The project likes to learn from ages past and one lesson T9A team has learnt is to engage the community more. The team had such a tremendous success with ideas for the magic phases and new magic items for Warriors of the dark gods that the Rules Team (RT) has melded together some great global surveys that they want you, the community to help answer in order to get an understanding of what the community really wants.
Now it's worth saying right here that the surveys are not binding to the future of the game, but give instead the T9A team a incredible insight into the path they need to take.
Up first is a survey on what to do with magic items with some very simple questions and statements for you all to answer, so please, take the jump and answer away, and when you finish, spread the word, we need to actively engage as much of the community as we can.
So what you waiting for, go go go!
Start the survey here!
If you look at my profile, I have only joined at the beginning of April. And I first had to find my way into this game system (and now I'm completely addicted, lol, and have already drawn two friends into it with me).
Why do people play certain games, well because they want to have fun. Why War gaming? for the interaction with other people, mainly their friends, or potential friends.
Its science actually, about 10% of people will try it because its new. Once you reach 30%-35% of gamer in a certain community it will go viral. As 50% of the population want things because many others have it. For T9A, an important factor is not to be misses, about 15% of people will play because others are playing, we need to get in to this category. Also don't forget that 15-20% of people will not try no matter what, so with these people your just wasting your time, they will switch game system only if they can no longer play the game they have. You must realize which type of personality the person you are talking to has, and engage them the right way.
This is a simplified version of the entire process, but it should help convincing people. If you are trying to swing your gaming group, you must be aware of who is who. First get the ones aboard who will try the new stuff, once your doing this, you must watch your gaming group, as some players will get interested, that have not been interested before, this may take some time to build up a critical mass.
to get the trolls to shut up, ask them if they have tried it? and how many games of 1.0 have they played? if its less then a few times, then may be they don't have the full picture. Crack their shell of ignorance, and let them sit on it a few days. Let the poison sink in. you'll be surprised how fast people turn around. As if you pressure them, they will go id defense mode, retreat behind their beliefs, and you cant make any progress, as there is no logic when it comes to believing.
As to game not having enough support. Well you can say there a 4 companies supporting T9A, much like GW with Forge world citadel exc. Not only are they supporting T9A they are looking of ways of cooperating. I can say that TMS is looking to release a starter set, to get new players in. Its not happening now, but it is in the works. And T9A rules set will be the official rules for the armies we release. Because T9A allows for the use of any models, we also endorse this rule, just like the other companies.
Friend: Lets play warhammer!
Me: want to try T9A? It is better balanced!
Friend: No, I want Warhammer 8th.
Me: you know I play Dark Elves, sure you do not want to play T9A? It is a great rules set!
Friend: No, I want 8th!
20 Witch Elves with Cauldron & 20 Black Guards proceed to destroy a Tomb King army, and then next battle to go trough and entire zombie & Skeletonsmob to hit a Vampire lord.
Me: told you, now: do you want to play T9A? Dread Elves are more fun to play against!
Friend: mmmmmhmhmhm. . .
@ red_zebra_ve: You are sure you played 8th? Or that in tihs match balanced mattered? What you describe sounds like one off the few army compositions you could beat quite regulary with Tombkings. Couldn't it be, that you are so much more experienced or good, that your opponent only had a change if you played KoE and he played DL or something else stacked against KoE?
Doesn't have: Vermin Swarm, Dread Elves, Warriors of the Dark Gods and Infernal Dwarfs.
Has: Everything else.
In my opinion - playing a soft list with a smile while being easy on the tap-backs and offering advice when they seem in doubt - goes a long way. People tend to apprechiate the new ranks to the flanks break steadfast more if they get to pull this trick on you
Also - tune the size down a little. 2500 pts can be a lot to handle for some. 1000-2000 pts are quite a bit easier to manage.
This have led 5 "new" people (8th editioners mostly) to our ranks and also made me win best sportsman at our latest local tournament. Some people even wanted to do campaigns and "had a friend" that would be interested in playing.
