver's Ogre Khans

First unit almost done for my west-african themed ogre army. Lots of bright colors inspired by the dahomey culture of Benin.

Not all units are african, such as a giant taken as a slave. Needless to say the giant is not acustomed to the climate. My first attempt at finding a way to create a sunburned look.

    Ulrik's Dwarves

I been working on 30 of these ever since spear dwarfs came into the game. These are currently WIP.

    Lasse "The Master" Blichfeldt Andersen

This month I have been working on my private project: Corrupted Sylvan Elves. Just finished my archers and Sentinals.

For my company (https://m.facebook.com/Magnetic-Movementtraycom-1554361148188992/), I have been working on movement trays that can help players to use 40k and AOS models for T9A.

That's a wrap for this month. Give us some feedback on what you see here. You can write to us at ammertimedk@gmail.com or post here on the forum.
The next podcast episode will be discussing the Danish ETC team (interview with Rasmus (player) and Dennis (coach)), tournament report from the Pigmar Wargaming club and also a bit of a rant about 1.2 from Kristoffer.

All coming soon on the next episode of Ammertime Podcast (sorry about the delay).
