Onto Game 5 and that defeat in the last game has me down on the bottom table, a place I haven’t frequented in a while. My opponent sadly had been playing down here all weekend and he is was using the Ogre Khans! When you see his list you will see why. His list:
Great Khan (General): Hoardmaster, Brace of Ogre Pistols, Great Weapon, Iron Fist, Dragon Mantle, Gem of Fortune, Talisman of Greater Shielding
Mammoth Hunter on Tusker: Headhunter, Hunting Spear, Axe Breaker gauntlet, Charm of Cursed Iron, Dragonscale Helm
Shaman: Wizard master, 4 Spells, Pyromancy, Fire Blessing, Obsidian Rock
7 Bruisers: Full Command, Skull of Qenghet
6 Tribesmen: Full Command, Iron Fists
3 Tribesmen: Iron Fists
3 x 2 Sabretooth Tigers
2 Tusker Cavalry: Champion, Musician, Light Armour and Iron Fists
So certainly far from your typical Ogre Khan list as there is two non minimum sized units of ogres and not a Rock Auroch in sight! My opponent usually plays dwarves but fancied a change of army so he bought an Ogre Khan army, the Rock Aurochs were still in the painting workshop, so he had to make do with what he had available. I’m not entirely sure why there isn’t the Hellfist in the list and then to top it off by not even taking a BSB is a ballsy move!
Despite the list being a long way from optimal there is still some threats in there. The Thunder Cannon can easily kill my Daemon Prince in one shot and a big unit of Bruisers with the Great Khan in there could do some hideous things to my units if I’m not careful. Even those little units of 2 Tuskers are nothing to be sniffed at and have proven to be a pain in the past. I’m still fairly confident going into this fight though.
There’s a few new units in here that I haven’t fought before so I’m interested to see what they do. The Bombardiers sound nasty on paper, firing D6 shots each at S4 and AP1 could do horrendous damage to my guys so I need to be on the Ogres quick. The Mammoth Hunter on a Tusker is also something I haven’t seen before and could do some serious damage to the Daemon Prince and Bloodbeast if I’m not careful. I’ve never seen anyone take the Sabretooth Tigers before as well which I’m always surprised at because I always thought they were excellent chaff. I suppose for the cost of two solo Tigers you can get 3 Tribesmen instead though and they’re just better.
We roll for Deployment type and get Flank Attack and for the Secondary Objective it is Breakthrough, which is normally a pain of a Secondary Objective against Ogres due to their high number of scoring units and my opponent has 7 of them! I win the roll off to pick sides and choose to be the attacker, so I have big flanks.
I roll for my spells and I get Molten Copper, Silver Spike, Corruption of Tin and Glory of Gold. I drop Corruption of Tin for Quicksilver Lash as my the Ogres don’t have a high Armour Save to begin with so it’s of little use to me. I’m not sure how effective the Magic Missiles are going to be but I can at least aim for the Thunder Cannon.
My opponents 4 Pyromancy Spells are Pyroclastic Flow, Cascading Fire, Scorching Salvo and Flaming Swords.
As I said in my latest article I wouldn't be writing here for a while because of my University obligations and a lot of stuff I had to do hobby-wise.
So I said I was preparing my UD army for Novi Sad and my Ogre Khans army for Allied tournament in Samobor.
Unfortunately I didn't go to Novi Sad because there was last-minute stuff I had to do...
So I painted Sand Scorpion (metal) model and started to do a Sphinx too.
Here are some of the pics:
I was enjoying painting those minis and I really like UD. But unfortunately , due to lack of spare time I will probably have to sell them since I have 2 more armies (WoDG and OK) waiting for their paintjob aswell...
So later on I had to paint 25 Ogre Khan models in less then a week. Now I do now that doesn't sound so awfull but for the person who literally HATES painting and it is not very good at it... It was drama.
Everything was going smooth first few days.
I've painted 10x Ogre Tribesmen and I said to myself "Oh God, this is going great, I will finally have all miniatures painted on the tournament" (before that, I had to borrow minis or just spray paint them in 3 colours the night before...). And I was super excited! So this is what I have done 4 days before deadline:
And after that, I had to paint 7 Bombardiers and Great Khan and Khan (BSB).
2 days befor the tournament I've painted this so far:
And then.... I don't know what happened. But the last day I had some jobe I had to do and I was finished by the afternoon. And I was painting from 10 pm until 4 am... And my friend was picking me up in 8 am! So it was crazy.... But I didn't make it. I didn't paint them and base them as I wished and hoped I would do. But I will do it for the next event in a few months , since I don't have a lot of job with them
So the tournament itself;
It was (as I said earliear) allies tournament. So you and your "partner" have 3000 points each to make your army lists. Characters cannot enter the partner unit even if they're are the same army but there was full Ld range from generals (each player has to have one in its army) and BSB's and you could buff your partner's units with magic spells. It is played on 1 table , 2vs2. Super interesting event since it's only one in this region and the hosts are great! €0 fee entry + free drinks and food + loads of awards for everyone. Does it get any better?
Me and mate went with WoDG and OK allied armies and finished 3rd. This is the lists we had:
@Great Khan General Heart Ripper Yeti Furs Sprout of Rebirth Spinsplitter
@Khan BSB Great Weapon Iron Fist Ogre Crossbow Dragonscale Helm Talisman of Shielding Skull of Qenghet Hoardmaster
@10x Tribesman Full Command Iron Fist Banner of Speed
@Daemon Prince of Pestilence General Dragon Mantle
@20x Warriors of Wrath Full Command Paired Weapons
@24x Chosen of Wrath Full Command Paired Weapons Rending Banner
Since I don't rember it much now (well not the details) I will just write our opponents armies and result we did against them.
1. vs. Daemon Legions/WoDG 0:20 (tabled...)
2. vs. Vermin Swarm/Dread Elves 16:4
3. vs. Orcs and Goblins/Orcs and Goblins 20:0
4. vs. Saurian Ancients/Highborn Elves 13:7
As I said, very interesting and "different" event and it was pleasure playing it!
So for the award I received Shieldlord with Crossbow from @Shieldwolf Miniatures
The mini itself looks stunning! Great mini and I absolutely love it. But the problem is with the cast, it turned out slightly bad (chunks of resin on the croosbow, thin resin on the cloak + bend sword). But besides that, it is great. It made me thinking of buying box of Shieldmaiden and making a unit of Shieldmaiden / Barbarians for my WoDG army.
So , that's that for now. Hope you enjoyed reading this.
Will talk to you again soon, probably in a week or two. I will come back with the news for 9th Age BR project I will do.

Welcome to another one of my battle reports. Once more I gathered with three of my friends to really crowd the battle field with our armies.

Hello, Hello, Hello, Andrew is back today with Host of the show Bill Robertson! Bill is a long time Ogre Player and has loved his Son's of the Avalanche for quite a while.
Bill and Andrew don't do a full review, rather they do a high level of the Ogre 1.0 release - only covering some favorites and disappointments. This is part of a series of Xtra Points Episodes where Andrew will be covering rules and highlights from all the 1.0 books, while the Prime Casts take care of full book/army reviews.
If you enjoy the show, tell others about it and check out our other shows that are part of the Ohiohammer Network (Countercharge, Countercharge Xtra, Xtra Points, and Model Citizen).
Lastly don't forget to check out our miniatures convention - OhCon!

Another month, another foolish horde trying to enter Infernal Dwarf lands.
Having already routed two undead hordes, now a large Ogre Tribe was encroaching on the lands of the Dark Ones.
It was once again time for the Overlady to heft her Onyx Hammer, rally the Citadel Guard around her and march to war!

Great Khan and Shaman went in the Tribesmen, Great Shaman and BSB in the Bruisers.
Mercenary Veterans and Yetis vanguarded up my left flank ,opposite the Hobgoblins.
The Infernal Dwarves dropped the whole force down into firing line formations with the long lines of the Citadel Guard holding the center and protecting the artillery park, being bolstered by the Infernal Engine just to the right of the ruined house. Facing of agains them were the bruntf the Ogre might, the Tribemen, Bruisers and Frost Mammoth had all come mid, leaving the Tusker Cavalry to head down the right flank (almost unopposed save for a heroic Hobgoblin Chieftain) an dthe Mercenaries and Yetis to vanguard down the left, facing of against a Bolt Thrower, a Disciples of Lugar unit and the Hobgoblins.
ID Turn 1:
The vanguarding Ogres are met by unyielding fury from the Disciples of Lugar and a flurry of buff spells from the Lagus who flew over there on his Lamassu to aid them.
Hobgoblins try to weight in with their bows but do nothing.
Buffed by the Pringle of Hatred, the Disciples of Lugar prepare to meet the now flammable Ogres head-on.
Nothing else of value was cast.
First blood goes to the Bazooka Team (Bolt Thrower) as they expertly skewer a Tusker from across the field
The heroes! In a single shot they have paid for both themselves AND the other Bazooka team.
Which is good because they wouldn't hit another shot in the whole game, but at least the shot they had in them was a good one.
The Infernal Engine trundles forwards to a better firing position before opening up with the Shapnel Guns for the first (and last) time of the game, shooting dead a Tribesman, despite a minor misfire.
Citadel Guard were naturally out of range, their measly 21" (when moving) as usual preventing them from contributing on turn 1. Second Bazooka team missed the Mercenary Veterans.
One Rocket Battery take 2 wounds of the Frost Mammoth, the other misfires and is done for, for this battle.
The Volcano Cannon tries for a extreme long shot but cannot reach (I miss the days of 24" range on that thing!)
Ogre turn 1:
The center thunders forwards, though the Tuskers on the right flank fails their tests for the nearby Hobgoblin Chieftain and are greatly slowed.
Buffed by the Pringle Of Hate(tm),… [Read More]
